Thanks for these great recommendations! I love your descriptions-just right! I’m going to suggest Necessary Lies to my Book Club tomorrow. Sounds fabulous! The Other Boleyn Girl was one that I couldn’t put down years ago. And the Lisa Wingate one freaked me out that those things truly happened. And not very many years ago. Added many to my TBR-thank you so much!

I’ve come to your channel a bit late - I was looking for YT videos on historical fiction and saw yours. I enjoyed it very much and got some great additions to my TBR. HF is one of my favorite genres and I was so happy to see your non-WWII recommendations. I’m weary of the saturation of books in that time line. There’s so many other great books in other eras. I love Philippa Gregory as well. If you haven’t yet, I recommend you check out Margaret George and Alison Weir. There’s a lot of great Civil War-era HF as well.

I have an Allison Weir on my tbr shelf. I would like to start getting back into some earlier historical fiction.

I’ve had The Kitchen House on my shelf forever. The Gown sounds very interesting and that cover is stunning. I really need to read more historical fiction - it is one of my favorite genres. It just seems to always get bumped for something else.

The Kitchen House is definitely on my TBR. I didn't realize that Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain was historical fiction. I loved Before We Were Yours! Oh wow, I am so looking forward to Lisa Wingate's nonfiction book! Until Tomorrow, Mr. Marworth seems wonderful. My library nor Overdrive doesn't have it, but I recommended it on my library's Overdrive and one of my neighboring library has it if I really want to read it sooner rather than later, but I have so many books I want to read! Love your channel

These all sound so good! The 19th Wife was amazing! I actually grew up Mormon, and can say that this book was incredibly well researched, which I loved and appreciated. Adding lots more books to my TBR! Thanks for another awesome video!

I love historical fiction. I am going to read the Kitchen House now that I have heard you praise it. I read The Red Tent years ago and I may reread it again. It is very fascinating!

Great recommendations! I have read a few of these and loved them as well, The kitchen house, The 19th wife and almost all Philippa Gregory’s books. I have had the hearts invisible furies on my TBR for forever I feel like it’s time I finally give it a go. If you haven’t yet check out America’s First Daughter By: Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoi. It’s absolutely fantastic, one of my favorites of all time non world war 2 historical fiction.

Phillipa Gregory writes about British royalty. I know Allison Weir does as well. Is that what you're looking for?

"The 19th Wife" is an example of an author who has no respect for historical accuracy or the beliefs of others. It is horribly inaccurate in it's historical portrayal and it makes light and pokes fun of things that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints hold sacred. As someone who grew up in this church, is currently a member of this church, and has done in-depth research on the history of the church, I can say that this book is very offensive and inaccurate. If you want a real portrayal of what life was like for an early member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I recommend "The Work and the Glory" series. These books are accurate, well researched, and have countless first hand accounts to back them up. Something "The 19th Wife" does not.
Thank you for the video and the other recommendations.
