- tinyurl.com/lin... - We took this video to show how most shops will spool your fresh new PE line on your jigging. The machine winds the line onto the spool tight offering no kinks or trouble free.
*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*
@BassAnglerMike33 wrong, a machine will put a high, constant pressure on the line, packing the spool with the most, tightest line possible. Especially important when spooling braid. Because the line likes to cut into itself when not spooled correctly.
one thing ive learned from working in tackle shops is to add a layer of flex grip to the bottom of the spool, because sometimes the whole spoon will freely spin with spectra.
@MrTatts64 I totally agree my friend... My wife is an engineer( she has her masters and bachelors in electrical engineering) but the fact of the matter is that she has to deal with mechanical engineers and people with machine shops, so all I have to do is foot an idea.. also after doing much research last night I have sourced many parts that i can use to create one... Thanks for all the helpful info pal...
those who are bashing this guy should stop, we all started without knowledge and slowly learned things along the way. yes, the castman is for casting and the jigman is for jigging, it isn't so hard to correct someone who made a mistake without any aggression. tight lines fellow anglers, safety first.
you jigging the grand canyon? seems a little much O.O
for God sake all of you geniuses it says in the description and very clear, for jigging japanese style not jigging gringo style and for casting yes is overfiled but for jigging it's not,you have to love north american anglers they just know it all
You just gotta love them. They know everything ... and only they will know. Hahaha!
Actually when you're not casting you can get away with even less line in your spool. American or not, jigging or casting, that is clearly an overfill.
Jigging or not ... over spooled lol ... I jig all the time ... that first 15 yards is gonna fall off ... lol ... if you think that's not your fishing wrong lol
jigging gringo style....... better than a coke can, kite string and a broken two barbed rusted treble hook..... amigo
The Japanese make excellent gear, Lines, rods, reels and hooks. Good stuff.
@surethingsfly Again... The reel is for vertical jigging, and theres tech in place these days to prevent windknots. I've cast a reel that full on a surf rod, no issues, as long as yr line is packed on tight, and theres no line slack when yr casting (proper technique involved) little to no fluff.
Greetings from Indonesia, the Aru Islands, Maluku Province, on the Indonesian Australi border
I would love to see how well this gentleman would fill a spool with something like PE 0.4 to PE 1. Specifically for "spinning".
Being that much lighter and more easily damaged.
This is in no way criticism as I have more than learned that just because it is different to how I do something, it doesn't automatically make it wrong or "not gonna work". Japanese are VERY specific in their fishing styles, tackle and approaches. Everything being made into an art form!
I am curious to know what kind of line winder he is using... Any info will be appreciated...
Well I could be wrong, but it looks quite unevenly wound onto that spool. Better to hand spool it using the reel itself so line lay is optimal. Not the way most people do it at all. Line feed spool also needs to be in a bucket of water to prevent stretch & overheating, causing possible line cut in.
I paid good money for a full blown personal spooling station and have spooled easily 500 reels and whether he's jigging or not this isn't very well done for a few reasons most notably to me the first 100 meters is very uneven the top of the spool was significantly higher than the bottom if u watch closely ... Also I have wrapped the spool 20 times prior to spooling and it will still slip hence companies r now putting braid friendly rubber like areas on spools now ... Lastly, allow the reel to guide the line more so than ur hand if using a spooling machine this is why it is so uneven he is fighting the natural lay of the spool which is why if I have a high capacity spool I will still hand spool the reel
sorry to say you have no idea what your talking about lolololololololol
Idk if you go point by point it seems correct to me I’m not sure how you could argue this is done well really just look at the final product I really don’t care about the over capacity but using a towel to create pressure is about the same is putting the line between your fingers and the lay of the line is really skewed toward the top ... jigging reel or not I wouldn’t pay somebody to use a towel to spoil a reel there is a reason you go to a tackle shop to have a reel spooled it’s because they have better equipment than you do and the towel guiding technique isn’t my idea of better
@240SSONLY i ve just got a saragosa 8000 and it works wonderful apart that it is amasingly strong. Go ahead my friend and tight lines!
@reggaeangler
I'm over in the UK. Long long way away :)
Keep the same mind set as you would with your rod wrapper though. You need to think "light". You dnt want something that will be all too easy to warp the metal of the spool - or if plastic, carbon or kevlar, shatter it.. You only need to grip the spool enough to be able to spool it. You would possibly find the use of some rubber layer between the lathe and your spools a benefit. It would be a sacrificial thing, slowly wearing out.
@MrTatts64
Sorry for the mis-understanding, i am familiar with the line, but I was curious to know what machine he was using to spool the line and to know where can one be found and even the price... there arent many line winding machines on the market and the few that are there are overly expensive so that was the reason that i asked... Any ifo would be helpful thanks...
Now there's only one major problem that can occur when you're spooling your line like this: The line is laid parallel and if you pull too hard it might slip through to the centre of the spool and block in the process.
