This piece is from a different planet. The composer took the bassoon to a new dimension and also the bassoonist is delivering the music in a fantastic way. Great composer, great bassoonist!
Thank you. Hope you can also check out the bassoon concerto which was developed from this piece! ruclips.net/video/yl5bpnREgd8/видео.htmlfeature=shared
@@josephpark8986 the score comes with the fingering charts. thank you. The score is available from either my online store, www.daifujikura.com/un/shop.html or from music shop (or from the publisher, RICORDI ). thank you.
Intriguing. Delighted that I stumbled upon this. I also find the composers notes interesting. I recently completed a flute solo-"Aubade Raga", and inserted similar comments to help the performer have some image to relate the sound to. I was very hesitant as I didn't want to come off too esoteric but never the less I left them in the score. Your music dear sir is other-worldly. Fantastic!
This is so important for composrs. I heard a piano piece ten years ago by Fujikura and never forgot the effect it had on me . I believe it's here on youtube !
I noticed in the score that at measure 145-151 (timestamp 6:09 ) (and elsewhere) there are single notes meant to be held over from the multiphonics and that doesn't come through; the pitch shifts when Nakagawa goes from the multiphonic to the single note. I imagine that must be really difficult. Evidently this isnt' essential to the sound cause it sounds great anyways (though that and clear pianissimo multiphonics would be awesome).
It's all well explained in this book: www.amazon.com/Techniques-Bassoon-Playing-English-German/dp/3761818602 -written by Pascal Gallois, one of the dedicatees of this piece. It also includes a CD with sound demonstration.
Incredible, incredible piece! I'm a composer and I wonder if you, or any bassoonists, would be willing to share the fingering charts for these multiphonics? Thanks in advance for your reply!
thanks - if you happen to encounter the score fo this work - the fingering charts come with. :) also it is from Pascal Gallois' book (he was one of the bassoon player the work was written for - hence I had access to his book before publication, even). thanks again.
funny you say that, as I have written bassoon concerto based on this work - to exactly complimenting the orchestra music (in my own way). :) thanks for listening. Bassoon Concerto: ruclips.net/video/yl5bpnREgd8/видео.html
No problem. You are a very skilled composer. It takes a lot to write in your style without coming off as pretentious. Your style is very natural and I respect that a lot. :)

@@fujikuramusic How do you derive the fingerings for the multiphonics? Are there any resources I can refer to?

Amazing piece! The multiphonics passages work so well just with by playing with the dynamics and articulations
Wow... I can't believe that it is 'solo' piece! so amazing music
I was lucky to hear this piece played by Rebekah herself at Curitiba's new music biennial this year, it's an amazing work.

fantastic!!!
How can perform chords in the basson?
I am intrigued
They aren't chords they are multiphonics
How that's work? I mean, how do you define what's multiphonics are possible in the instrument?
+Francisco Hernandez Sabatino I've wondered that myself. I don't know how anyone remembers that.
So bad. I wanna know for my own composition

Lovely...
This actually amazing
何か生命体の発する音がそのまま音楽になったような気がします。
逆に音楽そのものがそのままその生命体の発する音になっているような気もします。
. . . How do you play quarter tones on bassoon? Just changing embrochure to play slightly flat or sharp?
Why do the multiphonics have "Bnm2" or "Bnm(number)" above them?
I'm not sure but it might mean the number of the 12 most stable multiphonics of the instrument, going from treble clef E to Eb?
Is there any work with kagura suzu?
EEEEEEETS PAHHHFEEECCTTOOOOOOO
Do the chords represent overtones that are heard more readily in performance . I'm still not clear about the notation ?
Those are multiphonics.
can anyone please tell me what does the instruction "Bnm:2" mean?
(beautiful piece and performance!)
it means: Bassoon multiphonics 2.
the score comes with fingering chart of multiphonics in this piece. :)
@@fujikuramusic oh, great, I see. Thanks for the quick reply, and congratulations on a wonderful piece!
What does Bnm mean?
bassoon multiphonics. they are likely numerically listed with fingerings in the preface.
hermosa!!!
JJJEEESSSUUUSSS!!!!
I’m disturbed.
Not a fan of this type of music but those overtones would be so cool as a complimenting thing to an orchestral work.

What does Bnm mean?
It reminds me of Stravinsky in a way
Honestly so true
Tbh there is no difference between pianississimo and “pianissississisissimo”
Are you on drugs or is this low F with the Bb key pressed down and/or low Ab with the second finger lifted up?
Am I the only one who read the title as da fuck
