    Funnily enough, I just started the first game yesterday, and I'm really loving it. If that love continues, then for sure I'll be getting this later in the year, especially after you recommending it.

    Having played both, the knock back system feels more satisfying than the first game and not dying at 100% glitch saves a lot of hassle.

    The first game was last year's most unexpected suprise for me. I was very unsure if I would like it because I heard it was part visual novel, but I needed to play a jrpg at the time. The story really stuck with me and battle system was fun and challenging.

    Just recently finished Death End Re;Quest 2 so I can finally watch this video xD And omg I loved it! This game is definitely a lot darker than the first one ever was but that story was so good! Honestly I'm hoping for a part 3 in the near future

      I haven't played the 2nd game yet, but I can 100% tell you the 1st game is SUPER worth playing. To me it really felt like Compile Heart cared about Death End and wanted it to do well over here. Especially considering it has some triple A English dubbers in it. If you like Danganronpa, Jrpgs, or Visual Novels in general PLEASE pick this game up.

      Same here. I bought the first one on sale a while back, but haven't gotten to it yet because my backlog is pretty substantial. It has definitely moved to the top of my to do list now though.

    Hi! I just wanna thank you for this review, you're the whole reason I gave the 1st game a chance, I watched Tarks Gauntlets review and wrote it off for awhile but a few months later I found your review and decided I'd go ahead and buy the game. I'm now a huge fan and have no regrets. I just ordered the Collectors edition of Death End Re;Quest 2 as well, I can't wait. ❣️

    I just started the original game last weekend. It was kinda glitchy for me (no pun intended) on PC. Sound disappears at times. I've been enjoying it though. I like how it goes from MMO to real world. I'm thinking of getting 2 but will have to wait and see. Most likely will get it for PS4 if I do. Nice review!

    finished the first one during NZS big corona lockdown in march and absolutely loved it from the gameplay to the dark horror tones of the story and how it kept drawing me back in to get all ending and all of the death ends. will def be getting the sequel when it comes out and am incredibly happy to hear that they will still have english dub for it so it will feel nostalgic when i play and reencounter shina

    given the scene at the end of the NG+ true end, there's definitely another game coming. i really look forward to resolving the larger arc, and it makes me wonder if there will be yet another cliffhanger and a fourth one after that. i feel like this series could be a real breakout one for compile heart. they've usually been pretty niche, but this one got a lot of more mainstream interest, and i wish them the best in growing as a company.

      Thank you for reminding me to finish the true end arc, I've kept it on my PS4 hard drive to do it but only got halfway :3 really excited to see that larger arc and I truly hope we see more :) it's one of their more popular series right now for a reason!

    • @seanbcusack
      @seanbcusack 3 года назад +1

      ng+ has a ton of new scenes, tho true end on ng+ is identical to ng (so if you don't notice any differences, don't worry), but at the very end of it, there's a few additional scenes that tie it in and set up the next game in line. enjoy!

    • @seanbcusack
      @seanbcusack 3 года назад

      oh also, this is something i only recently noticed... AFTER you watch that extra scene, go back and watch the new OP and pay attention to who has the gun at 50s ruclips.net/video/a-XEV-Gy9Sc/видео.html - oh man, this needs an explanation. it also ties in with one of the out of the blue ng+ scenes during the game that didn't make sense at the time. it's really a tangled set of clues about something really dark.

    I don`t know if i will get it immediately. if it's like the first one, it can be quite depressing and times are depressing enough right now. but I'm sure I'll play it one day, because it's very unique.
    what I would love to see is a sequel to Dragonstar Varnir, where the little sisters take over! (I saved them all, of course!) my story :-)): the (not so liitle anymore) sisters go on a journey to free the older ones (one by one - party growth!), who are abducted by ...blablabla. and, of course, we can have a time limit for every rescue, or we get some elder dragons ;-)
    change of topic: do you know about a game callled "Aegis Rim"? if not, check out the preview by "Playstation Underground". I guarantee, you will love it! ;-). if you can get your hands on it (sometimes, somehow...), that would be great! day one purchase for me!

      I would love a sequel to Dragon Star Varnir too! I think Varnir and DERQ were Compile Heart's best games last year, it would be great to see both continue! :)

    The point of this game (the 1st one and the 2nd one) was never to avoid death, it was to save your game before and going through the painful death scenes of the characters to unlock special items in the menu until you reach the "good outcome". I hope this one won't face useless censorship like Fairy tail had.

    I am really trying hard to force myself to keep playing this game, but... I'm really not enjoying it. The constant text dumps are a serious issue of "tell don't show." Already got the game pre-ordered, and I'm really looking forward to it, but there's one thing I'm curious about. Are characters able to access all of their skills in battle, or are they still limited to a fixed number of slots like the first game? I thoroughly enjoyed the first game, but having to constantly change out skills in order to figure out the right combinations to learn new ones became a bit of a hassle after a while.

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  4 года назад +1

      That’s a good question, one I’m not totally sure about tbh. In saying that, I never had to switch out skills, so either I was unlocking them slower than I did in the first one or it’s not an issue. If I ever find out in my post-game playthrough, I’ll comment back and let you know :)

    Kinda skipped the first one, but went back and watched the review of it, and it feels like this one is streamlined to the point of being easy compared to the first one, there being no downside into grabbing up bugs and glitching out for one thing, but I haven't really needed to glitch to finish any fight, feels like its there to overkill mobs for the bonus xp to skip grinding. Was this review spoiler light, in that a mechanic like the battle hacking and summoning come in later? Cause it just feels like there is less to do here, gonna finish it for story anyway though.

    • @JRPGJungle
      @JRPGJungle  4 года назад +1

      There’s no battle hacking and summoning in this one, which definitely adds to the feeling that it’s streamlined:3 I kind of preferred it as some of the battle hacking in the last one could’ve been better, but yeah you do have less mechanics to play with in this one which could be a positive or negative :3 in any case, I hope you enjoy it :))

    • @Razor1Name
      @Razor1Name 4 года назад

      Yeah, there is no hacking or other things in here. Just the default battle system. But this battle system is way better than the previous one as it makes you think before doing actions, forcing you to consider the battlefield as HP damaging bugs on the field can be used by both the player and the enemy, both receiving the same amount of damage when stepping onto them. There are field bugs that are exclusively there to make you transform into the Glitch Mode as well as the enemies being a lot harder, more so come Chapter 6 and onwards. The new Auto mode really makes it stick because you can just use it if you feel like the fight is getting tedious with no real consequences. There are also a lot of strategies that you can use in this one, so stepping away from that cluster of unusable options is a lot better, not to mention that you need to consider the actual field when using your skills now, because there are times where you don't want to damage the field bugs at all in order to progress more smoothly through the fight.
