Thankyou for the kind words everyone, but I never went anywhere! I've released two videos in the last month 😂 This is a lore breakdown rather than a full recap which is the content I stopped making. There just hadn't been much lore for us to get into until now, and I am so pumped for it! Looking forward to doing more videos like this one ☺ Psssst I also dropped a bonus video on Patreon: www.patreon.com/luboffin
So glad to see another cr video up! I love your take and a bigger focus on the lore and backstory rather than a blow by blow - you obviously put so much work into your videos, that's why they're so enjoyable and easy to watch!
I'm totally down for this format moving forward. As someone starting in campaign 3, getting all the juicy bits that I would have missed is well welcomed. Appreciate your content and glad to see you're back at it. Love me some lore deep dives and theory crafting!
Also, call out to one the most bad ass fighter turns ever from Liam! The amount of damage he did in that single turn to the Juggernaut and still having the movement to leap out of the lava at the end after killing it? My jaw was on the floor! Fighters gonna fight!
You completely brushed over the fact that Fearne was called into the pool of lava and that it felt right that they two of them were needed to pull the shard.. i need more lore/fantheories on that!!
I’m like 99% sure it was basically confirmed that the Zephrah attackers who “melted” were Otohan’s echoes created with use of vials of Dunamis in the backpack machine.
I know it's a lore breakdown but it was a good way to get excited again (which is what recaps did for me). Whatever content you make I'm glad you're enjoying it with us!
1:02 I've felt this way about the entirety of campaign 3, to be honest. It doesn't feel like the party is picking what to pursue. It feels like every time they get off on a fun tangent, Ludinis or the Red Moon or the magical apocalypse pops it's head in to say, "hey, no more side stuff! you've gotta go do this thing!". It doesn't feel like the party has a choice, it doesn't feel like they're making the decisions. It doesn't feel like D&D, to be honest. It feels more like a video game that keeps stopping you on your side quests to tell you to progress the main story before doing anything else.
So, here's something that it doesn't seem anyone has noticed, at the end of the episode when Matt is just getting them up to speed on where Joe is, in Whitestone, he mentions that it was to get help from Percy AND Vesper, Percy and Vex's eldest daughter. Now unless I missed it, I don't think it was mentioned that Vesper would also being helping out with this. What shocks me is that no one at the table seemed to pick up on the slip. Now it could have been a miswording and what he meant to say was Dancer, but either way, mentioning Vesper, even if unintentionally, defiantly seems to signify that we'll be getting an appearance from her next episode.
i think i might have an answer to this. might be a theory but stick with me a second. Percy mentioned when giving Fearne the popgun for Mister that he had made it for Vesper. Which implies she had an interest in her father's gun. if that is the case its likely he taught her how to tinker so someone in the de Rolo family would continue the work. She's probably not as skilled as her father given the age difference but like Joe said the more hands working on this the better.
I really love the shattered teeth. So many interesting moments. A ghost ship, a frog house and a possible future seeing druid turned tree. And this was merely in 2 islands. Imagine if the found the ruins of the heralds tome and see loquacious's news broadcast
Bless you for making this video. 😭 I was so very confused after episode 74, and didn't know why people were all freaking out. I've seen Calamity, but that series was also so lore heavy, that I didn't quite grasp it all. But the way you lay everything out and link them up to each other makes so much more sense to me.
With all the constant callbacks to C1 and C2 I hope Matt is planning a massive finale with 2 mini-one shots before it with the cast playing their C1 characters and C2 characters to distract/open the way for Bells Hells to get access for the final showdown. Would be so fun, and for Liam's characters and Beau they could be one of the other many NPC's that seem ready to come for the battle.
I feel like once the shard of the fire titan is taken by someone (I agree, it should be Fearne. I have seen hints that the two of them may be a thing and I am here for it.) it *will* awaken something with Ashton's titan shard. Matt made several notes that the fire shard seemed to be reacting to the presence of the shard in Ashton. Went out of his way to make some of them even, such as when he noted to the rest of Bells Hells that the bubbling where the shard was had lessened when Ashton got near it.
