I run my strings through backwards. So the washers are at the tuner with my trems. Zero string slippage. So locking tuners aren't needed. And even faster string changes
This is my Dream guitar!! Hopefully ordering it within the next month 😊 thanks for the in-depth review. I also have been a subscriber to your channel for a little while now. Love the other IBanez reviews as well.
No bushing needed on the lo pro. Just use a piece from the soft plastic from Daddario string sets. Place it over the hole and push in the trem bar and youre ready to rock!
forget the cost, if you were buying either this or a J custom today, which would you pick? I'm down to those 2 and can't decide lol would appreciate your honest thought.
Even though the J custom is a little higher in quakity and plays a little better, I'd get the rg5320. It still plays better than most other guitars, it has the features I both prefer and need, and I can play the neck for longer without my hand getting tired as quickly
There is a little info from me, the RG550's neck is also Super Wizard neck, but it's thinner than these Prestiges, and it's D shaped, and these Prestiges are C shaped necks, which are more comfortable and fills my hands. I was thinking, just because they wrote it's Super Wizard neck, they were the same, but I tried them both, and noticed they are different. I don't think you'd like RG550's neck.
Thanks for the thoughtful information, I appreciate it! Although I did just pick up an rg550 Genesis in roadflare red, the new ones. Never got the chance yet to play an rg550 from the 80s
I love the modern and interesting looking/finishes ibanez are going for, I must say though that a pet peeve of mine personally is that they always go for the natural finish in the back
I bought the 5320C deep forest green... what an axe, such a good surprise compared to what I read in foruns, didn't find any flaws in the Fretboard or sharp edges as I read before, I may had luck, but the guitar is awesome! Thinking about buying this 5320 cosmic shadow too... I did some upgrades in mine, like the red bishop magik arm trem and changed the sustain block to a hantug brass 20% thicker, but all things considered, it is a top notch guitar right out of the box, cheers!
@@HighZ haha couldn't agree more. There's this stupid comparison with the J customs and its fretwork from the manufacturer, but you can have it in your prestige paying much less for a good luthier, in my case I see the J custom as a different finished guitar (beautiful 4mm wood transparent finishes, tree of life inlays, etc...) it may have other perks, but are they necessary? I prefer the SS frets.
Nice review, I think you touched on everything needed for someone who might be considering this guitar. I would just reaffirm that the Pickups do get a lot of negative feedback. However as he mentions they cut through a mix beautifully, and are absolutely super versatile. From high gain to jazz. They will get you there. Cheers!
They really do work really well! I read somewhere the fusion edge is based off of the dimarzio D Activator and Titan, and given the D Activator is my favorite pickup by them, it does make sense how this works for me
0:45 - If my old guitar memory serves me correctly. They used to call that sort of pattern _'Crushed black Pearl'_ , _'Black Pearloid/Crushed black pearloid'_ . Not quite sure what Ibanez calls it. Its a bit too abstract to be a quilted top. Normally crushed pearl/black pearloid would be used on scratchplates and pickguards but it looks beautiful on this guitar.
@@HighZ of course not 🤣 thats just the style. They also do a white version that were used on older Yamaha Pacifica's and fenders strats from the 90s. I love the black pearloid look though. I don't think many other manufacturers used them apart from yamaha and fender.
@Rose.Of.Hizaki it's quite nice! I feel like it's familiar in that it's been seen on pickguards but unique in that it's on the body. This has been pretty cool learning g about this. I love how much history the electric guitar has for each of its features per manufacturer - neck profiles, body shapes and designs, etc. For example I never realized that subtle bump on the bass side of the TG's neck picket was to help prevent cracks
You can replace the trem arm and socket with ones from Floyd Rose. I replace mine with the push in version, it' s a considerable upgrade as you can adjust the tension over time so you always have positive contact between arm and trem.
Excellent video and solos. What is your choice, for rock, psychodelic rock, jazz, metal 1) rg5320c + sss strat (hh + sss) $$ (double price and weight) 2) rg8570 (hsh) $ 3) hsh + sss strat $$$ in hsh config, cant activate bridge neck hh together. Is Bridge+neck hh necessary? Thank you
