Love seeing your trip through Milton Keynes. I live there many years ago when I was a social worker for Buckinghamshire County social services, which was before Milton Keynes became its own area. It’s such an interesting place because it’s a combination of the new in The Old I lived across from Linford Park on the Stantonbury Estate. I always loved walking along the canals, although it’s much more built up now than when I lived there enjoy your journey greetings from Pennsylvania.
Hi there Dierdre. Thanks so much for watching and how fab that you used to live there, stantonbury Park is beautiful as is Linford. We actually loved Milton Keynes. Found it fascinating how different it was from the roadside compared to the canalside. 🙂
great Vvlogs guys......... when I worked in the UK, I had to do some deliveries up in Milton Keynes........ and yes I remember all those blooody Roundabout... 2 many lol
Great job guys, I must say I've never seen Milton Keynes look so good, it's an absolute pain to drive around, especially in a truck, always look forward to a boat tour as I question myself as to what to have in mine ( when I get one ) I never thought that a toilet could be such a great dilemma 😂😂 once again, great job, many thanks for sharing ❤
Hi there Nigel, Milton Keynes is beautiful via the canal. Its hard when deciding what would work for you on a boat, my advice with that one would be to spend time on her before deciding as I was adamant that I didn't want a dinette and since actually living aboard I have thought many of times that a dinette would have been quite useful 😅
Don't know what happened, I always thought a narrow boat was a narrow boat, never been on one ,and I still want to live on one, I think it's the sense of freedom and getting to see this wonderful country we have, thank you for sharing your life and your travels. 👍👍💕☕️☕️
@nigelgregory7308 exactly that. Paul had never been on a narrowboat either. The day we put a deposit on this boat was the first day he had stepped foot on narrowboats and I'd only been on a similar boat on the Norfolk broads as a kid, but like you say once you know you want to live a certain lifestyle you just accommodate accomplishing that. 😀
Rick-eeeee!….…. 😂😂😂😂😂Paul did great with his explanation… that just got funnier and funnier ….you two always make me laugh…another brilliant vlog both … The boat is looking stunning … it’s a real head turner … you both look as if you are enjoying your new life … well done… keep the vlogs coming we all love what you are doing . Thank you taking us along with you . 🏴🏴
On the winding hole I thought in the Nicholson guides if there no number it’s ok for a 70ft boat but if it’s smaller it give you the maximum size, keep enjoying it and hope to see you passing us one day
Hi Mark, yes it says that unless a number is written in nook then all ok for up to a 70ft but we have found a few that are no where near big enough for a us, so maybe the weeds have taken over to the point of narrowing the winding hole but we wondered if there was a more up to date way of knowing. 😀
@@uponreflection we’re only in a 60ft boat and we’ve found the same either to many weeds and reeds or to much silt, the measure distance tool on google maps satellite image gives you a good idea of size
*Morena Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂 Wow I am loving the tour of the UK countryside... some massive homes too. So have you two been surprised at what you are discovering along the way... like did you know about all them parks & artworks? Paul explaining the roundabout was so funny... he has such wicked sense of humour. Liz give Paul the duster to dust off the dust off the side of the barge... Gotta keep her spick-n-span after all your hard work of painting her. 🙂 Liz, I had a thought, keep the whole tiller in its natural form of metal... to keep it nice an shiney... with just a motorbike handgrip where you hold it. So it means stripping off that green that is still seen and make it shiney 🙂. Looking forward to the full tour next week. 🙂.nz*
Hi there Andrea, some places we have heard certain things about before we go but mainly we are learning and discovering new things as we get to them. The exciting part of it is not knowing what's around the next corner as such. Paul wasn't far wrong with his roundabout talk, they do love a roundabout in milton keynes. We've had a bit of rain now so all dust has been removed from boat without Paul grabbing the duster out 🤣🤣 great idea with the tiller. Although a day too late as I painted that yesterday which you will see in a few vlogs time. 😉 hope you are well and keeping as busy as always 🙂
@@uponreflection Oh dang about the tiller... well it is still fresh paint, so will be easy to take it off... 🙂 Yep still busy.... spent the last few days gaining more info for the brain to process on getting stuff for the bathroom, Toilet & laundry rooms. I was given some time ago a brand new corner sink (never been fitted before) for the bathroom which is minus the taps and waste plug hole etc... I had measured and traced the holes... turns out that I can reuse my bathroom sink taps in the new sink and just buy the new plughole thingee. Also priced up new cistern etc.. as I have also been given a brand new toilet (never been fitted) and also the price of a new laundry tub. Only one tub will fit due to the depth of the tub from the front to the back to the wall. Funny thing is it brand name is 'Robin-Hood'... So next up is getting hold of a car to borrow to go and pick the cistern & laundry tub up... as delivery costs is not cheap. Then store them in the storage room formally known as the spare room hehehe. The big decision is deciding which one of the many showers to get 1200 x 800.*
@@uponreflection *Liz it is called 'future proofing' so that, in time I can put a stool in the shower to sit on... hence why the old bath is being chucked out. 1200 is only 4ft long... But yep you have completely downsized everything into a smaller space... and your shower is probably 900x900? 🙂.*
Wednesday come round quick don't they Diana 😀 Ernie, Is the dog that will walk around a puddle instead of through it 🤣 yes, we've literally just done tiller. You will see that being done in a couple of weeks time 🤪
Thanks so much Geoff. We are a bit gutted that we seemed to have rushed milton keynes due to the painting of the boat so hopefully we will revisit again in the future and take more time seeing the incredible sights it offers 😀
We have been heading for the oxford canal so hopefully you will see that in the next few weeks. You still enjoying life on the water? I seem to remember you getting your boat around the same time we got ours didn't you?😀
We have a whole vlog dedicated to the inside next week and for sure we will continue to do inside bits too as the seasons change and the decor updates 🤪
Water Vicky here! It's great to see how your journey is progressing. Love your designs. When I met you at Crick I told you we were planning our next step. Well, we've just sold our house and it looks like we'll be spending Christmas on our narrowboat in the marina where we know loads of people, with a very small, but beautifull decorated 🌳 😢 continuous cruising next year! Very exciting! So we're really interested in your journey at this time! Eric sends Ernie great hugs x
Hi Andy. Thank you so much for sitting through all our vlogs..you'll never get that time back 🤣 welcome to our journey, glad to have you along with us 😊
Hi Susan, I think we've adjusted really well so far to life on the cut, the most surprising thing is how time flies. We cruise for a while and it feels like 10minutes and its actually been a couple of hours. Also I assumed that we would cruise and then stay for a week or 2 in a mooring but we find that we get itchy feet and move again after a couple of nights. Also the beauty of nature from the canals will never stop surprising me. We love it 😀
Pulled up to chat to a mate on his boat and he was laughing at your vlog because you had said there was 270 bridges in Milton Keynes I thought he must have misheard so I moored up got out my tablet and checked but what you had actual done was wrote was there are 417 bridges now I can't stop laughing from Solomons bridge no65 north of Cosgrove to Water Eaton bridge no99 south of Milton Keynes I make that 34 bridges.I get the impression you dislike roundabouts but you either get roundabouts or traffic lights which are worse? 😂😂
My home town used to live by the canal ,now I watch blogs , so enjoyed tonight ,
Hi Lorraine and what a lovely hometown you had. Glad you enjoyed 😀
I was a submariner!!!! 1980 to 2002! 🏴☠ Great video ☺
Wow I bet you and Paul's dad could talk for hours about your submariner days. Thanks for watching Richard 😀
Love your videos. I think I will have to add the canals to my bucket list. It’s so beautiful there. Thanks 🇨🇦
Thank you, so glad you enjoy our videos. Definitely come to the UK and experience them, it's such a lovely way to see the UK 😊
Good night Ernie and liz and Paul I hop that all are enjoying your narrow boat trips are you all well
Hi there. Yes thank you we are loving this way of life so far 😀
I’m glad you enjoyed Milton Keynes. It’s been my home for the past couple of years and I love it too!
We loved it Lorna, so much green space and pretty parks. 😍
Cant wait to see ernie at the helm !❤❤
🤣🤣
Paul, 9.5 out of 10 for the winding turn. Liz 10 out of 10 for the smile
Thanks John 😜
Comment by Sylvia….that’s MY thatched cottage. Husband spotted you filming, you could have called in for a cuppa! xx
Hi Sylvia, we would have loved a quick cuppa. Such a beautiful cottage you have 😀
Just love you both, so real. Although I have boat envy I couldn’t imagine myself living on one! so I watch mad peeps like you doing it lol
Ha ha thanks Dawn. We loving the lifestyle but saying that, ask us again after winter 🤣🤣
Definitely a split personality talking for the Dog, lol love it.
🤣😀

