    Is this the start of a Halloween themed series of videos? Ghost notes... How about one on Vamps, perhaps Decomposition, and the notes E B G B 👻

    I saw this lesson title and said, “Oh this is something I need!” and I see that I saw it 10 months ago. But I need to revisit it. Proves the same lesson is applicable at different stages of playing, as long as a GREAT teacher like Dan is doing the teaching ! Thank you Dan !

    Thanks for this video. I tended to mute the ghost note with only one finger and sometimes got a harmonic. Now I know where I went wrong.

    Well done! I m 67 and have been a bassist most of my life but some weird calling had me pick up keyboards starting in 2012 and yet I’m returning to bass, I am always very relaxed and happy and after putting bass down for a yea or two and can have most of my stuff back in a couple of days. I have found that It’s all about taking it slowly enough where you can play it perfectly and then increase the tempo. Too many times students are impatient or assume that they have to play at the speed of the demonstration. That’s with any instrument of course, but I was adding this to my bass game, and I just wanted to add that. You got this though you da man! Keep up the great work 😎🎶🎶🎶🎶

    Hi Dan! I was watching the video in slow motion as I am just beginning and there seems to be a difference between what you play and what is written in the Rocco bass line. It appears in the final part of the sixteenth notes where instead of playing two sevens or fours you play one seven or four and then three ghost notes, instead of two regular and two ghost notes. Dunno if you are going to see this comment but I wanted to point it out for future reference.
    PD: Rewatching it I realized with happens only with the first bar with the sevens, not with the fours.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  2 месяца назад

      Pretty sure I’m playing it how it’s written most of the time but happy to be corrected! I do sometimes improvise around a written line 🙏👍

    Can you elaborate on getting that satisfying muted sound for the ghost note? I feel like mine feels thin and not as punchy- are you only applying pressure for a brief second?

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  11 месяцев назад

      Timing definitely matters. I’m using more than one finger as I mentioned. It could also be the bass, strings, EQ settings, or plucking intensity. The technique should remain roughly the same though. Do it a lot and you’ll get the touch required to make it sound good. Hope that helps.