Heeeey, such a nice video 💙💙💙💙 You make really good points, here are my thoughts: - I agree, Ludinus' spell was probably Weird, maybe flavored to bring the consciousness of Predathos to terrify Bells Hells (my own theory) - I think that Evontra'vir wasn't originally in the Tree of Names, but instead, that he either found the remains and used them to become a tree himself, or did so alone to try and become a new Tree of Names, failing in the process. - I think the heart of the fire titan could be Rau'shan's, but not necessarily. It feels like there were several titans of the same element, my theory is that Ka'Mort and Rau'shan were the most powerful of earth and fire respectively, and they created the rest. So maybe the soul anchor belonged to one of Rau'shan's kids! - And last but not least, I really want to see Mister interact with the spark of the Emperor of Fire before they use it! 😂
I think I've said this before but I think Ashton and Fearne are half siblings. I thought it was a coincidence that both their dads were elves and both have some connection to elemental power, but then the tree mentioned Ashton's dad had visions and it was the second rewatch I remembered Oleander, Fearne's had visions of Fearne setting the fey realm on fire. It feels a bit too coincidental for that both these characters have an elven father who can glimpse into the future. So, yeah my theory is Fearne and Ashton are siblings
@@NIKSEEN Now that you mention it, did Matt ever describe what Ashton's dad looked like? I feel like everytime there's flashback Matt focuses more on the mask his dad wears but I recall him ever describing any other features like his hair or eye colour
Glad to see you back! :) Yes, I agree with your theory entirely, and similarly reasoned it out myself. The two trees do have to be connected somehow, even if not exactly how both of us have theorized, so I'm sure we'll find out some way or another (perhaps not until the campaign wrap-up or in a Four-Sided Dive, I suspect, since the PCs don't know enough about the Calamity to have it make sense, most likely). I also hope that Fearne's power-up from the shard does unlock something with Ashton as well, since the two titans were deeply connected. But, we'll have to see there, too!
your earrings are always on point, but these are especially fantastic. thanks for the recap, I need it. one minute in, I agree already, kinda been enjoying the shattered teeth stuff etc.
About Evontravir. Couldn't it be the husband of Cerxus? We already know from Calamity that he got stuck in the tree, because it was protecting from interdimensional travel, which is what they tried to do.
Yaay thanks for taking the time to make a video with a recap! Even if it's a partial recap, the best part has always been seeing your reactions and opinions to the events of the show, and some of the fun clips from the episode too, with some lore breakdown and clarification on how everything connects, or could connect, together. So a full detailed recap is not necessary, at least for me. Looking forward to more videos like this, I'm joining the Patreon! :)
I still think Evandrin of Avalir, stuck between worlds and attached to the sundered Tree of Names, has slowly merged w/ the tree over the past thousands of years and became Evontra'vir, the Tree of Sorrow. Those names are too similar imo. And the story of him being a druid turned into a tree is just a legend past down over the generations. Who has more reason to be sorrowful than Evandrin?
Yay! Thank you yet again for helping me understand the connection. I miss your explanations (I do know why you’ve moved on from the regular posting; all good and applaud you doing best for you) as they really help me make sense of it all. Like I did watch the Calamity short series (tons of fun) but had no idea they had made the connection. I guess I just didn’t hear Matt’s walk through with Chetney. And nothing about the tree…totally missed all that.
The first use of simulacrum in critical role was by Scanlan in campaign 1, via Wish. He did it more than once, including in the battle against Vecna (cast in advance). Also, the tree of names was destroyed in Calamity, not by the Blight spell, but by being sundered as the rift made by Asmodeus when entering Exandria. Also also, Titans and Primordial Titans are different. Remember the one used to attack Vaselheim in C1? That was a just a normal Titan.
I know we are leaning towards Fearne getting the shard but that worries me some. We got a glimpse of a very powerful Fearne and it didn't go well.... It seems crazy but what if the mirror Fearne we saw was a glimpse of absorbing the shard gone wrong? Fearne has matured a lot ( wild to say lol) since EXU but idk it just seems risky. Also I am a child but I have to laugh at the fact that it is unclear if Laudna finished mending Ashton's clothes before Ludi and crew showed up and assuming she is not mending while they are still wearing them, I pictured Ashton just fighting in nothing but their jacket and hammer ☠️☠️
First of all your make up today. Perfection and those earrings OMG. OKay XD ':) So I comented a while ago (i think it was on the video when the party was split and half of them went to Issylra and learned about Ahs's father) I told you then I think Efterin (or however it's spelled) is Luda. Matt described both as charismatic cult leaders. And the aftermath Matt described of what Efterin did there is way too similar to what Molaesmyr looks like. I am 90%sure Luda and him are the same person. Just making the same ritual over and over. Now that weknow the funnel they found in Ludinus's home in Molaesmyr is used for the Titan shards, and Ashton has one in him that his Father put in him...Just too much coincedence. Luda is Ashtons dad. It has to be!
