The album version was pushed to be more like TBS, there is a more raw version of this I've been searching for for 15 years. I've also been searching for a cover of Where Have You Been by Manchester Orchestra covered by Kevin Devine
If anything this version sounds like TBS, there's parts of both versions I like, but I'm too familiar and emotionally attached with the album version to favor this one. The production on this album is jarring, it sounds very cheap on trying to sound super expensive lol. I think the deal breaker is I love the strings on the album version
YES! Thank you for this. I had this saved on an old, OLD computer from when it first was released. I was so bummed when I heard the album version. They took away so much of the power in the album version.
Thanks for uploading this. I remember downloading all their demos off their website before they mastered and released their LP. I've lost them sadly. I miss listening to them because I agree, they had more passion than the mastered album versions.
Thank you so much for posting this, I feared I'd only be able to find the album version, while this is the rendition I initially fell in love with and find superior as well.
Mark O'Connell's drum work is far superior in the demo. To me, I think it adds depth to the song compared to the album version. Yeah, this version isn't mixed as well, but it does sound a lot better.
Thank you very much for posting this demo version. I was a big fan before they recorded any actual albums. I'm trying to find the rest of their demo because the self titled and everything after doesn't do it for me. Any help is appreciated.
Love the demo version. Out of curiosity, do you also have the demo version of "mistakes we knew we were making"? I always liked that one more than the album version also, but I lost it and can't seem to find it anywhere. :(
Definitely not mixed or mastered as well but the album version almost got rid of the distorted guitars completely and the drummer neutered his part in the bridge.
It's sad how much better this version is than the album version.

It is known.

In my opinion this version is the only one that matters !
all in this demo is so better than the final album versions..
This is the only version for me. Have loved it for more than half of my life and still do.
11 years has gone. And I still singing along with it.
OoOf 16 now
@@switchunboxing big oof
Fuck. I’m gonna go drive around and sing/scream this. Right now. Like I’m 16 again.
AH HA. This is the version I prefer. Glad I finally found it on here! Thanks for posting!

I sing this in the car with as much passion as I did in my early 20s. Holds up! Love it
I never noticed the version I listened to was the demo. I listened to the album version and it just missed that pinch of raw passion this version had.
This version was put on a mix CD in 2008 by someone special to me and it always reminds me of her. The album version always seems off to me.

This comment is 9 years old. That’s crazy.
Anyway, I had those demos too. Man. What a time for music. All the demos.
Dude owning that snare drum.
That Snare ❤
Yesssss
Found this song in '03 on a sampler I had been given free at the Couch Tour. Still love it.

Reminds me of highschool. I love this
Song gives me a feeling like no other
Thanks for uploading!!! Love this song. This demo definately has more energy.
Ten years later this is still one of the most beautiful songs I have listened to.
Coming up to 30 years old....
This version is by far the best
Thanks for having this. I'm pretty sure this version resides on a hard drive in my basement, but I doubt it even works.
Would love for them to release these demos on an album, they just hit so much better.
Thank you for posting this version

Summer 24 you won't be missed

This Version is amazing!! I heard it a 10 or more years ago.
The Album version is so boring...
Straylight Run 2003 demo = Adam-less/Eddie-less Taking Back Sunday.
@jadeyladyrocks "I much prefer the other version..." Cool story bro. Then go listen to that version. I believe it's in the sidebar ----->
Awful mix. The album version is way better.