❤I enjoyed this.
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed 😉
Just love your interesting and informative posts!❤
Thank you Liz 😀
Thoroughly enjoyable video brought back some nice memories been there done that lol.
Thank you so much. Glad we helped to conjure up some memories 😊

Fantastic video guys, beautifully done, great humour as always ,looking forward to your next adventure, 🐾🐾🐾
Thanks Andrew 😀 😊
Best stop in the area is the Cross Keys pub alongside the canal.
Hey Liz & Paul
Great video, can't wait to see the boat tour, you have put so much hard work into that boat
Stay safe
Jane & Martin.
Thanks Jane and Martin 😀
Great vlog as always. I think Ernie is thinking "Wish my dad would stop shouting down my b***din earole" haha :)
Ha ha I actually thought the same when I watched this week's back. Maybe that's why he doesn't always do as he's told because he's now half deaf 🤪🤣

Lovely video. You both seem so happy. Don’t forget to do tick over past moored boats (says the arm chair boater lol) xx
Lol we do tick over most of our journey to be honest as we like to take in everything as we pass 🤣

Thank you 😀
The paintings not done yet. The most important jobs still left to do. You got to paint the tiller and mount Ernie the tiller pin on the tiller 😂
All done now, the tiller has been painted black and a gold Ernie lookalike sits as the tiller pin 😉😄
@@uponreflectionspoiler alert lol 😂. I’ve not got to the blog yet.

I didn't mean canal bridges. I meant bridges total in the whole of milton keynes, as in footbridges, road bridges etc 😂
Good video guys although a bit less silly voices and a bit more Ernie would be great.
Thanks Dennis, I've passed on the message to Ernie and he promises to be in the ones we've not already recorded more 😊
Is it compulsary for narrow boat owners to have a dog ? Almost all seem to .
It's certainly compulsary for me to own a dog 🤣 I'd say a high percentage do have dogs as do house owners though I suppose. 😉😊
Never more than 1/2 a mile from a green space. Not anymore, they are building so fast it’s horrible
It's sad to see isn't it, we are currently travelling past where they are doing HS2 which has ripped through the countryside.
