Will heavy infantry in the game stand in close ranks? I just loved the way the hoplites stood shoulder to shoulder, shield by shield, and faced the eternity in the first game. In the second game, the soldiers were a lot more spread out and didn´t look quite as stylish.
***** I hardly doubt that Roman legionaries were less cohesive than Greek hoplites. No, my guess is that the designers intentionally wanted to make soldiers behave more individualistic, and that means they look ugly as a result.
Very nice to see that the game is good on its way, i was afraid that the failure of the kickstarter campaign would meant an end to such a wonderful series... :)
Do the romans use imperial armor and shields? In which period is this game set, by the time romans used imperial armor, (well after year 1) there was no gallic tribes in northern italy, and no etruscans, nor greek in Italy. Greece had been conquered 200ish years earlier and the hoplite was gone forever.
Gunfreak19 The game starts in the early Roman kingdom roughly around 600BC and starts with the adoption of hoplite arms and tactics by the native Italic factions. We have taken a few more liberties with the units in Hegemony III than we have in our previous games because of the wider time frame and the need to extrapolate how factions like the Etruscans might have evolved if they conquered all of Italy instead of the Romans.
We're taking it as far as the manipular legions (hastati, principes, etc) that were formed around the samnite wars but not as far as the Marian legions we had in Hegemony Rome. We're not including the Punic Wars in this release but obviously it is something we'd like to do if we get the chance. The Greek factions will evolve more along the lines of Alexander/Philip's reforms if they survive that long including variations of the macedonian phalanx.
The various greek factions control the coastline areas in the southern part of italy known as Magna Graecia to the romans ... factions such as the spartan colony Taras (Tarentum) were a major rival to Rome in the early republic (more on wikipedia if you're interested: en.wikipedia.org/?title=Magna_Graecia)
We don't have any of the tribes from Briton in this game, only those that crossed the alps into italy - although we'd be excited to see the community put together a full Briton map using the editor
LongbowOfficial Wow I thought the editor only allowed you to edit the map of Italy. We can build our own campaigns from scratch. Now that is great news. I expect to see some campaigns of Italy and Greece now. Will we be able to edit the current map and fill in the regions in north africa and Illyria with cities?
Nice but please dont be like other companies that sells things that should probably in the game era as dlc please dont do that if possible please just give us a worthy dlc with good content like expanded map features or new campaigns something like that
Sevenfold120 yes i know but they did a unit dlc its normal to have those but not like CA stripping units or factions in the game that are actually in the game era to make a profit
Christian M Hegemony III has the biggest map and unit roster that we've ever done ... and, while there are definitely areas we'd liked to expand in the future if we get the chance, we're going all out just to complete the four main cultures and we definitely won't be holding anything back at launch.
LongbowOfficial great im looking forward to you guys i trust my money to you are you going to be on early access soon? Or will you guys release a full game? Also one suggestion can you guys if possible get another music just for Hegemony 3?? that be awesome
Christian M We're going straight to full release this time, although there will be a closed beta that we will be talking about more in the next few weeks. We really love the work Dana has done on the soundtracks for the last two games but commissioning new music was part of the Kickstarter we tried and without that we really don't have the resources to do it at this point. Perhaps if things go well we can do a special edition down the road, but for now we need to focus all our efforts on the gameplay content.
I have all the hegemony games. Cant wait for this one
Looking good!
Looking Really Awesome! Definitely Looks Like Its Going To Be A Great Title In The Franchise! :) Cannot Wait!
Ahhhhhh! The world creator will be so amazing!

I am a real fan of the original Hegemony, so im curious, could you fix the lag spikes and the fps drops in the march version of the game/hegemony 2 ?

LongbowOfficial will there be the possibility of mid republican romans (punic war era) or Greeks with macedonian styke sarrisa?

Nice Stuff
is the map on this game limited to mediteranean only?
sorry if i said something wrong, english isn't my main language tho
Nickolas August The included sandbox focuses on the early days of the Roman republic so it sticks to mainland italy
LongbowOfficial so where will the greeks start?

will the celts be in this
CommanderCats The Gauls/Celts are one of the four main cultural groups in the game and include such factions as the Insubres, Cenomani and Senones.
iceni or picts?

CommanderCats The Iceni are from modern day England and the Picts are from Scotland. Obviously, they will not be in Transalpine/Cisalpine Gaul.
