- As a personal project, I've started porting System Shock 2 to Unreal Engine 5. I'm using Lumen for global illumination and reflections.
I'm using ESRGAN for texture upscaling:

That looks very good! If there would be a remake of this game with the new engine, no things changed gameplay-wise, I would buy it instantly.
Haha yes same here!
I've added a few new dynamic systems, but they are not needed. Like if there was a gameplay option to turn on new systems almost like a mod to have fun with new mechanics.
The additive systems are similar to what we had on Prey. So the mod would be like if System Shock 2 had a baby with Prey option lol
@@NicholasSilveira I am pretty sure something similar happened to Diablo 2 is now very well remastered as Diablo 2 Resurrected
I'd give both of my nuts for a remake.
this popped up in my recommended
i love this remake already, and wish best of luck with the devleopment
I'm surprised this only has a few thousand views! Awesome work. :)
Черт, Выглядит действительно потрясающе, очень хотел бы поиграть в игру на таком движке, а так, я как раз сейчас прохожу SS2 оригинальную, уже добрался до рикенбакера ;) 👍
Now this is beautiful! SS2 is my favorite game ever and I was upset that they didn’t make a sequel after the cliffhanger. Hopefully SS Remake does really well so we can have its sequel remade in UE5. It looks so beautiful!
MedSci, Engineering, Hydroponics, Recreational wow. That's almost half of the game remade in Unreal Engine 5, unbeliavable :)

I have all the levels in Unreal 5. The thing is I have to relight each level... But they are all there 🙂
good effort, the lighting looks good, scary.
Very impressive. If you finish it you'll be a rich man
This looks spectacular!
Nicholas Silveira, you have the best channel in youtube history. The System Shock 2 remake I have ever seen !
this looks awesome i'm gonna keep watching closely!
I havent played it in 2 decades, but i remember it was the same. Graphics and all.
Imagine Night Dive is contacted him. We love your project, we give you funds, full team and licence to finish this remake off.
In result we could play both remakes in Unreal Engine. System Shock 1 and 2. Both extraordinary sci-fi rpg horror games.
PS: I am pretty sure you can use remastered SS2 soundtrack with .flac high quality audio. Can be found on ss2 forum
It's a bit more complicated than that. Tencent now owes System Shock IP. Maybe that's where it starts??? Haha
@@NicholasSilveira actually they don't, Nightdive Studios owns the IP and they allowed OtherSide to do SS3 ;)
@@jordancup5802 this is good to know! :)
@@NicholasSilveira Seriously? That's absolutely horrible news.
@@NicholasSilveira Tencent owns the sequel rights with Otherside. Not the IP.
looks great! Like a genuine upgrade to Shock 2 that would help bring in a new audience even though it's just a fan UE5 port/mod. Would love to play a demo of it
It looks very promissing. I'd love to see this project full-blown remake complete
REALLY well done. A very faithful recreation of SS2. With the advancement of graphics most remakes stray too far from the atmosphere of the original. This looks pretty spot-on.
nintendo hire this man
Looking good 💯
Thank you I need to upload an HD version now haha
I hope Nightdive contacts you to make the project offical !
Kicker from Nightdive reached out to me last year :)
@@NicholasSilveira Nice. I hope Its good news
👍
Have you considered contacting Nightdive studios? Since it looks like they are not planning to do a full remake of SS2 they might be interested in taking this to market.
Yes, Kicker from Nightdive reached out last year asking about my process to Unreal 5 :)
@@NicholasSilveira Sweet! So, are you thinking of ‘doing a Black Mesa’ and making it a retail game in the future? If so [INSERT ‘SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY’ GIF HERE] 😜👍
@@iainbaker6916 hahah honestly I don't have the time or bandwidth to remake SS2, but Im reusing the gameplay systems for my own first person prototype called "One of Us"... inspired by SS2
@@iainbaker6916
Very early prototype here ruclips.net/video/WxL4Bwq2vMc/видео.html
Looks really cool. Is this something you plan on releasing as a mod?
Sorry, there are no plans to release anything.
not sure if its just me, but recently i’ve been getting more into games from 2000s and late 90s
they really should consider a few remakes for these classics
choose your modern game:
- indie garbage with no substance
or
- AAA game outsourced to immigrants
@@swagmankayearIQ "outsourced to immigrants" lmaoo dont blame immigrant boogeyman for the poor state of the modern AAA games. Blame greedy unethical corporate practices instead.
@@rockman00 >greedy corporations even doe they would hire immigrants for cheap labour therefore we said the same thing
@@swagmankayearIQ I think this says more about you than about the state of the game industry to be honest
Can we get a playable demo?
not sure how the newest version looks like, but maybe make the levels less blocky? they did that on the system shock 1 remake due to the fact that they made it fit into the games limitations of graphics and rendering. having such a pixelated with highly detailed enemies and items makes the game look like a cheap-knock off rather than a project worth looking into.
SUBBED!!!
Holy. Fuck. This is great where can I play
This is actually a way the system shock 1 will be remade. I somehow still prefer the original version of ss2 tho just for the whole retro atmosphere that it must have generated in late 90's.
In order for the remake of the game to succeed, melee weapons must be LARGE and occupy up to HALF of the SCREEN. 😃
Get rid of the motion blur
looks a bit off without the view and weapon bobbing
are you doing the whole game ps i must play the original game !
this looks really cool and well done! though personally i think the older aged graphics help with the games feeling and tone, sadly even though you can enhance a games visuals you cant always translate the visual mood without it looking lacking in some ways?
its still absolutely fabulous id love to see what you can do with this engine if you were to make something original!
Dunno man...I think I still like the original graphics better.
I feel the same. If I had time I would try getting closer to the original atmosphere :)
uhhhm, well, good effort, but it looks terrible
this is bad

Nice, in a new version I would like to see more changes, I mean, bigger levels, more variety of enemies, more and/or better weapons.
