    PLEASE READ THIS UPDATE BEFORE COMMENTING. Thank you to those who left great insight!! It looks like there are a variety of piece shapes in some of their 1000 pieces. On their website there is no way to tell which is which and all the images make it seem as if they are all only 2/2. I did reach out to my contact at Eurographics and it does appear that the website does not give any indication that the pieces are different. I shared the feedback that it would help shoppers to know which style of piece the puzzle is. They are happy to get this feedback and are looking into it. I was also told that they are already in the works for improving their 1000 piece puzzles to have more variety of piece shapes. So yay!!

    I have not gone this brand but I feel like a have a good understanding of it from the range of puzzles you did. Would love to see more brands covered like this.

    Wow! They sent you some beautiful images. I loved the 100 piece count images.
    Thanks so much for including the smaller piece counts!!❤ i sometimes do 100 piece count puzzles for a quick puzzle fix.
    I havent done a Eurographics puzzle yet. I'm looking forward to it.
    Thanks so much for sharing this! ❤❤😊 Happy Puzzling!

    Interesting to see how frequently the crumbliness is mentioned. I figured part of it on my end was because I was redoing puzzles I bought secondhand. It's funny, too, because I feel like the pieces fit in great - no false fits and a good sense of satisfaction when the piece clearly goes in (it almost feels like a magnetic pull sometimes) and, yet, there's crumbliness. I've also tried one of their panorama which also had the crumbliness. I have many in my to-do pile. It's a very common brand in the Ottawa region.

      Seems to be a common thing unfortunately. Great images though!

    Great review! I have 11 Eurographics puzzles - 8 are random cut (on the box it's referred to as Smart Cut Technology) and 3 are ribbon cut with all of the usual piece shapes.
    I agree that this brand is crumbly but I do like the images so will buy more.
    I would recommend you try some random cut puzzles from this brand - my favourite so far is Asian Umbrellas from the Colours of the World Series...such vivid colours!
    It's a real shame that you do not get the same puzzle cuts from this brand in the States as we do in the U.K.

    Very nice comparison video. I especially love the image on the 300 piece and the Notre Dame image. I have two Eurographics Christmas puzzles that I bought used but haven't done them yet. I was really curious as to the cut so I had to look of course. They are both in the smaller boxes and both have a variety of piece shapes, not the 2/2. Both images are lovely. I definitely would enjoy more videos like this. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Emilee, great video on one of our favourite puzzle brands, Eurographics. The only drawback on the 1000 piece puzzles are the crumbly nature of them. We have the seed catalogue and rose catalogue 1000 piece puzzles. Enjoyed your comprehensive breakdown of this manufacturer. Happy puzzling from Australia. M+C🇦🇺🇦🇺

    I have only done 1 Eurographics puzzle which was Christmas Donut Party - 1000 pc and it had random cut and rectangular large box and I loved it! Thank you for the review and I would like to see more of these type videos, very interesting! Happy New Year to you and your family! 🙂

    Now that you mention abt the 1000pc and the box size, I totally see that!!! I was given a 1000pc Eurographics puzzle of Cinque Terre and I ended up giving it away. It made me nuts!!!! They were all twos and I couldnt find the tree pieces without trying every single piece!!!! However I just did a world map by them and it came in a small box. Standard variety of shapes and I was able to complete it I also have a Flower Girl sitting outside of her VW van by the ocean. Small box and the standard variety. That gives me home for the older puzzles I might find at a swap or store.

    What I especially love about Eurographics are their tin boxed puzzles!! So cute! Yes, their puzzles are so crumbly, but their images are AMAZING, so you can forgive the crumbliness.

    My preference at the moment is 100 piece puzzles with standard piece sizes and they essentially don't exist. I don't have much space at the moment so it's something I can get out and put away in one enjoyable ~15 minute session. I did my first puzzle advent calendar and instead of connecting all the days into one big puzzle as intended, I put away each day after I completed it.

      You should try New York Puzzle Company. They have a bunch of 100 piece puzzles and they are standard sizes.

    Hi Emilee. Happy New Year!
    Eurographics puzzles sold here are either made in the USA or China. The 1000 pieces made in the USA are only 2s. Those made in China are standard shapes. I believe that they offer random cuts in Europe as well. At least, that's what I have deduced from the dozen or so puzzles I have from them. It would be nice if you could confirm that this is correct with your contact at Eurographics.

    I love Eurographics Puzzles. All of your compliments and critiques seem to be right on for what I found. I absolutely love their images, but you do not know what you will get in the 1000 pieces. Never had an issue with smaller than that puzzles (300 & 500 piece counts). I have not done a 100 but want to. I say, if you have not done a Eurographics puzzles, try one.

    I’ve done a few 1000 piece Eurographics puzzles and they’ve been in the bigger boxes and they’ve been what they call Smart Cut, which are wonky shapes. I’m wondering if it’s different markets as I’m in the U.K., or maybe they don’t do that style with newer puzzles which would be a shame.
    Anyway what a lovely selection of puzzles they sent you.

