One of the best review of the FX3 I've seen so far (and believe me, I've seen them all as I potentially want to buy this camera). The main reason is that we can see how to use the specifics of this camera (small size / handle / rigging points) to show the actual usability benefits, instead of just comparing image quality and specs as too many other videos. IBIS have never been as good as Panasonic. For walking-and-talking vlogging, you should turn off IBIS and use the gyro metadata and stablize it in post using Sony's Catalyst PC software.
I have watched a few reviews and this one is the first that shows the advantages of this camera and not just point out that it is a A7s III in a different body; or worse, just whinge! I have been hoping to get an A7s III and I feel that the FX3 is a better option for me. The only thing that I wish Sony had done was to add an extra 1/4 hole on the bottom or at least an anti-twist hole that they even put on their consumer video camera lineup! There will be times when we add rods underneath and therefore more attachments and that makes it heavy and prone to twisting when carrying etc.
Hey Julien, thanks for the video! How were your experiences with mounting a monitor? Normally I would put it at the very front end of the handle where the big XLR chunk is now. How was the Camera balanced with the magic arm you mounted on the side? And as the camera doesn't have locating pins, was it stable enough? And how did it work mounting the monitor on the handle? Was the handle still usable?
It is a really pity that fx3 does not have false color or at least a waveform for proper exposure. That is something i expect within cinema line. So I am wondering which camera to buy. Canon c70? This cam has it all. Fx6? Maybe. But fx3? Great, but cinema cam? Oh boy! Need to get use to it i guess :)

Much more suitable and reliable for professional video than the a7S III.
For someone that wants purpose-built tools for the task, is it worth investing in the FX-3 over the FX-6 or A7SIII for run-and-gun videos?
All the cameras are super solid. It’s a person choice for sure. IBIS in the smaller cameras and ND in the larger. What are you shooting?
