Polaroid SX70 to SX70r Modification/ Circuit Board Removal and Installation

This is how I removed the original circuit board from a Polaroid SX70 Alpha 1 and replaced it with a SX70r board. The SX70r board adds new functionality like switching between 600 and SX70 film, shutter speed control, a self timer and remote shutter capability through a free app for iOS or Android. It also corrects most exposure issues you may be experiencing due to a corroded light sensor. This can also be done with or without removing the skin from the camera. I have modified many cameras using this new circuit board and been extremely happy with the results. I thought others might like to know how. The board can be purchased at :

I ordered the board directly from the SX70r website. It takes a little while for it to arrive because it’s coming from overseas but it’s a reliable source. He usually sends a small circular piece of clear plastic with the board as well, to replace the darker one over the light sensor. I would recommend buying the 1mmX1mm tips from Retrograde Engineer on Etsy. He sells them for around 35$ and usually ships fairly quickly too. And if you really want to up your SX70 game, Polastudio on Ebay sells an excellent flash adapter that makes it super easy to attach an external flash. They also sell the exact same boards as SX70r, but at a markup.

Great video. Can you recommend where I can get the 1mm drill bit, I can’t find one that is reasonably priced. Also did you order the pcb from SX70R website? Thanks
