- Say hello to the brand new 16" CS1610E chainsaw from EGO! Josh unboxes this brand new chainsaw and puts it to the test. This chainsaw is built to be put through its paces. Cut through logs up to 40cm in width like butter and stay in control with bumper spikes to keep you moving in the right direction - the 20 m/s chain speed will take care of the rest. The 5.0Ah battery which is provided in the chainsaw kit version will allow you to make up to 300 cuts on a single charge.

❤’d the EGO Chainsaw compare and contrast. Can’t wait to get one in my arsenal of excellent EGO products.
EGO and other battery powered equipment like it really are the future. I was a little nervous at first switching to EGO equipment but they make high quality products with amazing batteries. Worrying about oil, gas, and all that other maintenance is such a pain. The great thing about EGO is it is grab a go so you can just get the job done (yes, I know the EGO chainsaw take oil but it is still a lot easier to maintain then a gas chainsaw).
Am going to definitely make a purchase of the newly upgraded ego 16" saw. Thank you for explaining the upgrades! Love your channel
I'm impressed with the performance and capacity of that battery. 300 cuts later and still has charge. Wow!
We were surprised as you 🤩
Got mine last week, absolutely love it... Cuts great 👍🏼
Glad you’re pleased with it Joshua 😎
hi guys love the videos and all the reviews you do keep up the good videos
EGO needs to make a commercial saw. This saw will not handle constant use. Rolling around in the back of a pickup. Great saw for the average homeowner. No mixing of gas, no dead gas, and no broken recoil ropes. I purchased a used one from an individual who had damaged it. The adjuster had been lodged back in the saw. No washers were installed with the adjuster screw. Not sure if he did it, or a factory issue. I haven't found any parts for the adjuster yet.
Great video, provided exactly the information that I wanted, in a concise clear manner.
Awesome, cheers Bryan 😎
Can't wait to buy me one of these saws. Y'all do great on your reviews keep it up!!
Thank you Bradley 🤩
Congrats Geoff, Nice bit of kit and it sorted that lot with ease.
Thank you Neil 😎
Thanks!
Great video!!!
I just bought an EGO strimmer and love it, I will buy definitly more of EGO.
Great demo of the saw
This is the one tool that I need to replace this year. Very welcome news. Great share! 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you Marquis 🤩
Great review!
Great saw and demo! 👍🏻
Thank you Catcha 😎
Nice One Josh Thanks again
Thank you Darren 😎
Brilliant chainsaw
Very impressed!!!!
Thank you Jacob 🥳
Wow, that's better than I expected 👍😃
It certainly is a surprising little saw 😎
Great video, very well done. Thanks.
Thank you 👍🏼
Cheers fellas for the prize, top video as always 👌
Really impressed with that demonstration cuts really good thank you for the information
Cheers Nev 🤩
I have the old one and will cut through trees twice the bar length I go down one side then the othe there brilliant. If the new one is better then wow 👌
Wow, that's awesome. What a saw.
It sure is! 😀
Good video. I still have the husqvarna battery top saw I bought from you guys but thinking of getting the new 16" or the 18" ego chainsaw at some point
Great video 👍
Thank you Kevin 🤩
I have the 14 inch newer version, and I love it.
i am impressed
Thank you Tim 😎
powerful bit off kit great video
It sure is!
Very good demonstration of that saw. I just would not be able to give up the (manly) feel, smell and power of my other saws that I use regularly haha. Well done over there boys.
I know exactly what you mean Andrew, we love petrol saws. Interestingly after the storm the other day I felled those conifers and chopped them up, for the most part I used a petrol saw but when it came to dragging all the rubbish out and the final bits I used a battery saw as it was far easier to just grab and use 🤩
Really nice chainsaw for doing big jobs like that better next time for the next video finger crossed 🤞🏼
Thanks Andrew 👍🏼
Great video! One thing I would like to note for fellow US viewers, the American version of the kit comes with a 2.5 Ah (instead of 5 Ah in this video) and their slowest charger (Model #CS1611). That battery is not sufficient to run this tool IMO.
