My brother in law is schizophrenic and does have violent tendencies when he had delusions of being threatened. It's heartbreaking and terrifying at the same time. If we had a way to force him to stay in medications and away from methamphetamines it would be so much better for him (and all of his loved ones), but they won't keep him in a hospital long enough to get him on track. Even a judge couldn't get him admitted long enough because he hasn't hurt anyone (yet) and the facilities are always too full.

My mom is diagnosed with this and if she goes off meds it’s not like she has multiple personalities, it’s more like dementia for her where she wanders off looking for things to tell her things.

I'm so sorry. I think these "myths" and "debunks" are too generalized, because it is an unpredictable disorder with many varying symptoms and results. I understand what you mean.

I have been accused of having multiple personalities and nothing is more irritating. Diagnosed w this and so many stigmas connected as well.
