For anyone who hasn't seen his full sets or his recent live streams, do yourselves a favor and watch them in their entirety. There's absolutely nobody doing the kind of improvisational production at this level, hands down. I've been watching him in 2008 already, when his live setup was only hardware. It simply amazes me how much he evolved. Watched this video from start to end. Nice job guys.
Yh man I remember being a kid watching his recording of live shows he's done and it's mad what he's done inspired me to fanny about a bit with music production software and that
We've all at some point just wished that we could get the groove, melody, bass etc. that's in our head and just upload it directly into our software. Only Beardyman has actually achieved this.
First decent explanation I have found of how this is setup, super informative. He’s taken a lot of ideas and put them together in really interesting ways, truely one of the greats.
Also, is there any chance the Foreman brothers' parents have written a book on how to foster and nurture talented kids, because I would read the shit out of that
Just discovered Beardyman. Thanks for this run-down! He’s cracked the code of real-time live music production on a level I haven’t seen before. I think the real key is using his voice. He eliminates the need for diving through presets, designing patches and scrolling through pages of drum samples all in one fell swoop. Brilliant.
Cool, I thought since the first beadytron the iPads were running custom software doing the actual processing, but they are controling expert sleeper and FX plugins sat on ableton... That as a concept makes this more achievable, tho obviously years of layers complexity and refienment from a master creator is what makes it work! Great deeper explanation vid , thanks
I just had this same revelation! Given that the iPads are simply controlling things in Ableton, designing a similar rig is just a matter of setting things up in a DAW and configuring control surfaces... Very doable! Props to the Master tho 👌

Djs are there to play music for people to enjoy. They don't have to be musicians as well. Get your priorities straight. Also wide knowledge of music and what to play for the crowd your playing for is far more important than technical DJ skills.

Beardyman is probably the best at creating music out of his head on the fly, but he is pulled in way too many directions to focus on creating single great songs people will listen to for years and years. Like this guy Reinhardt Buhr is very similar to Beardyman, not as skilled at changing things up so fast, but he's more into using these skills to refine his music. You can focus on things where he is not. Anytime you see him live or in interviews, you see he's kinda got ADD..
Hey. Impressive work. Thanx lot! Really wanted to saw in to your setup) So why not to use dummy racks in tracks that's like utility group just sending the control. Also, did you digging into clyphx or bidule?
Beardyman should use the new macro snapshots feature in live 11 to handle some of his fx variations etc. It's prolly a lot less scripting and a lot easier to edit presets on his buttons than it was when he built this. Or maybe he built this v5 rig after live 11 launched idk I couldn't tell. For real though these Beardytrons need to be available to others. This rig is so cool and even if it was like $20k, I have to assume there are plenty of touring artists who could and would take advantage of having a live setup like this. Find a way to bring Beardytron to the masses and it will change the way modern music is performed.