I am going to go with the tool only version (Model #CS1610)
EGO also now offers the CS1613 in the US with a 4.0Ah battery. Still not the 5Ah, but probably a good fit for the saw.
Thanks for the review! I've got 2 Husqvarna 346 xp, and I'm looking to add an electric for ease of use for small projects. This is very intriguing!
No worries, the Husqvarna 346xp was the best saw ever made! Thank you for Subscribing 👍🏼
Kev in Ireland here looks great I'm still a bit scared about about battery but it looks like a great bit of kit kit keep up the good work
Thank you Kev 👍🏼
I'm kinda impressed with the performance and I've never cared much for the battery saws. Nice review Josh. 👍
Thank you John, it’s amazing how much better they are getting all the time 🤩
Yes it is 🙂👍🏼
Good channel. especially for us business owners
Thank you Dagtail 🤩
Nice looking saws and do the job too
Thank you edward 🤩
Nice saw
Thank you David 😃
I have the E Go 16” chainsaw. The older model. 1600? It’s a darn fine chainsaw. Battery technology is amazing! It runs and cuts right with my buddy’s gas saw.
Thank you buckeye 😎
They look amazing Change Saws guys
Thank You Mark and thank you so much for becoming one of our first channel members 🤩
Good
Nice
Thank you Jeff 🤩
I don't see a updated 18" model on the website. I wonder if the 16" can be upgraded to the 18" bar or if there was a reason they didn't.
I just recently discovered your channel and it's pretty sweet stuff (content). I'm on the search for a cordless chainsaw, but seeings I now own a house with a yard, there are tons of other stuff that are starting to interest me. But for now, I'll get the chainsaw. My use is for tossing in the 4X4 and clearing trails. Would be good for wood stove though (I have a gas chainsaw ad well). But I have a question (maybe you could answer honestly!?). If you had to use your own money, which cordless chainsaw would you guys buy? Maybe that's an episode. Each person may be different, so it would be interesting to hear which you would buy. I've narrowed it down to a Makita. Partly cuz I'm in a small town and that's one of the brands we can get. The other, is we use Makita at work (mining) and we aren't very nice to them sometimes, and their still going. (Other brands have come and gone). But I'd be curious as to your picks. ... I'll never be part of the giveaway, as I'm in Canada, so the comment is a legit question. Hee hee
I am impressed by the stihl msa 220 but they are bringing out the new upgraded version running a 325 chain with a 500s battery. Would love to see that.
Stay tuned 😉
@HayesMachinery Not sure I can justify an 8th chainsaw the 7th took some convincing of my better half.
@@fibreguy1971 needs must 😂😂
It's fun cutting all the wood it's the clearing up I don't enjoy 😂
Oh I here you Gary, never the fun job’
But Gary you have a soppy bolloxs for that 😉
EGO Chainsaw got some bite but i would of thought it be heavy with battery in it good video
No heavier than a petrol equivalent, thanks Sparky 👍🏼
Looking to buy soon….the new 16” or the 18”. I do cut bigger wood but is the new 16” better overall or are they the same saw ie the new 16” vs the 18”?
Surprise with power of saw compared to gas saw great video
Very impressive 🤩
I bought the 18 inch saw which was fantastic but I had three battery fails within a year, including the replacement battery. The latest generation batteries have known issues and I've been told by a big name reseller agency that EGO changed the brand of battery cell. Sadly, EGO customer service in Australia is not great. I ended up selling my EGO saw and other equipment, as much as I loved it. What's the use of great equipment if the batteries are below par? I've moved to another well known saw brand and have had no battery issues at all. PS: my reseller agent told me that quite a few customers were having EGO battery fails .
Could have done with one of those recently. Impressive
Get prepared for the next time Roy 😂😂
@@MachineryNation I live in Portugal so not so easy to order from UK after Brexit. Postal taxes here are complicated and extend delivery by two/three weeks sometimes, with the additional costs of processing. Sad !!
