    Visited this place in November 2020. Hotel by itself is outstanding: nice location, friendly staff, lots of activities in the hotel but the most important that it is just 3 minutes away from must visit Xcaret park. It is why we booked this hotel. There are two big cons: rooms do not have heaters and the assortment of food in main buffet is very poor.

    We are staying here at the moment and here is my honest and factual review.
    1. Location is great
    2. Facilities are great, super clean, and well kept.
    3. You are in the middle of nature so you will love the landscape.
    What needs to be fixed:
    1. Food is bad, for example we ordered some tacos and pizza at Pacos tacos and a Lunchable pizza will taste better than this. Taco Bell would be much better.. so that’s how bad it was.
    2. For new years, every single restaurant has the same exact menu.. except the restaurant at the Royal section which will only have 3 options.. and the buffet which we will try later.
    3. The pools are super cold and there is only 2 jacuzzi section which are not heated …seriously what kind of jacuzzi is not heated ?
    The pools are pretty much empty because they are really cold.. for ranges of $800-$1,500 per night they should have heated pools. They have plenty of flat surfaces on the buildings roof where they can install solar panels in order to warm up the pools if they want to be environmental..
    4. The place is huge so to get from one restaurant to another you have to walk 20 mins.. + they should have at least 5 more golf carts which is what they use to transport people from one section into another… otherwise you will have to walk a lot. I don’t mind doing it for one day… but imagine staying here for 3 days where you have to walk every single day…
    5. The food and drinks are really bad!
    Whoever writes positive about the food
    Or drinks have never had good food.. and probably eat at McDonalds… so for them this food is upscale and “good” lol
    They water down the drinks, the pineapple and orange juice.. taste like cheap juice that you will buy from a 7/11. They do this… in order to save money because offering “all you can eat” “all inclusive” means millions of dollars on a yearly basis just for food and thus they will always try to cut on the quality of the food and drinks in order to be able to have profits.
    I will rather for the owners to get rid of the “all inclusive” nonsense.. reduce the hotel rooms prices and charge for the food while providing better quality.
    I wouldn’t come back and I wouldn’t recommend it.
    It is better to stay at another 5 star Hotel than to stay at this “all inclusive” resort.

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  3 года назад +1

      The beach lagoon was awesome and shallow enough for me to mess around in, but it had deeper parts out by the netting. I guess a larger beach or a more natural beach would be fun, rather than just the rocky area to access the open ocean, but ehhh... didn't bother us too much!! :P

    Is Occidental an official part of Xcaret? I called and was confused, they seemed to lead me to believe that it was not and recommended Arte Hotel. It seemed like if I stayed at Arte that the price would include all of the parks and everything except just one restaurant. Could you clue me in please?

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  Год назад

      No, the Occidental property is not directly affiliated with Xcaret Park, though they do sell tickets to the park and have a footpath as well as boat transportation to and from the park. The only properties that we know are actually affiliated with the park are Hotel Xcaret, which is next door to Occidental, and the newer Arte property you mentioned. We haven’t stayed at either of those, as they were priced so much higher than Occidental when we visited.

    We just booked a deluxe because it was cheaper for our family. Is there a big difference with that room vs deluxe concierge, & deluxe plus? Are the deluxe rooms in a bad location? What day of the week would you recommend going to Xcaret Park?

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  3 года назад

      No, plain ol' Deluxe is good! Usually buildings 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 on the map, and that's where the monkeys tend to hang out more, especially on the upper levels. I don't necessarily think that the concierge or extra levels make it that different, ha ha... As for Xcaret, I don't know that they really have a "busy" day... maybe just avoid weekends, like we would for theme parks back home. :P

      @parodeejay  3 года назад

      Hotel Xcaret is much more expensive but includes access to multiple Xcaret family parks. Occidental is next door to Xcaret Park but doesn’t automatically include any admission. You have to purchase that separately. That’s the main difference in my mind.

  • @moniquemccormick3325
    @moniquemccormick3325 3 года назад +1

    We’re planning a visit to Cancun and looking at this resort. But as I understand you correctly the Xcaret park is something added on and not automatically included when booking at the Occidental? Also when they say covid test is available, is it free with the resort or for a fee? And if there is a fee can you tell me how much?

    • @parodeejay
      @parodeejay  3 года назад

      Correct, with Occidental, the passes to Xcaret Park are additional. Some folks confuse this property with Hotel Xcaret next door which is far more expensive but includes access to all the Xcaret family of parks. We didn’t require COVID testing when we visited Occidental, but we’ve heard it’s available for a fee. I’d say contact the resort maybe to find the fee as we have no personal experience with that.
