IMO, Duke's '04 team was perhaps it's best defensive team under K. They had their offensive shortcomings. Inconsistent guard play after Duhon, but by god what quick hands and feet.
Possibly. 04, 05, 99, 2010 all come to mind. Actually the Landlord led excellent defenses all 4 years. They never found a consistent 3rd scorer that after Deng left, like the other things you stated also. Duhon was a very good PG as long as you weren't asking him for 15, 16 a game. Underrated Duke player.
Sheesh, I forgot how much I hated 2004. Duke broke our hearts twice that year. Was sure they were gonna win it all. I just remember PRAYING that UConn would beat them in the Final Four. I'll always love Emeka Okafor for that haha.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I've heard the theory that the NCAA didn't want to ACC teams in the championship game. Either way 99, 04, and 11 3 titles that should be hanging in Cameron that are hanging in Connecticut
But defensively the shotblocking, lateral quickness, position defense, etc. were the best collectively. There were other teams with better defensive players like Battier, Hill, King, Amaker, JD, etc. but collectively there were none better. 1999 was a better team with better offensive talent, but that 04 team would get after your ass on defense.