Ego needs a 20” 55-60 cc equivalent saw to cut the big stuff. Then gas die hards would start switching over to battery.
I can see them doing that any time now since deWalt has one
Not only Dewalt but also Stihl and Greenworks will be coming out with 20 in models.
thats what im waiting on a 55 to 60. i can run smaller bars when i want to. an i want log hooks ot help hook and cut. like stihl, echo ect..
Amazing give aways
Thank you 🤩
I really like the new one. I don’t know if it’s because I’m in Canada, but the new one comes with a 2.5ah battery for some reason. Which I don’t think is enough. It’s also available with a 4ah? And that configuration isn’t available anyway. That’s their very old battery. I’m confused by what they’re thinking here. Nothing to do with you though. Great video with good info
I believe the 18” has limited power on a 2.5ah battery. Too much current for the cells. This saw is available in my area, but with the 2.5ah battery instead of the 5ah battery you have? Do you know if they limit power/speed with the smaller battery or just less cuts?
How is it compared with their 18" model?
Fantastic overview! I'm trying to find the 1614E you 1st opened with the 5ah battery and rapid charger. The only package I can find here in the US is a package with 4ah battery and regular (not rapid) charger. Any idea if EGO discontinued the package w/ 5ah battery & rapid charger? I checked your store and see that you have the 1614E kit with 5ah battery and rapid charger in stock, but I can't find this same package in the US. Can you share the manufacturer item number for the 1614E kit so I can contact EGO directly to inquire about this. Does EGO like folks in the UK better? It appears so! Thanks in advance for any information you can share on the general availability of the 1614E Kit w/ 5ah batt/rapid charger.
Me likey very much
Thank you Busa 👍🏼
Amazing torque - it hardly dropped in RPM in the big log.
Impressive hey Claus 🤩
How do you feel it compares to the 18 inch model that’s been out? I was considering the 18 inch just for the shear power as opposed to the older 16 inch. Didn’t really care for the extra 2 inches but I wanted the higher rpm’s/torque. Now I don’t know which one to buy, the new 16 or the 18…?!🧐
16 now has the fastest chain speed 👍🏼
@@MachineryNation I truly appreciate the response! That makes it easy for me now ✊🏽
Can it take the same 10Ah battery as the EGO Z6 zero turn mower or is the 5Ah battery supplied different?
Yes it can take the same batteries as the whole Ego range. The only issue you will find with using the 10Ah is the weight using with a chainsaw. The good news is that the 5ah will also work in the mower 👍🏼
How long does the battery last and how long does it take to recharge? Does the saw have overheat protection or load protection if you hit nails or metal spikes or hard wood knots?
It depends which batteries you use. EGO produce a table to say how long the batteries last for and how long they take to
Charge 👍🏼
I have the 18" doesnt have the power to drive through logs and sticks quite often when cutting trees, no good for loging, good for liming and pruning.
Spare ur time and get a fuel saw.
Can a smaller bar size be installed on this EGO chainsaw? A 12" maybe?
Yeah 👍🏼
I'd like to see a 20" model
That would be awesome! How about 28? 😂
How does it compare with the msa220 or the 540ixp would good to see a time cut with these saws
Yes that would be a great test 🤩
@@MachineryNation yes it would be good for sue to do the test she made such a good job on the last chainsaw video 👌
Thanks for the review. I didn't realize there was a new version and bought the older one. For some reason it's more expensive than the new one. (30 USD more). Is the new one much better? Deciding if I should swap them out.
I'm here to compare them.
What model did you buy?
Few minor upgrades but it's the motor compared to some of the old models only spun at 13ms and this one spins at 20ms.
The old 1800e spun at 20ms so not much of an upgrade
@@Regan9415 great thanks! I got the EGO Power+ CS1604 16 in. 56 V Battery. I think the extra cost may be for the extra battery size.