    Great video! Thanks for sharing! We both like the same in that we gravitate towards nice skies and sunsets in puzzles.
    For the piece shapes, I learned to like two piece counts as there is just a different perspective I have to take with them. The two shapes are normally long and short, which make a pattern of short, long, short, long. So if I did a long piece then the next piece will be a short piece and repeat. Puzzles of two shapes are the only kinds where I actually like to do a puzzle by shape because the pattern of long short long can be fun. I don't normally have the patience for piece sorting, but I do take the time for a two shape puzzle. The piece organizing is different, as I lay my pieces out in two main grids, all of the short pieces in one group and all of the long pieces in another group, then fine-tune the two groups by color.

    • @thecasualpuzzler
      @thecasualpuzzler  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you for this insight. There really isn't a difference in these pieces as far as length, as far as I can tell. These all tend to look the same.

    • @ccgirl5055
      @ccgirl5055 6 месяцев назад

      @thecasualpuzzler Sounds like a 1 piece shape type of puzzle cut then. A 2 piece shape cut will often have a pattern, but I don't think there's anything special that can be done with 1 piece shape, lol. 😅

  • @matnpuzzles
    @matnpuzzles 7 месяцев назад +2

    I don't think the cut is related to box size. The last two 1000s I've done from them, both in large boxes including one bought after Christmas, had the 6-shapes grid cut similar to your 300 and 500. I was wondering if maybe that was their standard now (of course over the years we've seen sooo many different cuts and pieces from them from 2x2 to random). But that they sent you an all 2x2s would seem to indicate they still have no standard, which is by far the #1 thing that keeps me from buying them (new at least). That said, I still really want that first 500 you did! What a perfect scene - so, so gorgeous!

      Interesting, it’s also good to point out all of mine were new images… so not sure what the story is. They really should indicate what is what, or show the final image in the pictures.

    Eurographics 1000 piece puzzles have a variety of pieces cuts. If it says Smartcut on the box, it’s random cut. I can think of maybe 4 different cuts or piece shape styles in the 1000 pieces. I have taken to only buying them at thrift stores where I can look in the box to see what type of pieces that they have.

    • @thecasualpuzzler
      @thecasualpuzzler  7 месяцев назад

      Good to know! On the website you only see the front of the box and there is no indication of piece cut anywhere. Makes it hard to tell.

    Do a 1,000 piece eurographics jigsaw puzzle. There’s a variety of shapes for each puzzle 🧩. The one is about women and harmony. That jigsaw puzzle is titled: harmony. Do you have the skeletal jigsaw puzzle by eurographics? I might give that to my brother in-law. His name is Lee Hustus. He loves jigsaw puzzles 🧩😍. My sister Nicole loves them too since I am her little brother lol. She called me little Brian. The name lives on😇. Anyways, some of the eurographics brands have simple shapes for the inside (one shape). Others are a variety of shapes. I buy my puzzles (the brand you are showing). Have fun with your eurographics jigsaw puzzles!

    I know Eurographics has some 1000 piece puzzles in a tin instead of a box that have random cut pieces. I’m not sure why they wouldn’t just do all their 1000 piece puzzles that way. If they did and they also had the smaller square box, I would definitely buy lots from them. I will try the 500 piece though, now that I’ve watched your video. Thanks 😊

    I've only done two Eurographics puzzles, both 1000 pieces and both in the rectangle size box.
    Totem Poles was just like the one you showed with only the standard two in two out piece shape.
    The other was W. Kandinsky For and Against (fine art abstract image that's mostly red). This puzzle was random cut - all kinds of crazy piece shapes - and it was one of the most crumbly puzzles I've ever done. The slighest touch would beak it apart.
    I have two others in my todo pile but I haven't opened either of them so I don't know what the pieces are like. I didn't really like the pieces in either of the ones I did so I'm avoiding these two. I wish they would indicate on the box what the piece shapes are.
    Good job on comparing the piece counts in this video.

    I did one of the Eurographics panoramas last year and that was super crumbly too. However it had all the different piece shapes, and no false fits, which was a massive relief because it was a solar system image so lots of dark colours.

    I see some of their 1000 piece puzzles (even in the large boxes) with a varied piece shape, but others have only that 2-in 2-out piece shape like the one you showed. If I could know which puzzle cut I was getting in the box I'd be more inclined to buy their puzzles, but as it is I won't buy them because I don't want that boring cookie-cutter piece shape to my puzzles. (In europe their puzzles are random cut. If they sold that here I'd be a customer.)

    • @thecasualpuzzler
      @thecasualpuzzler  7 месяцев назад

      It is hard to tell which are which on their website would be varied piece shapes. It looks like they just use a cookie cutter outline with the same piece cut for each image, so ever one looks as if it is twos. I would be more inclined too if they shared what the piece style was on their site so it was easier to shop. Let's get the Europe puzzles!
