At least in Azshara's case she was naturally power-hungry and didn't need to be corrupted by an outside force, the legion was a source of infinite power and she was drawn to it.
Not much of a WoW player myself, but the few months I tried the game Feralas is probably my favorite zone (at least visually) and I do love the Dire Maul run.
I always hoped that one day we get to have the full dungeon exposed to the open world, just like Zul'Farrak in Tanaris. I also kinda wished Dire Maul being restored as a sort of neutral pseudo city that has many refugee Nightelves calling it home. This restored Dire Maul could have a tunnel built to not just connect Dire Maul to Mulgor, but also have an open trade route with the Mulgore settlements, and also help with the resoration and safety of the southern peninsula of Mulgor. But this is all fantasy that will never happen