@@JW-fh1en your saw isnt a 20ms saw, meaning your chain spins slower than the new model
The new model is absolutely better! I've tried both 👍🏻
Can’t find this one with the 5a battery, only the 2.5. Any idea where I can pick one up?
We have them on our website www.hayesmachinery.co.uk as a kit CS1614e
Not the prettiest of chainsaws, highly effective though. It certainly zipped through the larger log, how many cuts like that do you think you’d get to a charge? Has anyone tried snedding with a battery saw, how do they stand up to that ?
Snedding would be a great test Al. I haven’t personally used it for that. Depending on the wood we recon about 200-400 cuts on a 5ah battery 👍🏼
Nice comparison! I have the old version, but I’m considering an upgrade. Does the new one still leak oil from the reservoir during storage, or has that been resolved or improved? Does the saw need to stored in a particular orientation to avoid the chain oil leaking out? Thank you!
Thank you, we’ve never really had any issues with leaking bar oil over any other saw if I’m honest. Good general practice would be crack open the oil cap prior to storage, to allow any pressure or heat to escape. Try this it may help!
i dont like how it dont have log hooks, hopefully they will add that. i love my ego line iq weed eater.
I never thought I would see the camera man get his hands dirty!
Nor did he hhahahah
Dear Santa…
I have bought the older version at Ace with no directions . I was looking for video of that 16" CS1604 EGO Chainsaw. No help at all!
Sorry 🙃
Is this stronger then their 18” or about the same?
It has the same chain speed as the 18” at 20m/s 👍🏼
Title says cs1614 is new on, you say cs1610 is new one. Which is the new model?
They are both the same saw. The CS1610 is tool only and the CS1614 is the kit with battery and charger. Hope this helps 👍🏼
@@MachineryNation Thank you!
I've been looking at the new 16".. What's weird is they list the motor speed the same as the old 16" but it has faster chain speed... Can you confirm these specs somehow?
Check out our website Steven hayesmachinery.co.uk
@@MachineryNation thanks, but I'm not asking what EGO says is the spec, I'm asking if you can verify them somehow.. Unless there is some type of gear drive train somewhere, the two cannot be different can they?
@@stevenlilly do you mean the motor wattage, RPM or MPS?
@@MachineryNation I've seen where specs show the new 16" to have a 6800 RPM motor and also says 20 m/s chainspeed.. Those two things don't make sense if the 18" has the same chainspeed but a much faster 11000 RPM motor speed.. I'm suspect that the motor RPM for the new 16" has been copied over and is bad info...
When will the new model be available in the USA?
I thought it was, but stock maybe low.
@@MachineryNation the website shows a 1611 not a 1610…im confused
Whats the chance this is the same motor as the 18" ego? Ego rates this saw at 2.3hp but uses watts rating for the 18" (550 watts) i know they say 40cc equivalent for the new 16" and 45cc for the 18".
With each having the same
20 m/s chain speed you would think the new 16" uses the same motor as the 18". Wouldn't seem cost effective to make two different motors so close to the same specs as far as the 40 and 45cc equivalent. Could this just be marketing?
Personal I like a 16" bar better and I'd trade the new oil cap design for the LED light if the cutting speed was the same. Plus the new 16" just look less of a toy than the 18"
How much
I really wanted to love ego but bought the chainsaw and it died within a week. Never even heard from ego so just got my money back and went for the Dewalt
That’s a shame Craig, every now and again you get the odd faulty machine right out the box from all brands. We see it regularly from small brands right up to the big guys in our dealership. Nicknamed “A Friday Afternoon Machine”
@@MachineryNation it is never that something fails, these things happen. It is the service the company provides to rectify. I am considering giving Ego a second go for outdoor equipment. PS. Love your channel.
what's the cost?
Check it out on www.hayesmachinery.co.uk
USA sc
Try cutting hard wood they don’t like it.
This guy has no EGO tattoos. I made a specific request. You have failed me.
His Ego is big enough already 😂😂
