The Dyatlov Pass stuff is fairly cleanly explained with Paradoxical Undressing - where hypothermia makes you feel like you're on fire, so you try and ditch clothes. You can construct a whole scenario in which the "car crash" victims were killed by an avalanche, and the survivors were killed by hypothermia. The people further ahead got killed in the avalanche, and the survivors turned back to return to the camp to recover and warm back up after digging themselves out (some were scratched and bruised, so clearly they caught some of it too). All the signs are there. Some of the hypothermia victims stripping from Paradoxical Undressing, some grabbing the discarded clothes in a desperate attempt to put on more clothes, someone trying to heat themselves back up to the point of literally burning themselves. These are all signs of reactions to freezing to death. The radiation is either faulty information or from some sort of unrelated source. Footprints in snow don't go anywhere if they're not disturbed by wind, animals, or falling snow. If it was so cold that all the animals were hibernating and it just wasn't snowing, those footprints could've been there for ages.
I have to say, this episode of ReactCAST is so far MY FAVORITE ever. I use to LOVE LOVE LOVE watching unsolved mysteries, i would watch it RELIGIOUSLY all the time, even reruns or episodes years later to see if any cases had been solved. I miss this show SO MUCH. and FYI the theme song IS NOT SCARY lol
Erin's Michigan story reminded me of the time I saw a red light at a great distance in the sky after work around 3 am. I remember thing jokingly about aliens but seriously thought it was probably military testing of something or other. I live near a couple of military bases.
The campers were students from a polytechnic university. They worked in a lab and thats why there was radiation on their clothes. It was said that it was a freak avalanche that started everything. They ran out of the tents hearing the noise, quickly got hypothermia, which actually makes you feel like your burning so that explains the lack of clothes and trying to warm up after that passes. The missing eyes and injures was just animal predation.
Just for safety accuracy ;) Yes, if you get wet/fall through ice, remove your clothes. If hypothermic, at a certain point, you'll WANT to, but DON'T! Resist the urge to strip lol. Only if wet!
For the Dyatlov Pass, avalanche(nearby) and they panicked. As for radiation, there are still missing RTGs from that era(I forget what the actual acronym stands for but it's something like Radioisotope thermal generator) that used radioactive substances to create heat and generate electricity.and several are still missing to this day. If they happened to be near one would explain the radiation exposure, and depending on the source, even explain why they randomly evacuated and ended up dying
3:53 i also solved that same mystery by also giving this Podcast five stars as well recently on Apple Podcasts ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️The ReactCast deserves more love.
I love the theory about Siberia that they found footprints, but have talked about 2 avalanches that covered these men and killed them. Then how were footprints still visible? James called it perfectly no way there would be footprints that long afterwards..... must be aliens lmao
Hey now, the oligarch didn't just fall out the window, he just happened to be standing in front of it when he shot himself in the back of the head 30 times LMAO
The true unsolved mystery is What happened to “A word from Anthony”? The ReactCast podcast use to have a bit called “A word from Anthony”. Where Anthony would give a word or message. It would always be at the end of each episode. One day an episode came out and there was no “A word from Anthony” at the end. We thought maybe he was sick and missed recording for that episode. But then it happened in the next episode and continues to be out of the newer episodes as well. Many believe it was removed from the podcast. Others think that Anthony just didn’t want to do the bit anymore and just stopped doing them. There is no true answer as far as I’m aware of.
I'll say you lost out on one great scene. Should've had Batman sitting at the table..... but maybe next time. If so a shout out would be so awesome. Lol
I love mystery stories, so that's a little different. As far as real life unsolved mysteries go, it depends what the circumstances are surrounding one are that can make it compelling to me.
The Dyatlov Pass incident was an orphan source of radiation. Some type of small, lost piece of an old soviet bomb or something that was lost out there but still giving out doses of radiation. The bodies in the creek that were found last were because of an avalanche - hence the car crash type injuries
Anyone have Nyleen Marshall,Bill Rundle,Kari Lynn Nixon segments with the Lifetime update at the end(blue background, update typed out, creepy theme music playing)?
The campers were students that worked in lab where their clothes picked up the radiation. They were also holding some kind of weapons testing not too far away the campers saw it from a distance
O.K.....All you needed was a Great Dane and you could've been your own version of Mystery Inc.. You can decide who was Shaggy and who was Fred. I can't decide.
The audio is kind of quiet on this episode. I've got it cranked and it still has moments when I can't hear what they're saying. Then when an ad starts playing the audio is blasting out my speakers.
They need a sound tech person. Joe’s voice is in a lower register than the guests. I was listening to it in my car and had to crank up the volume when Joe was talking.
Swanson wondered in the wrong land and got caught in a man made trap or got knocked over the head. There was no reason to go looking for him cuz he was already pig slop
There was a 10th person who wasn't registered. He (possibly she) was KGB and testing various concoctions on the 8 yoots and 1 oldie to see what happens. They found out what happens and then covered it up in this psuedo mystery.
I am now convinced the answer is always aliens

James and Elyse are the best duo on youtube. We love them
I watched James and Elyse on Funhaus for many many years, and I've been a fan of Erin since 2020. This is like my DC vs Marvel crossover event.

I love Elyse’s style so much, her clothes suit her so well. I’ve wanted to raid her closet for years

Elyse bringing the mustache energy as always
Unsolved Mysteries theme is a spooky one but the undisputed Champion of creepy and spooky themes is the intro theme to TALES FROM THE DARK SIDE.
Happy Birthday, Joe.
Love Erin’s haircut! So cute. 😍
Elyse James Erin & Joe solving mysteries? I love it!

Gotta love those unsolved mysteries.
And I LOVE that James is wearing his Portillo Kinda Funny shirt!!

"My brain is always tingling!"
I hope it's not an aneurysm! Yeah, I know that's a dark joke, but I had to go there! 🤪
Awesome get-ups.🧐Plachy, my king. 🙌

Was going to mention no song, then Joe recovered. 😊

Yess... This podcast is aired now 💙🔝💯
My Grandma always called it a chicken eye…. Because when. You poke it…… 🐔 you sound like one
Fun episode and fun to see people with the same last name as me
Priest! Do they do that in the movie theater every time there's a priest in a movie? 🤣🤣
The Michigan phenomena sounds like the Northern Lights to me. It’s a bit far south for it, but’s not impossible
I've heard of chocolate starfish, but dirt star?? 🤨

Why did the rescue team or investigators know to look for radioactivity? Did the rescue team get radiation?
The campers were students that worked in lab where their clothes picked up the radiation. They were also holding some kind of weapons testing not too far away the campers saw it from a distance

The river water could contain radioactive minerals
Another good theme song

Brandon Swanson was killed by the smiley face killers.
I haven't heard a word from Anthony in the latest episodes. 😢
Right!!! 😢