I also think it was the Weird spell. Matt talks about a 30ft sphere. And that's the only one I see that's described as such. But, It could also be just a homebrew spell, since Matt likes to do that with his archmages... "Mages gonna mage". Hmmm chef's kiss!
Hey Luna! Thanks so much for what you do! I come and go as a CR viewer, but I always use your videos to catch up. I'm sorry about what you're going through and the frustration of not seeing the viewership you'd want. Have you thought about doing shorter recaps? I know you're done with recaps, but if you ever decide to give them a go again, maybe a 10-12 minute recap instead of the 25-30 minute ones. Thanks again!
Welcome back! Whether you do full breakdowns or just abridged material it's great all the same, it's important to find the balance that is right for you as a content creator so just know that we are here with you ready to enjoy whatever you create!
ONE QUESTION: since the group gathered the crystal on fake Ludinis's head, *What would happen if FCG used this as a place reference and try to teleport the group where it came from?? *
My theory about Evontra'vir: The Gau Drashari druid was a person in EXU:Calamity and not a tree. They helped a lot of people to get to safety but expelled too much of their energy and they couldn't stay a person. The Tree of Names has been so damaged that it was dying. So they merged their essences and they both stayed alive as one entity.
I just did a 4 episode catch-up over the last week, and was so glad to see you were doing a recap video! I hope your new schedule is working out for you! Also, love the look in this video 👌👌
According to the Tal'Dorei campaign guide, Emon still has a buring scar within it from where Thordak roosted. It's possible that the shard of the fire titan still lies within that crevace and is what's causing that? What if Fearne absorbs the essence and then the crystal flies out of Emon and she inadvertantly fixes that particular problem from Campaign 1???
I was just wondering yesterday if perhaps Ludinus was the previous death god. It says in the wiki that the matron of ravens worked with and was partner of the previous god of death before taking their place and striping their memory. So if they switched situations that means the previous god of death would now be mortal, pissed, have feelings about the matron of ravens, and know the inner workings of gods and their secrets.
Everyone focuses on Ashton being a titan blood and how the 2 mixing might kill him. I think we're forgetting that he also has dunemus juice poured into his skull. I think he SHOULD be the one to take the shard of fire. The 2 mixing might be volatile, but he has fate and time mixing in there, too. I think that would temper the negative effects.
My theory: Ludinus has perfected his consumption cone thing and the beam that currently has Ruidus locked in place is absorbing Predathos' power so Ludinus can become the next "God Eater".
The gau drashari in The tree name was once Matrim Cauthon. The Empress he is sending them to protect. His wife Fortuona. Her soul saved in a crystal. If you read the wheel of time series and really pay attention to the story. You'll see exactly where C1, C2 and C3 started each campaign. By who was introduced first.
Mollymauk was the biggest tell of the series. Padan Fain had a changing accent, and the ability to control the minds of those around him.. much like Mollymauk.. then we meet Caduesus the firbolg.. or Loial the Ogier same thing. Cant remember which chapter we are in in book 4 but its easy to figure out
I'm writing this from a week old memory, but didn’t tree of Atrophy sort of imply that Ashton has met them more than once? It could be just their dad, but I distinctly remember thinking that since Ashton is very likely consecuted (or similarly) then it is possible that 'he/they' could have met this ancient tree before. Idk, I can be wrong, I need to rewatch that scene again.
Good to see you again Luna hope you are very well, I know I'm sounding like a skipping CD here but I belive that Ludinus is Loras of the weavers mask. (His simulacrim being in the shattered teeth (formaly Domunis) only re-enforces this for me
See my theory is that the Druid took themselves into the tree to help heal it somewhat, keep it together and provide a method for others of the city to escape as the transfer via plants probably couldn’t work on the blighted tree
Ok so if Ferne does absorb the Raishaun fragment and becomes some type of representation of the primordial Emperor of Fire the way that Ashton is some type of representation of the primordial Empress of Earth (KaMort) - can we have an Ashton/Ferne ship?