As most reels lay the line in an X-shape across the spool this cannot happen if you spool your reel the traditional way.
However, if the line is thick enough and the spooling tight enough it won't happen, so in this particular case I think it's not an issue.
But there are also people who spool thin freshwater lines like this - NOT RECOMMENDED!
And I would also recommend a few rounds of Nylon on the bottom of the spool as anti-slip..
which one is better in the world daiwa or shimano ? ? ?
@MrTatts64 good idea my friend... here in the states there are always lathes going on sale for cheap so I will look out for one to see how I can modify it... I have though about creating some mods for my rod wrapper to accommodate this line winder but when it comes to that I am at a lost of creativity... Where are you located??
@richdalphone hows that so? because your mono has stretch therefore reducing your feel of a fish's strength? or because youre to cheap to buy it?
how did he connect or tie the three spool together.
It comes like that it’s 300 meters 100 per biscuit.
dang, great job what machine was used to spool that spinner?
@richdalphone and fluoro does stech, not as much as mono, but it does stretch, thats why its commonly used as a shock leader, and who said im worrying about line capacity? dont throw shit into an argument to boost your opinion when it doesnt even relate,
0:46 "maybe i should just be quiet..." wisest thing I heard or saw in this video...
is that braided line he's putting on there?
5t00g3 when you spool you want the line coming off the spool that you bought the same way your reel spool is turn he has done this just right maybe a little over filled but he will not get line twists this way.
Whats the name of that machine? Thanks.
Hi !!! I wanted to ask why when I collect a thread in my reel the thread does not return in a straight way Sometimes there is an area in the reel where more wire is gathered and an area with a little thread I wanted to know is it normal or something is wrong
elico dadon move the knot to the left or right not leave in the middle...!!!
IF someone at a tackle store spooled any of my reels like that I would stop them, make them un-spool it and start again.
madaxe79 agree but i dont make him start again , i stop them and get my stuff and leave the place
@reggaeangler
First 7 seconds or so, shows the line as YGK's Ultra Castman X8. Label looks like it says 36kilos when enlarged, but that is purely a guess as its fuzzy
I dont understand why is this way of spooling good. When you go fishing and you cast out the line, the "pro" spooling is gone. Why just dont spool it up with the reel ? And i have an own way to respool correctly the line. If you are on boat, or on the bridge above a river - just use a floating lure, keep the line out - and spool it up with the reel again. The line is spooled how it must be spooled and how it is used all time in the future... ;0)
;to all the people who are saying that will slip it wont he wound the line round the spool numerous times before tying it off and saying it is overfilled it isnt its not for casting its for jigging for casting yes its overfilled but jigging its not
How is this different from normal spooling a reel?
@curtgowdysharkhunter Well it looks just like spooling a normal spinning reel exept he puts more line on, you always pack the line as tight as possible
@Tsurishopjapan you said what it would be used for
Its a good Idea to use a thin strip of electrical tape on the spool before you start to wind the line. The entire wad of line can slip and spin on the spool if it loses grip.
Hockey tape
that's actually really easy to do. and he did it wrong. lol. no tape and over filled. way over filled.
cdmadison08 you do not need any tape but i have to agree it was a little overfilled
The over fill is ok the customer just paid too much but I counted 2 or 3 loops in 2 seconds very bad
Can you imagine the wind knots you would get with this set-up, a tad too much line??? lol!
@curtgowdysharkhunter Oh well, when i spool line on a reel, i get a spare spool from another reel and put onto it first and put the drag on så that it packs very tight
You can fill a vertical jigging reel that full since you arent casting
@TheXJthatCould thats narrows it down... to say the rest of the planet.
How would I do this at home?
You say that line is for jigging only. Why then is it called Castman?
*Love this reel. **allabout.wiki/xkyk?..**. Bought two for my saltwater pier fishing rods to replace a larger and heavier set of reels. Very smooth drag. Fit and finish is excellent. I’m very impressed. I have always been a Shimano fan (Stradic) but this is just as good for half the price. Caught a 10# lake trout on it last weekend that ran 50’ to the bottom 5 times peeling drag and reel handled it like a champ. I have the 2500 model and spooled it with 14lb hi vis Fireline.*
It's not for casting!! It's for jigging in about 100m of water... then when a large tuna or amberjack takes it you'll need to read for major line pull. So if say you had 150-200m you'd probably get spooled out VERY quickly.
Now you know!
Uneven line profile, overfilled spool. True, do not try this at home.
How frigging lame was that. No slip tape on bottom of spool, uses a rag foe tension, not applied evenly and is over filled..
the spool was great but just seemed to over fill it, that was more line on the reel then im comfortable with, just saying ya know
mucho ingenio que vaina pa!buena
If its not for casting, why is it called castman?
