- Aesthetically pleasing with its promo art, music and dark themes, I was excited to finally try the Caligula Effect: Overdose last month. These are my thoughts, enjoy!

This is the most positive review I have seen for this game, and you didn't even mention Persona. Great informative review!
I'm so glad you gave this game a fair chance and didn't go for the lazy Persona comparisons like so many other reviewers have.
Just bought this because of the aesthetic alone. Excited to give it a try (only about an hour in) but a lot of reviews gave it a hard time. Thanks for your review - you got me back into it!

Such an underrated game.
This is definitely gonna be a must own for me. I absolutely love the style, and I've had my eye on it since it came out for Vita (lack of a physical release put me off) but I had no idea they added this much to the Overdose version

Thanks for that review. People has so much bad things to say about this game but nobody seems to go so much in depth with it. I get that people review games for everyone but it's important to understand that some games are made for a specific audience. This game looks right up my alley and I think I'll also get it on ps4 to have the full experience. Great review and thanks for helping me decide between versions. Cheers :)

after seeing that the game is getting a sequel, and after seeing this positive review a opposed to all the negative ones iv seen, decided im gonna hve to pick this game up sometime and finally try it myself :-)

Wow they really put in work on revamping this game, looks like a straight up sequel, not the same game I checked out on vita. Decided not to get it then but seeing this version I'm definitely gonna snag it!

The combat looks very interesting but I'm not a huge fan of the social life (already enough trouble in mine xD). Great review btw, I'm definitely considering it for the summer.

Excellent review! The combat system looks super interesting. Unrelated question, when a game has both voiceover and subtitles, do you find yourself listening to the full dialogue or skipping though once you've read ahead?
I have to listen to the whole thing haha I watch my boyfriend skip through and I think it's incredible lol (no bad feelings about it, I just literally can't do it lol if I accidentally skip, I replay the line XD)

@@JRPGJungle honestly I usually skip it :( my preference is to have subtitles off, really. I don't even like watching movies with subtitles because I find them very distracting.
I get it with movies and stuff, so I can understand :3 off is sometimes better, but then I miss them if I don't hear a line properly 😅 I guess they're much more common in games though :3
i dig the production values in p5 alot but the slow ass pace before you REALLY get into the action holds it back for me. this looks like it gets to the point way faster, and with a more interesting combat system.
I'm currently about 10 hours in at this point, and I'm enjoying it for sure. But I'm unsure how to complete side missions for the NPCs when they all blend together
I've been really dissappointed with Nelke and the Mysterious Alchemists game so far so I'm glad I also have this game to fall back on. Great review!

I just started playing this. I absolutely love the combat. Quick question though... What do.you have to do.to get the students to give you their side quests? Is it just get their relationships up? Mine sent be stuck at 3...
For the students you have at three, have a look at their profiles and it should detail what you need to do for their quest :)

honestly feel its borderline irresponsible how badly reviewers buried this game? clearly better than 63, didnt even stand a chance :/
also confident that the reviewers overly focused on Persona comparisons aren't even big into JRPGs anyway. whole thing is a bummer
Lol. It’s funny cause I nabbed it on switch while it was on sale before realizing it was also on sale for PS4
This game is on sale on ps4 right now. If it wasn't on sale for less than half it's price then I probly never would've thought about buying it.
That being said the premise is reminding me a lot of the last parts of persona 5 royal. Considering I just beat that recently I'm very much buying this to give it a try.
Interesting, knew the game had a previous iteration. Didn’t know it was vita though.
The 500 don't really add replay-ability. Most of their lines and such are copy pasted.

well its a rpg so if you want to play this game on the go also then choose the switch version as ps4 isnt really portable

Honestly, this game was a major letdown in my opinion.
This looks a lot like P5. Did you find that to be true?
AndrewAtoZ no. Definitely not. The lackluster performance of this game can never even touch the Polish of persona 5
@@dragoskai Persona 5 was triple AAA title this is a double Title. So it's not going to reach that level unless it has a bigger budget. Man i hate gamers like you.
Eric Nick or, not. There are a lot of indie titles out there with that level of polish and better, much less double a. This game, and I too have done a review on it, doesn't look or feel great. I can appreciate this review, but hey, people can have different opinions my dude.
For me personally, other than the high school dungeon crawler theme and the fact there are social mechanics, the tone was different enough that I didn't find them that similar. It's maybe similar in a way that Blue Reflection was similar to Persona 5 with similar mechanics and story beats at the start, but like I said, different tone IMO and as the story continues, I don't think they go in the same direction :)
@@dragoskai Name the indie games that has the same level as quality as a triple AAA title. Its not about having an opinion or not, it more of understanding how game development works and constraints most developers have when developing games. Why does it matter that you review games? Apparently every game has to be a 10/10 triple AAA title or else its all of sudden deemed worthless. Itsno wonder people outside this community don't even take gamers serious when we have people like this. Christ
