I happen to come across this today and I am so grateful to hear these dudes acknowledge in my opinion the absolute BEST TO EVER DO IT......I have been a day one fan of his. I have always purchased two CDs of his albums. One I listened to and one I never opened to this day right now on my wall. I Love music and have many songs I have written and made but have never posted any which is crazy but I reference him throughout my music and you can here his influence in my songs. Jay Z truly embodies the entire package and the description of what would be a Super Mega Titan Superstar....Lol lol. I recently even did my own personal dedication project expressing the inspiration hes been to me and all that he has given musically to the world and The Culture of Hip Hop. I think Jay-Z understands that Hip Hop is a young person game. So since he retired in 2003 The Black Album was his last album that had banging singles with the only exception being The Blueprint 3. He doesn’t need to follow trends or even try to make chart topping singles his name will carry his music. 4:44 is the perfect example of this. That album is my 4th favorite from Jay-Z just behind Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, and Vol.3 Life And Times Of S.Carter

One of the happiest interviews I've seen of Kanye. Old school. When his ego wasn't as big.... Honestly I think someone like Kanye can still change. Most of the artists that have a psychedelic phase tend to showcase their most creative work while finding out what’s real in their life. Look to Mike Tyson and how he is today. Now I get that it doesn’t always work out, but that goes for anything in life. I mean shit, you mentioned that Kanye has already had issues without the psychedelics. So even without the thing YOU fear being involved, he still has hit rocky roads.

HOV is my favorite rapper, but being able to adapt to time has a lot to do with Ye producing his songs too. Back before I was born lyrics was a lot more important than now. I feel like nowadays and maybe 2000s too, you start with a dope beat and you go from there but many people don't even care about the lyrics anymore. And for those people Kanye made Jay z relevant. This is my opinion tho, if you disagree let me know
jay went dropped a classic before ye (reasonable doubt) then dropped a classic with ye (the blueprint) and then dropped another classic after without ye (4:44)...sounds like jay just being jay to me lol. he's had ups n downs as all artists do but with or without ye he's been at the forefront of rap setting trends instead of adapting to them

Pair that with Ye producing , every song was a classic.

That’s because Jay is better at adapting with the times than Eminem ever has been. Jay picked better beats and even wrote better songs.
