The tradition is called "Hubertus Mass" and is organized by the hunting community. -Saint Hubertus is the patron saint of hunters in the Catholic faith. His symbol is a white stag with a shining cross between its antlers. -The mass takes place once a year in autumn and is a thank you for an accident-free and successful hunting year and a request that it stays that way in the future. Before the hunters go to church, it is tradition that they bring a dead stag to the church with this parade, as a symbol of the successful hunt, since the stag is considered the noblest game in Austria.
