Whenever i hear "Minnesota", all i can think of is the "This is my face after being outside in Minnesota" guy...

I think the new USN BB have the role as the central map Battleship, like Flamus sometimes play his BBs. You have to be sure where you are going at beginning of the match so be in the centre is probably the best solution. This way you are save to participate in most of the battle. You have the range to reach everywhere so why not (I don't say you have to be close to the middle of the map tho).
But I could also be wrong with my way of thinking.

Yes, yes, and yes again, I tell people all the time the slow US BB's must stay more or less in the middle of the map. If they go to a flank one of two things happen, the flank their on wins on their flank but then the slow BB is out of position and useless for the rest of the game., or two the flank their on loses and their too slow to retreat and they get focused down.

The speed and reload would annoy the crap out of me (Again, cruiser player), but that dispersion, even at 27km looks LOVELY. BB-Sniper players will probably love these ships.
All these ships just look like someone looked at colorado in the wide putin filter and said that works
they turn to slow. why dont they let it beyblade like a colorado and reload like a colorado.

Players: Why did WG give this ship such a slow speed and slow reload?
WG: Don't you guys have work? Just auto cruise and shot a salvo then go to your work, finish your meetings, do some team buildings and after that go back to the game to shot your second salvo then adjust your navigation a bit. Rinse and repeat.
"Every damn thing pens this ship" after two Thunderer salvos doing 0 damage and 1 fire, because the entire side is torpedo protection...

It’s chonky, it eats pens from weird angles. Once people realize to not shoot it in the torp bulges, it’ll get chunked for ~9K from most BBs.

The 40 s reload time is not a problem. She has 12 guns. I mean ... firing 6 of them every 20 seconds is like firing a georgia with a sharnhosrt rate of fire (or a sharnhorst with 18 inches guns) ... I don't understand that obsession with many player to fire all the guns at once every single time.

If it’s as wide as it looked, it should have tons of secondaries and AA. It probably won’t, but it should.

Yes, this should have 3 rows of dual 127/38's on each side.
It does though? That's kinda the whole gimmick..? Literally has good base AA and Defensive AA fire. And the wide sides are the extremely big torpedo protection which, if you shoto into that, does no damage at all (she also has good torpedo protection).

@@TheGuyfromValhalla They have secondaries. They just dont have good positions so they cant shoot. They focused more on AA.
Basically this alternate BB lines are for those that are hungry and wants to eat their favourite fast food while still gaming. you shoot one shell- take bites off your fast food for 20s and take 10s roughly for aim

I would like to see this line be able to hold speed while maneuvering. A turn radius of 700m before the mod is on par with DDs and cruisers. With some torp spotting skills this could frustrate medium to long distance fire more than a little. I also think this line creates a sort of anti sniping meta. These ships are slow but they have reach and good dispersion. As they crawl forward the red snipers will have nowhere to go but to irrelevancy. I would not waste early volleys on a DD with this line. Volley is just too valuable. Getting focused early in this line is a good thing as it will give your teammates a more clear path towards the objective. Good concealment, slow reload and slow speed means you will be able to go silent when it is time to heal. Just an opinion at this point.
"You rarely leave the spawn" sounds to me like you tried but found out you could not get very far (23 knots) and it aint worth the effort anyway (reload is crap so no brawling).
Look at that draft. SHE'S SO DEEP. There's just as much battleship UNDER the water as above.
Also, that dispersion, holy shit. It's actually terrifying, your vertical dispersion looks TINY. Like a montana.
I played my first game against a MN last night... The guy just stayed in the back and sniped and easily went down as we moved closer. He did ok damage, but never moved out of a center position at the back of the map.
WG does know that April fool's is in April right?

