I do like your concept of minor modifications to the projector.
Some people totally remove the transport system and have to make a new base and other things.
I also liked your idea of using a 3D printer, capacitance bed leveling sensor to pick up the shutter wheel's position, therefore, the film picture in frame. I'm going to consider that for my project.
My only comments about operation is that for one, it's VERY VERY slow!
That's the home brew software, I suspect.
The other very noticeable problem was that the images are captured on a slight angle. That is probably due to the camera or image sensor (whichever you are using) just not sitting 100% flat. That should just be an adjustment.
Also, for some reason, the stepper motor is making a horrendous noise. That is most likely in the code too, plus, there are stepper motor silencer modules that should help to quiet that down. I couldn't imagine doing a scan over night. LOL
Other than that, not bad at all.

Hi . thank You for you comment. Yes it s an homemade software. the choosen architecture is not the more relevant because the communication between Arduino and the PC software slow the process. I plan to rebuild the this software next year with more tasks embedded on arduino. the stepper motor is noisy, but I bought a first price one I suppose you can one quieter. The image is not perfectly horizontal, true, but it's not a big problem, I adjust the angle with hitflim express in a postprocessing when I add subtitles and music.
the process is slow also by definition, 18images by sec. 4mn =60x60x4 = 14 400 pics to scan . My actual software take ~5sec. by pic.
If you are interested I can provide my Matlab code.
      Thanks for your comments.

Very good. The sharpness is excellent. Your exposure is too hot, try to make it darker. It is better to start from a darker image and bring up the brightness.

Quite a slow system. One 50 feet roll takes 24 hours to scan, or even more.
