    #Prince #PurpleRain #lovesexy
The hydraulic-powered stage at London's Wembley Arena, he had been the embodiment of randy energy, a funk evangelist promising he could personally service the diverse sexual needs of a mesmerized crowd of eight thousand. He had the audience chanting that God was alive, that God was love. The message had been delivered in a choreographic display of Kama Sutra gymnastics, and in a dizzying gamut of musical styles with all the reflexive intensity of a man speaking in tongues.
By 1988 Prince had them all Converted. Over a decade-long career of twelve massively influential albums and three feature-length films, Prince has led his public through a game of hide-andseek with an unrivaled gut sophistication. His grudging early interviews offered cryptic contradictions and falsifications- about his age, his racial background, his parents, even his real name-while his records, from the beginning, were a psychosexual striptease (most provocatively on 1980's Dirty Mind in "Sister," a reputedly autobiographical exploration of the liberating powers of incest).
He is that artist who comes fully alive only in performance. By 1988, most Prince gossip told of a moody, socially awkward man who was spotted dancing abstractedly with his bodyguards at a New York nightclub; who refused to join his fellow stars for the "We Are the World" single because, he later apologized with atypical humility. (The best printed Prince gossip story, in the National Enquirer, had him losing both girlfriend Sheena Easton and his chauffeur because he insisted they communicate with him telepathically.) Even the supposed self-portraiture of his biggest commercial success, the movie Purple Rain, unveils nothing more than an alienated, inarticulate man whose communicative redemption comes onstage at the film's conclusion in a song entitled, no less, "Baby I'm a Star."
The results of this compulsiveness were breathtaking, an increasingly eclectic brew of black, white, funk, rap, jazz, pop-you name it-melded into one smooth, polyphonic, synthesizerstroked package. Critics and fellow musicians compared him to everyone from Duke Ellington to Jimi Hendrix, from Joni Mitchell to the Beatles to Philip Glass. He was rumoured to have watched Amadeus dozens of times, the way Nixon watched Patton. It was evident in the way he presented himself. After all, Prince too was a musical polymath, a foulmouthed convention breaker, a man with a giant contempt for commercial tameness.
Then there's God. "Why would God choose an obscene child to be his instrument?" laments Mozart's untalented rival, Salieri, in Amadeus. Ask Prince. The singer had always given God generous credit on albums and films, and a messianic strain has always been a part of his music. With Lovesexy, however, Prince had become divine. He shelved the gritty, funk-driven, decidedly earthbound Black Album (now the hottest bootleg tape around) and released the seraphic, sweeter-voiced (but still sex-dominated) Lovesexy, in which willing flesh and willing spirit are merged. In a parable in the tour concert program, Prince hinted that the Black Album was the work of "Spooky Electric," his name for the Prince of Darkness (who also showed up on Lovesexy, as the embodiment of youthful anomie, the force that drives people to drink and drugs). "Spooky Electric must die," writes Prince. "Die in the bodies of women who want babies that will grow up with a New Power Soul Love Life Lovesexy-the feeling u get when you fall in love, not with a girl or boy, but with heaven above." And in the haunting ballad "Anna Stesia," he segues seamlessly from girl to God. Prince has even been proselytizing offstage, in his own oblique way. At Wembley a congregation of selected fans received autographs. They read, "Love God P '88."
Like everything he did, Prince's new incarnation as holy avatar, was weirdly topical. In the age of AIDS, sex and religion were more explicitly linked than they'd been in years. The American leg of Prince's Lovesexy tour came in the wake of The Last Temptation of Christ. Not to mention the fall from grace of flesh-loving television evangelists Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swaggart. Theirs, in any case, is one problem the evangelical Prince would never have to face.

Prince’s video for little Red Corvette broke before 1999. 1999 actually had to be re-released because it initially didn’t do well. Once little Red Corvette got hot they re released 1999. However, Eddie Grant was first to air, but Joan Armatrading beat them all. The credit Michael gets for breaking the black barrier is because Billie Jean was purely R&B. Also because he was just smashing down all racial barriers with Thriller.

20:12 This press release mentions two Chicago shows at Rosemont Horizon, selling out in 58 minutes. A 3rd show was added and I attended that show. I came dressed in my best Prince inspired outfit. Almost got mobbed. People thought I was part of the show.
That night was incredible, but there is one moment I will never forget. There was a man two rows ahead of me. He was skin and bones, obviously dying. When Prince hit the stage, people held him up so he could see Prince. The memory still brings tears to my eyes.

The album was his rebirth- if you listen one track done purposefully so you cant skip u listen to his confessional/devotional. At least that’s what I hear when I hear loveSexy

This was great to see, thank you Sinnik22.
I was only 27 years Old when I actually arrived in the City of St.Paul,Minnesota with my girlfriend and various children in 1989 and Began to actually design various types of outfits along with the actual Batman Beyond Character and Name itself in 1990.
So I actually know what it literally sells like when your working on so many different types of things to which others ultimately will Financially Benefit from as your immently left out to dry yourself.
"God puts us where we're neeeded as we're needed."as I believe that and had once told Prince that-("God Has A Sense Of Humor,And That I Was The Other One."(Jokingly."😇")
He knew me as(The Cavalier Moonchild)back then between 1990-1994 as like to actually play Electric Guitar & Keyboard and visited various Music Stores thus checking out the various types of New Instruments coming out and immently getting to know the Wstore Staff while actually trying it various types of Musical Équipement (Thus getting some attention)and occasionally helping to sell some Instruments afterwards as certain people who actually buy the actual Instruments that I had just played and put down (So I helped a little bit)which made me feel good as I was actually giving back in a small way.)
Things definitely are not the same without Prince or Michael Jackson but I often think about them and find the actual needs to pick-up and instrument and Go wild remember them both-"Thanks Sinnik22,You Made My Day Wonderful Day."😀-😁"

@@zakiasimpson8928 There comes a point that as Prince loving fans, may have to start challenging established stories, that are often taken as factual gospel and repeated over and over and over again.
These fans, especially of the more experienced set, not to draw a line of smug 'entitlement' superiority, no, none of that, may need to start re-interpreting or re-encapsulating, I'm searching for the right word, Prince's story, his life as we as fans know it. We don't and shouldn't probably know everything.
However, these people, INCLUDING those that are supporting these established stories through publications such as books of what Prince did everyday in his life... etc... need to be challenged. What we know so far, has to be reconfigured in a different context of perception.
For example, Prince's fight against Warner Bros and ownership may have been more than just against his label, but also his former managers. The more you look at different stories, some fact, some unverifiable, the more you can connect the dots.

I don't see Alice Cooper's " Cold Ethel " song up there but goes after the Purple Rain soundtrack eventhough the movie was rated R so obviously for mature audiences. My mom would let me have the soundtrack. She took me to that movie's grand opening. 💜

Keep up the great work. I fell prince should have taken a break. I know he was so creative but he need time to focus on what direction he wanted to go in

It is funny that Prince' took off his clothes a month after playboy released Denise on April 1988. Lovesexy was released on May 1988.
Just like he married one year after Denise got married in 1995.

13:55. I'll be petty, she's referring to Wendy & Lisa's music after she'd finished talking about PR. Wendy and Lisa absolutely put from Joni more than Prince did and it shows.

I don’t think Cat was a good friend to Prince. She knew his stance on drugs but disregarded that. Drugs lost her the job she had with Prince and that was the best she ever had.