I don't really play psychedelic rock so I can't say for sure what works for that, but for things like jazz I feel a good neck pickup is important to, and for rock and metal a good bridge pickup is required. It's going to come down to your amp/pedals/plugin tones. Middle position HH can dound great or horrible depending on your settings. I have enjoyed the middle position cleans from HH before but a neck position on a strat is a legendary tone. Whatever you find yourself using more, along with what kind of guitar you like playing (for example an HH guitar won't have a middle pickup getting in your way) should be the guitar you go for
Great detailed review! I'm planning on getting a used lefty version of it. Does it have unfinished fretboard? Bcause ill be cleaning it and planning to apply Music nomad's F-one oil if ever.
I have the deep forest metallic version of this, damn the action is extremely low! Binding on the body is yellowing faster than on the neck (it stays on the case when not in use) and the neck screws are not coming loose. Hardware on mine is chrome and are not showing signs of wear at all
Sounds like a great guitar! Always interesting to see which parts age the fastest. I have an E-II Arrow where the binding around the headstock has ages the most
Good question. I haven't done full research into replacing them but I would absolutely pick some that have the actual wheel you tighten on the back. Locking tuners like those have never failed me and it's always easy to know if they're locked and how to lock them
Great review, would loved to have heard you playing it now and then through an amp, to hear it on its own. I think it would have added to the review. I own an Ibby budget model, and am a fan of their guitars.
Wow, it looks great in the video. I didn't think it looked that good from the pictures on the Ibanez website. I might get one. My RG5121 is fine, but I want one with a trem and passive pickups. I was looking at a Schecter Banshee Mach 7, but I might get this instead. My other Prestiges have been great, so this might be a safer bet. Oh, and what a beautiful cat you have.
Thank you! She loves to get involved in every video and song. As for the guitar, you'll find it's much higher quality than the Schecter since it's a MIJ Prestige. It will on average be slightly heavier due to the higher quality wood as well. The playability is on a whole other level though, you won't be disappointed
Seems like a lot of guitar for $2,000. Never purchased an Ibanez due to their off the wall colors. But the finish on this model looks really cool. Did you weigh the guitar? Is it Les Paul heavy?
Good question. Nope it's not Les Paul heavy. It's about 8.2 lbs. All these RGs seem to weigh anywhere from upper 7 lbs to low to mid 8lbs. I have a solar T1.7, that thing is Les Paul heavy - 11lbs! This RG feels perfect, especially compared to that
My previous guitar))) have been playing it for about 8 month. The glossy surface, the body design, the materials, the pickups, the playability are the awesome. The only reason why I sold it is the nasty tremolo 🤦🏻♂️ And the other sad moment is the Thomann has sent me the b-stock repaired guitar instead of new one. I was very upset about it for the first time. Shame on them!
Bummer to hear yours didn't work as well. I've had mine since 2020 and have blocked the tremolo for some time. I did have it free floating for 2 years and it was my most stable trem guitar, but I think I got lucky because this prestige is slightly better than the other prestiges I have somehow
i have the same guitar since 2020, it was my first prestige model and i really felt it very bright at the begining, but with time and new presets on the helix has a really nice tone and a presice out put for every distortion... its very good, i recomend to not modify it!
Like if I ordered your review ! I got me a 5120 in 2019, and was considering between floyd or a hipshot bridge. However as I aswell got a 1989 Jem with a Floyyd, I went for the 5120. Long story short: i just bought the 5320 25mins ago 🤣
the 5120 is an awsome metal spear, however active pickups are somewhat special in homerecording like in use with plugins or an axe etc. Noinetheless the 5xxx prestige are imho always a good hit. Thx, really awaiitng the 5320 tuesday @@HighZ

Thanks! Definitely tried to make a helpful resource here. And thank you!!! It feels surreal making it this far
Kudos on the review mate! Great layout and talking points while staying unbiased

Definitely a neat trick!
I learned this trick from a Japanese luthier back in the 90's. It works great and looks super neat!
Highly recommended to anyone who hasn't tried it!
Cool demo... appreciate it maaaan 🤘

Thanx for the review! I do like this guitar, but I am not a high gain guy. Can U play blues with it too? Thanx!
Hello, yes you can play blues. Make sure the neck profile is comfortable for you for all the techniques you need to do
