Optimus killing him was the right call.

At this point he was like, enough is enough, I'm cutting out the cancer from this planet (Megatron and Sentinel P.)

Fun Fact:
Peter David's novelization for *"Dark*

(which was also in earlier script drafts
and in the comic book) where after
Optimus first killed Sentinel with his
rust cannon (instead of Megatron's
shotgun like in the film), Megatron's
offer of a truce was genuine with him
stating that he is tired of fighting
and he will tell the other Decepticons
to stand down. Optimus is reluctant
at first (who could blame him?), but after Megatron offered Optimus to kill him, Optimus accepts the truce.
I love how sentinel died the same way as Ironhide

Sentinel got what he deserved! He foolisly betrayed Optimus and killed his friend when he was his mentor, teaming up with the Decepticons just to bring Cybertron back, but he couldn't accept that Cybertron is gone and he's a real hypocrite caring at all about letting the humans die! @@skyfaller3d417 Optimus Prime being friendly to humans doesn't mean every transformers would, infact the humans even betrayed the autobots with a more nonsense reason than Sentinel Prime.
Their is no room to care about war crimes in a situation like this.
"Mercy to the enemy mustn't come at the cost of mercy for their victims"
As a kid I cheered when Optimus Prime killed Sentinel Prime and even years later I still find his demise satisfying. That's what he gets for betraying the Autobots and nearly committing mass genocide.
For those of you who think Optimus was being too harsh here let me be clear: Optimus did nothing wrong in this scene. First let's talk about Megatron. He is pure evil. He started the whole war on cybertron by teaming up with the fallen. It all started with him. He caused so much damage throughout these films and killed so many autobots over the years including jazz. Now he wants Optimus to just forgive him and make peace?! It's clear what he's trying to do here: he says "All I want is to be back in charge" not only does it clearly mean he wants to take back control of the Decepticons, but he will also try to take over earth again and will probably kill Optimus later on to prevent him from getting in the way. Optimus was right in what he did.
Now let's talk about Sentinel: he said that Optimus must see why he "had" to betray him. He is 100% wrong. He did not have to betray him, he didn't have to join the Decepticons, he didn't have to kill Ironhide and lots of nest troops and he most certainly never had to enslave the humans and kill thousands in Chicago. He had the technology the autobots needed to win the war, but instead he used it for evil. If he had used the pillars differently, the autobots would have easily won and cybertron could be repaired. Optimus knew this. His entire moral compass and his desire to defend life was taught to him by Sentinel and what did Sentinel do? He totally abandoned his own moral principles for a delusional solution and teamed with the guy who started the whole war when he had what he needed to repair cybertron, he just had to use it differently. But he killed Optimus's oldest friend in Ironhide and enslaved an entirely different race. Sentinel was a definite hypocrite and Optimus executed him, not just for betraying his own principles but for enslavement and killing thousands of humans.
In conclusion, Optimus is one hundred percent right in what he did. Sentinel made a choice he did not need to make, and no one in the right mind would make a true with Megatron. Thes guys made their choices and they dealt with a consequence.
All facts, the Bay haters need to see this

Can we just agree that this was the most epic scene in the all of transformers
Opening of the 86 movie>
1:58”you didn’t betray me you betrayed yourself” bro was fed up with his bullshit
Megatron, a legendary gladiator in Kaon, final words were “rock fart”.
I can't not hear it now.
More like unfair
1:30
I think Megatron greatly exaggerates some of his stories as a gladiator since in most continuities nowadays he's usually been beaten by Optimus.
More like "not fun"
Optimus executing Megatron and Sentinel was objectively justified because:
1. Megatron's truce was bullshit. He was actively waving around a shotgun and claimed he wanted to be back in charge, that paired with the attempted mass populicide he attempted 5 years later in AOE proves he had no intent of surrendering.
2. Sentinel is a traitor to his faction, who slaughtered the first lieutenant in cold blood, attempted to kill his leader after cutting off his arm, and lead a genocide where his forces gunned down fleeing civilians hours before attempting to enslave 7-billion people.
3. Optimus spared Megatron's life at the end of ROTF, and he repaid him by attempting to enslave the human species.
4. Transformer prisons didn't exist until TLK, which takes place in 2023, a little over a decade after DOTM. The only logical way to deal with these tyrants was execution.
I don’t think people heard Megatron yell “THIS IS MY PLANET” as he beat Sentinel to the ground
Living proof that he was lying about his “truce”
I couldn’t agree more☝🏻
The Last Knight took place in 2018

