i almost forgot Bandaids was a thing, considering we now have Tangle.
but being fair, my favorite mod atm has got to be SA Sonic, second favorite being Modern Sonic, he's probably gonna be my main when he's finally updated

Because the devs of the game actively encourage it by making modding easy and accessible. Even having a full guide on the SRB2 wiki on how to mod levels, music, characters etc.
