Used to live in Northern IN myself before moving to Northeast Ohio about 5 years ago, and this summer I’ll be moving once again down to Southwest Ohio near the Dayton-Cincinnati Metro from up North where I currently live in the Cleveland-Akron metro. I’ll be attending college in Dayton in the fall as well, and luckily near my university are a ton of sirens!
Tornadoes form on the south west back end of a supercell thunderstorm most of the time. So that can be pretty common to see a sunny part of the sky as your seeing only the back end of the storm.
I want to explain something to people who take this as a Joke, This is not FAKE and not to mess around with. This stuff is real and it happens alot. There are many people that DIED around this world cause of these storms!. You should at least be thankful to survive and live another day.If you see these warning on your Phones,Tv, Or where ever else. Don't be scared. Have faith!. Follow instructions until further notice. Please be careful during these storms!. God Bless You All. Stay Safe!.

It’s a little concerning how one of the radios doesn’t sound off until halfway through the 1050 Hz tone. Those couple of seconds are valuable. You should check that out.

It has to decode all 3 headers before sending the alert, and it has to check if all 3 headers match. If they don't it uses the 2 headers that do match and disregards the odd header. If all 3 don;t match, it goes off for an unrecognized W/A/S's. It takes time for a computer, especially one with a chip so small, to process all of that.
I remember last year when was in a town it was clear sky and right when a EAS alert sound started the fire depts sirens started blowing and it scared me to death. Because at the time I didn't realize it was a test also that it was noon and so that timing for me was horrific I thought some disease outbreak had accured or that some attack on the U.S was accruing.
I remember May 2019 when in my area, the WHOLE DAY it was sunny and nice, then as I was getting ready to go to bed a TOA was issued. That night was a fricking tornado outbreak :/

I originally got the WR-120EZ because I was going to have a job that involved being on the road a lot locally, never took it, though. So the WR-120EZ is now serving beside the WR-120. Also, if we get some severe weather, if I wanted to, I could put one of them in another room where someone could be sleeping so that when I get woken up, they get woken up too.

No, the NWS sends out a tornado warning advisory to the residents and to the county dispatch center, the county then decides whether to hit the button or not.
Trust me, if that storm was coming toward my town I would have been doing that. Fortunately for me and my town, when the warning was issued that storm had already passed us and it was headed toward Valparaiso and KVPZ as stated in the warning. Looking at the storm outside, I’m looking at the tail of the storm, the reason why the sirens are going off is to alert the people that may still potentially be affected by that storm, and the only sirens they’re able to hear are the ones from my town. A lot of my neighbors were confused on why the sirens were going off when that storm had already passed. Several of them were even outside looking at the storm knowing it had already passed.
I remember a few years ago when we delt with a stronger storm down in Normal that knocked out all power in the town and coming out of the shelter to no clouds in the sky and then seeing the storm that just passed.

I’m glad I live in Florida we don’t have sirens wish we did for safety I’m in middleburg Florida in clay county witch is still considered a part of Jacksonville in the mid 2000s I’m not sure if I was still in school then but Jacksonville had an ef3 tornado hit the west side of Jacksonville my mom was coming home from work and was going over the bridge and she saw it she said it was scary and when I was still in school in green cove springs we had a tornado come less than 100 ft from my school room my principal at that time didn’t have us evacuate stupidly he said we were fine bullcrap that tornado was just across the street we were lucky it didn’t hit us the principal we had at that time was an idiot he didn’t know where that tornado was going to go he’s very lucky it didn’t hit or he’d have been in big trouble if anybody got hurt or worse die it was scary for the damage it did I think that tornado was an ef2 that would have been bad if that tornado would have hit a portable we got lucky that’s why it’s important for principals of schools to do their jobs and evacuate students to safety tornadoes are no joke
Main siren you hear the loudest is a Sentry of some kind. Maybe a 15v2T or 20v2T Not sure about the other, hard to make out over the louder sentry. Sounds like a Federal 2001.

You were lucky that the town was saved. Had that storm maintained its strength to drop a tornado, that would've likely hit EF4 or possibly an EF5

They're on the same station (WNG689), the difference is the 120 has SAME enabled, the 120EZ has SAME disabled which is why it goes off to any alert.