Prime is a cold blooded killer in a complete psychopath in the Bayformers universe. 😂
@@arealkingsamcarter7361 how would you feel if your home planet got destroyed along with your friends to these guys
For people who say this is out of character for Optimus... yeah it is... when he's portrayed without flaws! I like this version, an Optimus with flaws, with limits, and in this moment understanding he cannot allow Sentinel or Megatron to live and attempt something like this again. He has already come to terms with the loss of Cybertron even before this movie happened, and no version of Optimus would allow what Sentinel and Megatron were attempting. This is when Optimus cast aside the idea of mercy for these two and stood with the full intent to kill them both, which means he wasn't holding back. Megatron is so used to Optimus holding back he was caught off guard and thus defeated so easily.
You confuse an Optimus who stays true to his moral convictions with a flawless character. Optimus would of never executed a surrendering enemy in cold blood.
@@kingorange7739 This "Surrendering enemy" litteraly kill millions of peaple and kill a leal friend (Ironhide). This no is the Mister Nice Guy Optimus, this is a tired warrior.
@@AEstetica.feminina he doesn’t have to be nice. As if you bother reading the original novel, even he was conflicted upon accepting the peace. @@kingorange7739 He just did. Get over it.
Optimus said "please" to sentinal not to spare his life, but to stop what he is doing to earth.
He’s right sentiel prime didn’t betray Optimus he betrayed himself
The way optimus says about "you betrayed yourself" means sentinel did not accept that they were machines and wants to call themselves Gods
This is not a war crime. Both were extremely dangerous threats to autobots and humanity if left alive. Optimus did justice to all by killing them expeditiously. Ironhide and Jazz needed to be avenged. Let's not forget that Megatron killed Optimus already. This was long overdue. A truce wouldn't have made any sense.
Also I think a truce would fall apart over time and it will be civil war all over again.
There was a truce in a deleted ending
You are under no obligation to accept a surrender that you do not believe is being given in good faith. Sentinel Prime almost certainly was not surrendering in good faith.
“FOR IRONHIDE!!!!”
You have to admit, Optimus is quite bad ass in the Transformers universe. He’s just a knight but he has bested and eliminated titans, gods, and so many formidable foes. His victories include Megatron, Galvatron, Unicron, The Fallen, an enhanced Scourge, Lockdown and many others. You can even say he defeated the mighty Grimlock into submission
Honestly, the original ending where Optimus ans Megatron peacefully end the war was alot better. Too me, its not in character for Optimus to just murder Megatron by ripping his spine out in an extremely painful way.
It's not in character for Optimus to fucking execute Sentinel with a shotgun while he begs for his life either lmao
This whole movie series was "out of character," although I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Optimus wreck people.
You think it’s in character for Megatron to stop trying to take over the world?
@@qualicumjack3906 Yeah, other continuities like IDW, Prime, some Marvel spinoffs, CW and others have shown it's perfectly in reason for Megatron to wish to stop the war if he either see no reason to continue it or has become disillusioned with the whole thing.

@@Meldrick-jv7syI mean this scene is really gritty, it’s clearly what the writers were going for.
“He’s too dangerous to be left alive” sorta shit- has happened countless times in war.
I’ve heard some people talking about how Optimus wasn’t exactly heroic here
Here’s how I see it, sometimes you can’t be the hero to do the right thing
Cybertron was a dying world, and the Transformers a dying species, Optimus saw this, he understood this and so he knew that he couldn’t stop it, but when Sentinel said that they just needed to kill another planet and another species to save Cybertron and the Transformers race, well, it’s not right
If humanity were to be dying off and we could survive through the extermination of a separate race of creatures, we wouldn’t be heroes, we’d be monsters, killing off an entire other race just to save our dying race
I understand the importance of worrying about ourselves above all others, but that should really only be applicable in defending ourselves from an antagonizing force, never as the antagonists ourselves
And so Optimus may not have been a hero, but he did the right thing, sacrificing one race for another isn’t heroic, it’s wrong
Megatron could never be trusted, so wanting a truce was BS the moment he betrayed Sentinel, and Sentinel DESERVED to die for killing Ironhide with his back turned like a coward. Optimus did nothing wrong in this scene.
@@enterthekyuubi Sentinel for all intents and purposes is now a Decepticon, and Decepticons are untrustworthy.
I have the sad feeling that if our planet was dying and the human race in danger of becoming extinct, if we found a habitable planet that was already inhabited, most of us would feel justified in eliminating the native population so we could live there😔
Besides, the Decepticon’s plan to rebuild Cybertron is doomed to fail: transporting a large planet into Earth’s orbit would have catastrophic effects on Earth’s gravitational field and orbit around the Sun. Their plan to enslave humanity would fail as all or most of the human race would be dead. Plus, how are humans supposed to rebuild a planet they have never been to? What standard do they use?
Oh don’t sell us too short. Because that is exactly what I’d say just about what anyones virtually extinct people would try to do. But with us human I think we would actually prefer to just simply look for a place to stay and if it’s already inhabited it would just depend on the situation on exactly what would happen in the end.

