  • This is a specific drill you will often see Tennis pros doing with kids during QuickStart 10 & Under tennis lessons. It's also a simple drill that parents can do with their children at home.
Step 1 - bounce and catch with both hands
Step 2 - bounce and catch with a cone
Step 3 - bounce and catch with your racquet

How do you keep a five year old from getting bored with drills?

We try to work with different progression drills and short periods of time (5-10min) per drill.

Vary the drills. You can use many in one coaching session. But repeat them on another day. This way the child knows how to do them-- less talk from the teacher is good.

@@gymcoach1695 Drills should be explained or demonstrated in doable methods. Mention the names of the kids as well as commending them on each step of the drill by encouraging them to get to the finish line even if some stages were no correctly perfomed.
