I appreciate your honestly in your commentary. I have only been attempting to paint for about a year. I have been buying wrecked motorcycles and fixing them as a hobby, then I donate them to veterans charities. This winter I decided to try to custom paint a tank and fenders on an Indian Scout. I am learning a TON and really enjoying a new challenge, your channel has been super helpful.
You can do it!
If I can add an old school tip, you can add a little bronzing powder in your glue that won't affect the leaf, but you'll be able to see where you sprayed the glue.
Love your videos man. I'm a visual learner so being able to watch you go through the steps and explain is awesome.

I've been painting on and off for 15yrs, recently got into pin stripe and leaf. I'd agree leafing is one of the most delicate and tricky effects... I live your videos, thanks for making them.

a cork with some toothpaste on the end makes wonderful swirls in leaf

Except for airbrushing leather and fabric for about 5 years, I've never painted graphics on a hard surface. I think I'll practice on a piece of glass that way it can be cleaned off easily with a blade so I can practice again. I'll probably try it on bottles to figure out how to spin it on tubing. I'll probably end up experimenting like I did with my leather. I'll be trying some sizing on a pinstripe brush for sure.🖌

I got everything about a week ago. I have yet to get all of them right. It’s 50 /50. I need practice for sure. Good thing the good is cheap
Yep 50-50 with water on the sizing glue make sure you spray it lightly so it doesn’t beat up and create a texture
I know this is old dry times from other videos are about 3 minutes at times and the leaf comes cut. Great product

gold n silver leafing is my weakness . definitely not as easy as it seems. a few wins and losses. the temp and humidity always throws off my timing

May I suggest that, when you use the roller to hug it tighter. Consider using a piece of the paper the gold came on.. Just a suggestion. Other than that. GREAT videoes! You have an awesome talent!

@@TimeWarpCustomPaint More cleanly written, just ue the paper as a layer in between. Paper will scratch theheck out of the gold. But paper as a between sheet and then roll. Gold and siler is so thin that, one may not be able to see it, but it eats quiet a lot of it. Good day to you!

wondering if the createx candy you sell on amazon is all good to spray over a ppg brand base and clears? Also do you know if HOK candy would be compatible with other types of bases? thanks for the info, im learning a lot from your videos!
Yes house of kolor and creatx is okay with other brands, as long as you’re not mixing them together.
spin it will break the silver leaf，Is it because the silver leaf is too thin?
ive been custom painting guitars for 20yrs doing the gilding thng not to long but i will say this the leafing or metal that you get from the craft store kinda sucks along with thier sizing or glue. i am building a miniture 70 firebird dash for my brother with gauge fronts and all iam gonna install a clock but his dash on his firebird was a 400 dash so it was engine turned alum but iam thinking of doing chrome foil vinyl and turn it but have found out not the esiest thing to do and it fiol not vinyl its foil w adhesive, but not maybe i should just buy a 4ft long piece already done. lol

@@TimeWarpCustomPaint too smooth huh? I was thinking if it was done on a sandblasted surface, the texture might come through enough for the powder coat to stick 🤔
