Loved the visuals for this performance of the song. I’ve always found the lyrics (detailing a soldier contemplating his life, actions in war, the morality of war, and as he dies his life flashes before his eyes) super profound, and watching it with those visuals and the harsh painful sound of Tim’s distorted piano got me crying. I love Under the Iron Sea so much, Hopes and Fears is amazing, but I associate it so much with the sound of my childhood it mainly appeals to that side of me. The themes, tone, mood and vibes of Under the Iron Sea just appeal to me so much more as an adult who’s seen a fair share of the world now. It’s also quite a relevant song too, as long as war and needless fighting and suffering persist be it Ukraine or Gaza right now or any conflict, this song and the album in general will stay relevant.