Did you make that up yourself? "heat spots"? Each millimeter of line is only touching the rag for milliseconds! There is no heat transfer to the line. You could hold a torch to the line at that speed. But then I gess your an expert.
@LiveBaiter3900 no there is not to much line this is used for jigging only dude
@Fesoj007 fuck yeh, finally some one with an honest review... thanks brother
Happy Fishing
the first thing I'd do is let all 300 metres out the back of the boat, at slow speed, and let the reel place the line where it should be.
tying a correct knot onto the spool with spectra does not need tape... not knowing how to tie it correctly to the spool means you need tape
+Jake Bray physics says no
:(
The tape goes on the spool so the braid doesn't slip under tight pressure
Slap full of braid! Way to sport ur braid, be proud
all that friction from the rag is not good. I'd be applying tension on the spools.
yup you are right i use machines like these at work everyday. and when your putting on braid and need it in tight you apply pressure to the spool or the coat on the braid comes off.
PE Braid from Japan doesn't have the coat like Power Pro.
Reason why I shouldn't try at home?
What difference it makes after one cast? It's just a stupid way to make simple job fancy
If going for jigging in 100m water, a 4500 size reel isnt suitable. Get a 8000 instead ^_^
Happy Fishing and tight lines.
IT IS PERFECTLY CLEAR TO ME WHY HE SPOOLED IT TO THE LEVEL HE DID ...IT ACTUALLY ALLOWS THE OWNER TO REDUCE THE LEVEL TO HIS LIKING ....MUCH BETTER THAN IT BEING UNDER FILLED IMO...
Often the most ignorant people have the loudest voices/ most comments- if you don't fully FILL a reel, it affects the drag & causes bustoffs. If you've ever seen a BIG fish run, you would know WHY you need 300m of line(some of mine have 500m)- how deep is the ocean...? You don't get windknots when jigging, cos you're dropping straight down- NOT CASTING!
Why use a spin caster for vertical casting? Use a boat reel , or a bait caster.. Spin caster is probably the worst you could use.
Jigging or no Jigging... if you're fishing from a Pier, you'll have to cast regardless. He's over filled that spool, FACT!
Little confused on why "only professionals can do this"...
i'd want a refund if i was handed that...
Why so much braid?
By my reckoning I recon that was over spooked
you sell more line spooling like this
dont try this at home??? are you kidding.
you will never get all this line back on after the first cast
Why did you tie the braided line to a bare spool, it will spin, it's better to have some "backing" of monofilament, or a peace of ruber like certain Penn reels and some others...
Thought he would use a lathe
this is the special way to do it wrong!!this is tottaly wrong,if anybody did that thing only once, will know!
i have a question for you fishermen.I want a reel that, if i look at it side on, bobs in and out as i turn the handle. The faster i turn the faster it bobs etc.I dont know the correct terrm for this action/reel.Any suggestions???
SLAP FULL ,SLAP FULL
It's a joke or pun as we say. If you actually knew me you would realize I'm always being a funny crazy guy.
I spool lines everyday and that was not very good.
only professionals can do this? He's trying straight braid to the bear spool, no backing to prevent it from slipping??!!
Over spooled but still cool
where tha lunkerdog?
run that dog.....
lol.... i can do this w my $20 piscifun tool all day long
Your doin it by hand so its not going to be even. wth
thats wayyyyyyyyyyy to much line n wats wid the colors
Not impressed at all. In fact it was the least professional work I've ever seen.
so.... why so serious? im sure you can use both for either with no problems... i've used windtamer lines for regular bottom fishing with no problem.. i dont see why you must be so angry..
why would u do anything the japenese way?
Overspool that shit and didn’t put electrical tape befor spooling it. You are Wright I won’t try that at home, I’m not an idiot.
It says jigging so its spooled OK
Sure is a lot of hate from absolute tackle freaks. What sort of people go around telling people, who obviously know what there doing, the right and wrong way to put line on a piece of plastic, metal and gears.
Its funny how you make it sound like its precision engineering when all he's doing is spooling. The tackle shops here all spool it the way he's doing it, nothing really Professional.
lol pro you have to be joking right 😂
Too much line it’s going over the top.
Professionals.... ROFL
Just got new spool of line done the same way lost a $10 rattletrap and countless swimbaits until the over spooled string Torrid self off the real countless Americans don't know nothing
@TheXJthatCould
we jig to depths of 400M i guess thats 1200+ft, ctaching species you wouldnt have heard of. im assuming your american and believe your the only country on the planet...
nope.... all I need are less than 12" of water and a nice shiny silver spoon. don't need to go 200 fathoms to catch fish.
hope you didn't pay for that
Hahahahaha, Nice job wasting a shit ton of line. I bet the first cast the poor bugger had who owns the reel had a birdsnest at his hands
over spooled it
Not perfect, and WAY too much line.
Ethan Churchill its too much line for casting , but not for jigging
Over filled