I'm sorry Luna but Evontra'vir himself says he "was of those who trusted empty promises and watched our legacy become ash. I saved the few that I could...." which leads me to believe that the vision is showing his heroics during the Calamity however there is nothing in the vision that says He wasn't a tree already, it's worded as them seeing "hundreds and hundreds of people caught and brought be for a tree to be ushered through it". There is nothing to suggest that he wasn't already a tree at that point but the Tree of Names was at ground zero for the events and also on Avaleer during that time so if he was a tree at the time of the Calamity he wasn't the Tree of Names. It's possible however that after the calamity the Druid who became Evontra'vir (whether he was already a tree or not) found or was brought a piece of what was left of the Tree of Names after the Calamity and fused with its essence to become the Tree of Entropy. I was shocked when Ludinus showed up in the volcano. I was expecting/hoping Ottohan would be the one to show up as she is the one still on Exandria while Ludinus and Imogens mom are on Ruidus. Also it would have been such a sweet climax for the quest to end it on getting vengeance for all that Ottohan did to them, both in the recent events and older backstory events. That counterspell though! I was so hyped flipping Ludinus the finger and then the other when he failed his counterspell back xD as for what spell he's casting I have no clue, just because it was cast at 9th level doesn't mean it has to be a 9th level spell he could have been upcasting something. It could also be a homebrew spell wouldn't put it past Ludinus to have created some powerful spells in his time.
I think the shard should still go to ashton for 2 main reasons. 1 Fearn already has so many abilities and is gaining new spells every other level while being able to change them every rest while Ashton had a bunch of new and cool shit at the start of the campaign it has tapered off severly and it would be cool to see him have more abilities. 2 Ashton is the prmordial one that is his thing while when I think of fearn I think of the feywild and chaos rather than a connection to the primordials, and Ashton currently feels the furthest away from the issues at hand and having him lean into the primordials are necessary to defeat ruidus is more intresting through him
Great theory but wasn't the Tree of Names destroyed along with Zemniaz? Ashton's shard appears to be dormant so maybe contact wiith Fearne's will awaken it.
Something concerning that happened last episode is that Ludinus was about to teleport away with Fearne while also taking note of Ashton. I almost wonder why ue has an intrest in Fearne. Is it because they are going to give her the titan shard? Is it because of her fey ancestry and the connections she has? Or is it because she is Ruidus born and he needs more for a specific reason?
Interesting! I had assumed it was because of Fearne's fae bloodline. After all, Ludinus has a history of consuming the spirits of fae beings, but with the double whammy of her being Ruidus borne, it makes it even more intriguing why he would want her. Easy pickings or targeted?
this might be my memory not remembering correctly but if i recall its harder for someone who isn't fey to get into the faewild maybe he wanted her to help him get around there so he could steal from that plane too.
@@ThatKaylaPerson Elves have enough Fae blood to get into the Far wild. It's her Wildfire Druid blood - he wants to suck her dry and get the fire shard!!!

Something i struggle to crasp... Ludinus scry on Bells Hells. They got teleported. So he's scrying again and then teleport? Or did he know the location? And if the titan shards out there are obtainable, why didn't do it ?🤔
Although we know Mister was pulled from Thordak’s crater we don’t really know what he is. Thordak talked about ‘becoming god’ but there are still loose ends to his plan. If Mister is connected to Thordak and potentially Raushan maybe Fearne was always meant to take the shard of the empress (she is a princess). Also Ludinous targeted Fearne when he attempted to take a hostage. I feel like a Fearne lore dump is just incoming
What if ludinous loses to a ruidus version of himself?? I would expect them to listen to predothos and try to get back to exandria. If that's what they call it

First of all your make up today. Perfection and those earrings OMG. OKay XD ':)
So I comented a while ago (i think it was on the video when the party was split and half of them went to Issylra and learned about Ahs's father)
I told you then I think Efterin (or however it's spelled) is Luda.
Glad to see the recaps are back! Even if its just one video
Not a recap, a lore deep dive :)
This is great. This format is really good.
