    Correction: The charts list this as a 120 fan, but as stated earlier in the video, it's a 140 fan. The cooler was tested with the stock 140 fan. Just a typo. Watch our tour of the Shenzhen SEG E-Market (massive electronics marketplace) from 2019! ruclips.net/video/nXWB9GPkm3U/видео.html

      Hello GamersNexus. I have this cooler and it goes by the name Prolimatech Megahalems in the US market. It is a design from 2010. It was a $60-70 cooler back then. And was made for LGA775 or 1155
      I am very impressed that you can get this cooling capability for $15

      Could it be possible that at least part of the base plate was originally supposed to be for some kind of CPU water cooler, with the scouring being on top as if it has been reversed to be useable again, possibly a project that failed? Just looking for a resomn why it would be milled for no good reason and still be part of a well priced cooler.

    I've actually found many of these unheard of Chinese brands do have good customer service. I once had a UMIDIGI phone and I broke the charging cable by running over it with my chair, so I contacted them because the spare generic cable I had wouldn't fit the phone securely, they said they had no spare cables, but they would send me £15 ($22) to buy a new cable from a different store on Amazon!

      Agree, some of these chinese brands have decent customer service for example 8bitdo. They're great actually. Due to just how competitive the local market is, non of them actually make it big enough to, so to speak, corporatize. This result in these brands mostly run by just a few guys and gals with stocks of at most 1000s per stock cycle, which also means that there's very little chance for the head of the company to be disconnect from their customer. Even with the biggest ones that make it to international market, they're usually at most around 20-40 employees.

    This cooler would actually fit my use case perfectly. I have a Ryzen 3200G APU no graphics card. So having the fan mounted on the bottom would be fine. I have 120mm exhaust fans top and rear with 140mm front intake fans. Would love to see what this cooler would do with a spare BeQuiet 140mm fan. As a builder I often have spare fans lying around.

    There's actually a decent percentage of companies in China, that don't really mind that much when somebody uses an IP or straight up, takes someone else's product without asking. Especially when so many aren't patented. The vaping industry is really into that stuff. Then again, all those Chinese Vape Companies are in the same neighborhood/building/factory, in Shenzhen. lol

    I think Steve is right about the "doing something different" thing.
    Big companies play safe and safe in design usually amounts to boring.
    I'm not saying go steal images but think outside the box like Yeston.
    Consider GPUs, the back is the boring part, let's make it the interesting side so it looks nice in a case.
    Remember the limited edition Assassin's Creed Origins card? More things like that, doesn't even have to be a licensed product either.

    Usually around the same price you can find a Snowman 6 heatpipe dual tower cooler from aliexpress. Would like to see it professionally tested have only seen a couple videos about it. Seems like the only one actually worth possibly waiting for shipping. Every other has a comparable priced local counterpart. But getting a dual fan double tower for $20 might actually be more of a value.

    Nice, this looks like it comes from the same factory Prolimatech Megahalems were made back in the day(now Prolimatech Basic 83 on aliexpress). That was one mighty cool, and cool looking cooler, back in the day ~2010. The original top is Transformers like motif xD. It's a shame Prolimatech as a brand folded. At least the factory is still making similar heatsinks!
    I still own my "first tower cooler" Prolimatech Mega Shadow which was the full nickel-plated limited "deluxe version" of the Megahalems, and I'm hoping to display it as an art/show piece together with a Crosshair IV Formula, Geil Black Dragon Evo One RAM, Zaward Golf G3 and a Scythe Gentle Typhoon.

They did not try to deliver again, message me (I have a Fedex account...), or anything. After not hearing anything the next thing I receive is an email from B&H saying that my return/refund is confirmed? WTF? I feel bad for B&H since they shipped the product, but Fedex F***ed up as usual. I refuse to purchase anything from a company that uses Fedex for delivery.

    Pulling / Pushing Air from the top of the case sounds actually good to me for an air cooled build. Are there similar coolers?
    I always wanted to do a top-to-bottom airflow build (or vice versa) since the silverstone ft03 (the new alta series just doesn't cut it for me). With almost every case having top mounts for 120 fans this makes makes more sense than pulling air from the sides and trying to push it out through that single hole in the back. Or maybe even bottom / top in and side out?

    • @michaelschueffler
      @michaelschueffler 2 года назад +1

      top intake generally doesn't make much sense because you'll end up recirculating warm air outside the case, and internally, you're blowing hot air towards the GPU (in standard ATX tower layout). You're also going to get a lot of dust, since most cases don't have top air filters.

    • @dakai4992
      @dakai4992 2 года назад

      @@michaelschueffler A cheap magnetic dust filter solves that problem. Recirculating warm air outside the case is assuming the worst case ignoring the environmental heat dissipation. You can make that assumption for any part of the case, because the whole point of air cooling is to have air circulation. It's not that I dismiss the logic behind it, but without restrictions I could assume that the air from the back circulates to the bottom GPU intake and the a top exhaust just circulates to the front.
      The air blown towards the back of the GPU will most likely be still cooler than the GPU itself not accounting for a backplate. And that's not even considering the turbulence created by a standard GPU installation.
      The thing is how you model your air flow is probably the most important part. And imho front intakes are a super inefficient relic from the past when HDDs still needed cooling. The turbulence created by a standard GPU position (that ctually blows hot air towards the CPU) and the possible "cannibalization" of front intakes by a top exhaust (like in that one LTT video where they tested their fog machine) are kinda design flaws that cases can struggle with. I also wouldn't mind (in a theoretical case) to have the option to replace some of the pcie brackets with a fan.
      Purely anecdotic; I can flip my FT03 upside down and basically have a top intake with no temperature change. On the other hand the GPU in a Lian Li Dynamic (air cooled) seems to benefit more from an inversed position.
      I would just love to try that, but my Arctic Cooling 34 isn't rotatable on AM4 and I don't feel like buying a Noctua just for that.

    • @Vegemeister1
      @Vegemeister1 2 года назад +1

      I've had an idea for a while that you could make a really effective design with:
      - Horizontal motherboard (like an old-school desktop case)
      - Bottom intake through a proper pleated furnace filter (not mesh, with it's zero load capacity and high aerodynamic resistance)
      - 90° rotated CPU cooler, blowing toward the GPU backplate
      - Negative pressure top exhaust (which would be "side exhaust", in a tower configuration)
      That gets you lots of filtered, cool air directly on the back of the motherboard to remove heat from non-heatsinked components and high-current traces, and the exhaust fan directly sucks hot air out of the CPU and side-exhausting GPU coolers.

    Back in the days where my CPU was 65 w and my gou was 150-200w kept everything nice and cool
    Used to have one of those wrap around thermal right GPU heatsinks as well. Running passively just the CPU fan pulling heat from it. Good times.