In terms of strength alone, Optimus will not lose to Sentinel at all, he loses in the choice of weapons. Before tf4, the weapons of optimus are basically as long as his forearm, and his attack distance is also very limited. Furthermore, the sharpness of energy sword and energy ax has always been a big problem. In tf2, the energy sword faces the megatron and the fallen, the thorns are critical but they can’t go in, so sparks come out. tf3 can also reflect this problem. At the beginning, optimus stabbed and slashed at sentinel, but there was no wound, only small sparks. On the other hand, sentinel blocked most of the attacks from optimus with a big same body size shield , with the big same body size double-sided blade not to mention the attack range and the power it is. Under the condition that the energy sword is not sharp enough and has a large shield to defend, Optimus can withstand the violent bombardment of the deceptacon battleship, and can continuously suppress the sentinel, which is already very powerful, even if it is just an ineffective attack..., but If optimus use the weapon configuration of tf4 and tf5 to fight, sentinel would have been beaten to the ground long ago. .
Yeah Sentinel had to call for reinforcements on a serious Optimus at the end of TF3 and losing his jet mode
“Our planet will survive” idk but that was a fuckin badass quote from sentinel
It’s menacing how he smiles after killing his brother and his mentors who both betrayed him the smile of Victor knowing that this is all over
You know, Optimus ripping Megatron in 2 pieces sort of reminds me of what Megatron did to Jazz in the 1st movie.
Good eye!
2 you tubers have retroactively made this the funniest cinematic moment I have and will ever see in my life.
Really, Sentinel deserved to die. Ignore war crimes Optimus might have committed. Sentinel killed his Autobot ally Ironhide, killed thousands if not hundreds of humans when Decepticons invaded Earth, and more in the Chicago invasion, planned to enslave humanity and take over the Decepticons from Megatron. He planned to kill his apprentice Optimus Prime, and people said Optimus was ruthless, so Sentinel committed more atrocities.
To be fair, after he killed him ROTF, Megatron kinda deserved the Thanos treatment.
Fatality
Optimus Prime Wins
SMOKING THAT FUCKING Sentinel!!!!!!!!
I feel like if prime really wanted to, he could've wiped out decepticon
Love this Optimus. 🥶🥶🥶 cold blooded.
Man, Optimus came back like a champ
Kinda interesting to see how Megatron just stomped and played with Sentinel Prime . Kinda makes me think again that Megatron was the most feared and powerful transformer .. but he got so fed up with revenge and the will to lead planet Earth .. that he lost his strenght in time
“All I ever wanted was the survival of our race you must see why I had to betray you”
“You didn’t betray me you betrayed yourself”
“No optimas ahhhhhh”
Double shot
“All I want is to be back in charge besides who would you be without me prime”
“Time to find out”
Rip megatons head of his body
The two most brutal deaths in the transformers bayverse
Wow optimas prime is brutal when he has got 1 arm
Sentinel prime and megatron both died due to optimas prime with 1 arm
It's a fun fact?
@@user-ju4nk4td6v no
I don't care what anyone says, this scene here is fucking badass as hell and needed to happen lol
That underhand axe throw was so dirty, it was genius. Megatron probably thought he was going to pull it up for an over hand slice after he ran up to him, but no, he just instantly lobs it without any wind up. Took him out instantly when he got real serious.
You didn’t betray me you betrayed yourself that’s deep Cuz it something everyone has done even if they didn’t notice
Sentinel prime 360 move
Broken ankles
1 arm lost by optimus
Megatron shoots 3 shots on Sentinel prime
Optimus kills Megatron
Picks up 12 gauge
Optimus kills Sentinel prime
Optimus wins✅
He main antagonist in this movie isn’t even megatron like the first 2 movies.
Megatron wasn't the main antagonist in RotF, the Fallen was. He literally called Fallen "master" multiple times.
It felt fuckin good seeing this on the big screen in 2011, I was shouting "Do it Optimus do it for Ironhide!".
People looked at me like I was autistic but I didn't care xD
no hesitation no mercy for optimus prime
2:04 this is for ironhide bi###