WG should have created a Washington, New Jersey and Maine for T8-10 respectively, for the new BB line split, with Massachusetts', Georgia's and Ohio's secondaries respectively! Instead, we get these floating turds! 🤬 Needless to say, I am more than a little disappointed! 🇺🇸
Played against a Minnesota yesterday in my Bourgogne. It did manage to bounce my first AP rounds but man it burned to death quite nicely as it just couldn't get out of it's own way. With that reload against a ship with speed boost dodging its return fire I bet that captain enjoyed the engagement.
Considering that even in my Colorado/California in tier 9 games I still find myself ahead of most of my team I feel like its speed shouldn’t be too much of a issue.
The problem I see is said speed And the 40 second reload with the same guns as Montana only they do less dmg.
I think a 35 second reload would work better for the Minnesota.
The problem I'm finding with the ship, is not that she is incapable of running from enemy ships. Rather that she is incapable of chasing them down
she is pretty bad at kiting cuase she so super wide you will get nice hits on her rear super structure and deck, i kited another minnesota and there was no angle i could make that i dident take several thousends of damage, also front angle is wierd on it cuase so super wide in the front that you need to almost bow tank to get a bounch angle in

Too many weaknesses on these new paper ships when compared to the rest of the BB meta - pass

I love brawling BBs and actually kinda enjoy Minnesota even though she's a sniper I have started to make her work even in so me brawls. Can't wait to unlock Vermont

About the aa.
According to some reddit posts, there was a HUGE CV stealth nerf in this patch, so it doesn't have to be the Minnesota's great aa.
How does CV visibility affect other ship AA?
Teemu K it’s not visibility. Now returning CV planes eat full damage. So if you’re not careful you’re going to get deplaned quickly.

They nerfed multiple things;
Most important is that attack planes that peel of from squadron take now full dmg from surrounding aa, resulting often in loss of the whole squadron.

I really like the West Virginia or Colorado play style. I was really afraid about the guns performance, but 40 second is not a tragedy when you can hit. Thank you for the review and awaiting Florida now.

These ships aren't even finalized and they're already completely powercrept. I really don't understand the logic of having the same guns on the MT and IO but reloading them at 40 secs. There's literally no reason for it.
They need to give it the same reload as the Montana, 25 kt top speed (minimum) and an engine boost. Only then, will these ships be playable.

i was looking forward to the US ships but after the nerfs/stats, i dont see any reason for them, but never the less, i got Minnesota on first chest -.-

11:39 Tbh, every BB with something like a superstructure can get those AP hits from Cruisers.
24 knots doesn't mean you CAN'T move, it means you NEED to move FROM THE START. Anyone who played through Colobado and wasn't an utter potato ought to have learned the relevant lessons back then.
Push towards the middle of map. Use islands to limit potential threats. With the decent range, you can fire just about ANYWHERE.
Plus you're potentially using your health and heals, which is PART OF YOUR JOB as a BB.
Trouble is WG gave this line a REDUCED heal compared with existing USN BB line (god knows why), which is bollocks. Plus the guns function more like Colobado when it comes to pen/drag etc, which is total bollocks.
Why people want to grind out a tier 8 and 9 Colobado with more guns so as to get a tier 10 version escapes me, however.
Meanwhile, anyone who sails back and forth near their spawn with these crap sigma guns and dreadful velocity and air drag making long range fire pretty much garbage ought not play BBs. Even if they have decent guns that's potato level shit.
If you want to sit back plinking away, play CAs.
issue with the guns is that theyre colorado guns, so its T7 pen which cant citadel any of the T9/T10 BBs
tbh Minnesota is prolly Vermont's width, its just the fat torpedo belt, I mean you can see the lines on the deck
I think the question is: Is there any reason to play this instead of the other tech tree BB, the Iowa? Tbh I don´t think so...
About the speed or lack of, WG could have added a Engine Boost.
Looking at Minnesota’s armour layout, at closer ranges I don’t think you can angle due to having massive cheeks of 38 mm armour
Vermont’s layout does not immediately tell me if will have the same problem
Yeah i play Minnesota and i have a hard time finding a good angle al the time in it just cuase the cheeks becomes like a broadside if you angle
The Kansas and Vermont looks to be better, Minnesota have a turning wall in the front

So Monty's alpha on Iowa's dpm isn't enough? On one of the best protected hulls in the game (potentially better than Vermont at that)?
I don't like this split in the slightest but the argument for reload and increasing dpm is not the hill I'd die on personally.

