The 2 pc top for the tracker/sidekick was an excellent buy! Lasted for years and looked great. Was easy to remove for nice days and didn't leak. Definitely reccomend these tops.
Heyo, that little spot where "They took a grinder to your car" was not them grinding anything. that is just where the original soft top folded over the edge of the targa. Over decades, dust and grit between the top and the targa have worn through the paint. You never saw it because the top covered that spot. Every samurai I have ever owned (5 now) shows that same wear spot on the paint unless recently repainted.
thank you for pointing that out, I was running off assumptions, and it looked fresh at the time. Like you said, probably never paid much attention to it 👍🏼
Excellent video like always..mine is a stock 1.3 and so far no problems. Yeah I have to take the far lane on the freeway but off road/trails the 1.3 works great.
Valid! Although, I did go with the one-piece over two piece for a few reasons... A friend of mine has the 2 piece and mentioned he has dealt with some leaks in the areas where it meets the targa bar. I figured with the one-piece top, as long as the roof rack was sealed properly, I at least would have no chance of water on my head. I hope to do a review of one of those as well with that friend of mine, Give and take on both items!
Hey mate, I have a similar top but made out of fibreglass. I’m surprised they used sealant when they could’ve used weather stripping to help with moisture and instead of cutting into the body to fit it in why couldn’t they have made the rally top to fit flush or even modify it. Also a tip if you end up getting water or dirt coming in from the front of the rally top put some thick weather stripping on all 3 sides (windshield, passenger, drivers side) this helped me a lot as before doing that I would have bugs coming into the cabin when driving over 100km/h.
Hey Lachy! Good idea with the weatherstripping! It seems solid right now, but I will definitely go to that method probably once I remove the top and put it back on for the first time.
It’s a pity that the rear side windows don’t match the size (height) of the front windows. That’s one of the reasons why the soft tops look good and balanced, the side windows (which are plastic) are lined up height wise, top and bottom, with the front windows and are large, extending far back. These look too small.
That is a super valid point! I would agree whole heartedly. I was on the fence between this and another top, but the other had massive windows so I decided I'd rather have them be smaller and less vulnerable than if they were super large
Hi Stan, I found them online sometime back, I believe they were "Recaro LX" or something similar shipped over from Japan. I'll have a video on them at some point
Hi Dennis! You can checkout their options here: www.rallytops.com/products/hardtops/suzuki/ if you have any questions they are helpful on the phone, I can likely provide some insight on here as well thru my experiences
For ~$2000 I am thoroughly disappointed at least with the install. The damage from I assume is modifying the top and the gaps in the windows are unacceptable on a product of this caliber. I will stick with making my $400 used hard top nicer. The price of that top is almost what I paid for my samurai a few years ago.
I try to share my un-biased opinion and let the individual decide whether or not its right for them. If I had a used top available I probably would do the same as you. If it makes you feel any better, it definitely cost more than what I got my Samurai for back in the day 🤠
AWESOME video! That small crack in the top, the grinding, and the sealant is an absolute nogo for me, especially for the price

awsome!
The part where they said they grinded it down for fitment. I have the same spot I'm assuming it's from the soft-top rubbing.
That is the general consensus from that I have heard, thank you

Wow definitely getting the 2 piece sport top after seeing this. Didn't know the glass just hung there wtf. Good point about the windows too.

@@samuraiszn will do. That and aaz swap reviewing coming up by summer.
Could you do a video about the engine swap, what it took, and what should be considered before undertaking that project? Great content, keep it up!
Great idea! Yes, I will have that coming up soon 🙌🏻

What do you think? Is there anything that you would add based off of your experiences?

Do you have to remove the soft top retaining strip above the windshield to put this top on?
hey Jeremy, yes. Pretty much anything that is related to the original soft top gets removed
Hey dude, what are those reacaro seats?
