Remember "As The Rush Comes" by Motorcycle? A project from Gabriel & Dresden and singer / songwriter JES, which came out in the year 2003. Now, 15 years later, it is one of the most famous vocal trance classics ever. So, how did they all meet and what happened after the production of the track? Because of the 15th anniversary of "As The Rush Comes", I sat down with Josh & Dave in Amsterdam, to talk with them about this beautiful classic.

One of the best, maybe even the best trance track ever! I didn't realise Gabriel and Dresden were Motorcycle. I just thought they did a remix of the track. How dumb of me! I can't wait to see them at the Chicane gig in London in July! Bring it on....
These guys are legends. I used to dj and any mix that had these guys’ name on it, I didn’t even need to listen before I bought.
Summer of love :). At the time I've heard the song for the first time I was very much in love. It became OUR song, despite we never ended up together. Now we are both over 40, living thousands of kilometers apart, but I'm 100% sure that she always thinks of me when she hears this song, as do I of her. Beautiful memories

Love G&D. 'As the Rush Comes' was one of the first trance CDMs I bought. ❤ Jose Amnesia also shared a "Children of Ibiza" documentary that featured it effectively and had a big impression on me.
I was there in that era and I never got the chance grabbing this track. So many white label in my collection but I AM missing yours.
I'm amazed at how down to earth and likeable these guys, and others on the channel come across. It's so nice that they aren't all aloof and pretentious about their music, especially considering how inspired these tracks are.

This was always the one track that I remember symbolizing my clubbing days. The lyrics perfectly matched the gestalt among all of us. And I'm so happy to hear that there has been a professional resolution between JES and Josh and Dave. I had heard that things were difficult for a while. Also recall a very specific afterparty in Atlanta more than a decade ago when someone offered Josh a party favor and Josh kindly replied: "No thanks, it's too much of an investment." He wasn't judging, just stating a fact for himself. I never forgot that, or how both gentlemen were so gracious to each of their fans. Can't wait for the next Motorcycle project.
Such timeless classic, still listen to it in the car frequently (extended 10 minute version of course !), never gets old !
Probably the most organic sounding interview you've done yet, and I think its down to the open-nature of Josh & Dave, quite cool guys actually.

2003/4 was a really rough time for Trance, Dance Music was in a rut after the 90’s Peak. Might explain why they struggled to get it signed at first.

Only heard it a few times, then went to an all-nighter at NEC and track came on we didn't the lyrics ... but then 12000 people started singing....talk about Goosebumps or what.
I remember hearing this tune from a G&D live mix recording and had to get hold of this song. Managed to get one of the 500 UK white labels. Still one of my most favourite tunes ever. It is mad that record labels couldn't see the potential of this song.

I've known Dave for over twenty years - back the days when he used to write for Billboard Magazine as 'Dave The Wave'... Check my RUclips - there's a video of him playing a track of mine from years ago at a now defunct club in Toronto. Anyway, back in the day we belonged to something called the Progress List - which was an email-based listserv list that many of the best trance and progressive house producers in the world belonged to. It was invite only.
I remember Dave sharing this to us before it was released saying how proud he was, and then seeing it rise up the charts and Dave's first foreign gig ever (Finland I believe) off the back of it. Needless to say, I was one of the first thirty or so people who heard this record!
Oh wow, lucky you! And yes, I actually do know his "Dave The Wave" alias. I do have his "Trancendence - The First Wave" CD compilation hehe. Dave is a great guy, know him for some years as well, but not as long as you haha!

@@muzikxpress I've heard so many stories about music where record labels didn't wanna sign it or where the artists struggled to get the tracks signed and then later the track blew up etc. Makes me wonder about all the hidden gems we might have lost due to this...

Oh wow that was great! I remember when I heard it first here in Finland maaany years ago. I was driving in a snow storm towards Helsinki for I can’t remember what, but when that song came out from the radio I was literally blown away. Even though I’m involved in the scene, I had no idea it was Gabriel & Dresden behind it. 🙌🏻 good stuff!

Very exciting! I went with a bunch of friends to see this song performed live at Webster Hall in 2004, means a lot to me. I hope Motorcycle makes an amazing comeback in 2019.

Thank you! And to be honest, for now I am not looking for any suggestions. If you check the "community" tab on my channel you can see a post I made a few weeks ago about what I'm looking for (and what not). I'm pretty picky ;-) I have a wish list of over 50 people for now and I have at least 11 interviews I still need to edit. And some more confirmed for later this year, so I don't really have time for any new interviews anytime soon anyway hehe. Glad you love the channel!!!

those record companies can suck it for how they didn't want to sign for it, it was one of my favorite songs on Dance Dance Revolution: Extreme 2 in 2005 and it was my very 1st DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) game back in 2005 when tha game was 1st released omg As the Rush Comes (Gabriel & Dresden Sweeping Strings Remix) blew me away on dat videogame, i still wanna do a gameplay of it, i usually play it on my Twitch livestreams tho

It would be good to hear an interview about Around you and that motorcycle album that never happened. (They fell out with Jes?). I remember all the hype about Around You at the time when Armin and A&B were playing it.
I have a white label of Imagine with the Enmass remix on it from that time. Amazing mix. It also has a class Dave Dresden mashup of deep breath Sedna on the other side.
I only do interviews about big hits / classics (also not about albums), that’s what my channel is all about. Interviews about lesser known tracks hardly get any views unfortunately, so my focus is on the hits / famous classics.