You can't angle the Minnesota because it approximates a circle. You can't angle a circle. It'll always have a flat side towards you.

Hi, would you recomand to Montana line or the Yamato line, actualy i wanted the yamato but last days i get optimus prime and megatron as captains, i give up on germans cose am bad brawler, but thinking to start to unlocking USA line to get montana cose working on autobot event...
Montana and Iowa have 406/50 Minnesota has 406/45. I do like the dispersion of the Minny and the rudder shift, but man that thing is slow and the armor is a bit too thin.

What makes the 23 knot top speed even more stupid is the ship design lineage these ships are supposed to represent (1922 South Dakota and on) was supposed to have a 25 knot top speed. When designing the 1922 South Dakota class the US had realized after operating with the RN during WWI that their 21 knot standards were a liability as everyone else's BBs were faster.
There gonna release a premium tier 8 9 10 with a focus on 2nd batteries.

Well, Sean doesn't know WOWS very well. Massa tier 8, Georgia tier 9, Ohio tier 10. All 3 are exactly what you described and into the game already.
@@dzello I have the mass, mass b and the Georgia. I'm working on the Ohio now. What else could they do with these ships. They already have the torpedo protection. Just had the super heal and extended the 2nd.
@@dolan660 What...? Those ships dont have good secondaries. Even with longer secondary range, theyd be awful (if I recall, they had like 2 turrets that can shoot forward lmao on the Mineso).
They have big guns, good AA and good torpedo protection (which doubles as armor because shooting torpedo protection deals no damage).
The current premium line is the secondary line already.

Odd, the Wargaming Wiki lists the Minnesota as having 13,500 AP damage, indicating the Mark 8 Superheavy shells.

It's a New Mexico that will get uptiered to T10 every battle. Slow and long reload equals not fun. High speed/short reload equals fun.

40 Seconds is still 3x16 Inch Shells every 10 seconds, theoretically the same as other BBs at tier9... But yeah in practice she needs a buff to 35-36 something like that

1) Halsey has the super expert loader right? That might be good in these ships :)
2) German 150mm secondaries have exactly 38mm penetration. Will that work on the american chungus ships or would you need 39mm pen?
Thing is, if you just get same dpm as an Iowa, why would you want the 23 knot ship over the 33 knot one?

Conqueror and Thunderer = Less Detection than Hindenburg... makes sense, and if Pommern gets 12 15inch guns that cant land 3 shells at 13km (with 33 sec reload) anything less than 40 second Reload for 12 16inch guns that can land 50% of shells at 23km (and gets to overmatch 27mm) would be unacceptable.

3 weeks later, after notser's had some time with it. "Yeah, rudder shift plus accuracy. play it like a mid-ranged support CA/BC" proceeds to get 100k+ dmg in it almost every match. LOL

YES! I mean its kinda retarded that NC, Iowa AND the Montana (same FUCKING FIREPOWER) all have 30 sec reloads, and these things get 40 secs.

Do you want 12 of those 457mm guns (kansas) to smash you. Its (kansas) basically a yamato/kremlin with another triple gun. Even kremlin gets 30 ish seconds reload.
If you say that the lower tier ones needs lower reload then that makes a bit more sense but kansas needs to be balanced with 40 ish reload

@@juicemeister1984 you would be correct. I can understand 12 457s having 40 sec reloads (kremlin has.....wtf how does kremlin get away with 33 sec RELOAD AND 30sec turret turn speed! RUSSIAN BIAS!) but while I understand the math, it really should be 35 seconds for that one extra turret.
Anyone know the real story about USS Minnesota? I can’t find any info about it but I’m guessing it’s semi-fictional?
Based off of the Tillmans (slightly)
It’s a modernized post-Pearl Harbor 1920 South Dakota-class, so this ship is actually not imaginary at all, being one of the almost-real paper ships. Kansas (T8) is the pre-modernization version. Vermont (T10) is the Tillman-derives variant.
honestly, I've been having loads of fun in these ships, sure they handle about as well as an elephant in a slip 'n slide but once you get those guns trained on something it all becomes worth it