One of the best recaps to date! Self care leads to better content, hands down.
I was happy to see you back
Yesssss great to see your recaps!!
Amazing summary and truly great lore, reference notes, and theories!
YESSS I KNEW I COULD COUNT ON YOU TO EXPLAIN THIS LATEST LORE DROP 😭
So glad you decided to keep doing these!!!
I just finished 74 last night and only watch VOD on YT so looks like I have hurry with 75 just to watch this 😅
Welcome back! Whether you do full breakdowns or just abridged material it's great all the same, it's important to find the balance that is right for you as a content creator so just know that we are here with you ready to enjoy whatever you create!
It's Weird. Matt also says it's a 30 ft sphere.
Love the “Lore Time” intro!
Love those earrings and your fantastic insights! :)
LORE! omg thank you - i forgot everything from calamity
Cant remember which chapter we are in in book 4 but its easy to figure out
Can’t forget about everyone’s favorite simulacrum mister Pumat Swole
Withers is not a wizard. It is pretty heavily implied that he's in fact Jergal, the Scribe of the Dead
It’s just a joke 😊
@@Luboffin I know, just thought I'd reply with some Forgotten Realms lore. 😄
Your earrings are FIRE lubo!
YOU'RE BACK WITH RECAPS, LUNA! You were out for only a few episodes and I already miss your recaps.
I stopped and said "if Ludinous was our least liked crusty wizard, who is our favorite?" and my brain instantly went .....duh Caleb
Man, you are so damn good at these recaps.
Travis was devastated for sure
I think the shard should still go to ashton for 2 main reasons. 1 Fearn already has so many abilities and is gaining new spells every other level while being able to change them every rest while Ashton had a bunch of new and cool shit at the start of the campaign it has tapered off severly and it would be cool to see him have more abilities. 2 Ashton is the prmordial one that is his thing while when I think of fearn I think of the feywild and chaos rather than a connection to the primordials, and Ashton currently feels the furthest away from the issues at hand and having him lean into the primordials are necessary to defeat ruidus is more intresting through him
Gahhh! I love this. Fackin missed this.
Is it weird that I just noticed Matt and marisha are wearing the same shirt.. 😅
Because she's not only Far but Wildfire Druid and he wants to suck her power!!!!!
@@ThatKaylaPerson Elves have enough Fae blood to get into the Far wild. It's her Wildfire Druid blood - he wants to suck her dry and get the fire shard!!!
2 weeks!!!!! This week MNEIN and next week My brain just blanked out completely WTF!!! 😮 Lol Candela Obscura!!! Where is my head!! Migraine. Your make looks fab BTW!!!! I love your hair too. Lol I went batshit too, dying it is like getting tattoos addicting... Healthy addiction!!! 🎉🎉 Love u girl!! Can't wait till tomorrow!!!! Yahoooooo!!!!
Welcome back Luna! Though I'm very glad you are covering CR content again, please take care of yourself, and take some time away from RUclips if it starts affecting your mental health or home life.
I think the attack on Zephrah was from Otahan and thier shadow clones
Something i struggle to crasp... Ludinus scry on Bells Hells. They got teleported. So he's scrying again and then teleport? Or did he know the location? And if the titan shards out there are obtainable, why didn't do it ?🤔
i was shocked that matt forgot a lvl 3 counterspell vs. another lvl 3 automatically succeeds.
no roll needed for Ludi.
Bells Hells should be paste.
I feel like a Fearne lore dump is just incoming
if fearne takes the shard will her become a fire genase faun?
Avoiding for the avoiding god! Spoilers for the spoiler throne!
yeh i feel the same way about the tree
lol Blighten of Tud
I don't know, I think your Tree of Names theory is stretching it a bit. Sometimes a chair is just a chair, man lol.
I thought the tree of names for exploded by the Asmodeus
I want Fyra'rai to get the shard. >_>
RIP Tomagochi.
What if Fearne is no longer fire.... but ice.... If Mister comes out as an ice monkey? Why? Because of the ghost captain.
What if ludinous loses to a ruidus version of himself?? I would expect them to listen to predothos and try to get back to exandria. If that's what they call it
YAY LORE !!!!
Dangerous looking earrings. 😮
