    back in 1969, I got into a car accident and my jaw was broken in 3 places. After the surgery, I got back into the ICU bed and asked what was under the plastic covered machine and was told it was sucking a construction in my windpipe after my neck was opened - I said I would avoid choking. I was OK for the wired mouth for the 2 or so months. This device should have be standard next to the semi-public heart shocker. I've seen the heart shocker in fancy restaurants.

      No, air escapes out a vent when you push down so no air is forced down the airway. Then when the plunger is all the way down, pulling up on the plunger will cause anything that is stuck in the airway and help it expel. No need to push down all the way first (you can, but it's not necessary).

    • @lisahoinke824
      @lisahoinke824 7 месяцев назад

      I just watched a different video that addressed both these questions. As far as facial hair goes, he said yes, it can make it more difficult but it's not impossible. Depends on length of beard and one's ability to create a sufficient seal. I cannot remember exactly how he phrased it about the question of air pushing the object further in, but short answer is no it doesn't. The yellow part is vented and the air doesn't get pushed into the mouth. I just bought this device and it's hard to explain, but if you see it, you will understand what I mean.

      I imagine having a hard tube to keep the mouth open so you can plunge against a closed mouth, as you wrote, would be difficult to place properly over the casualty's face. Besides, you want the patient to keep their mouth open rather than their mouth being closed, so the suction device can pull the obstruction up and out of the mouth and throat.
      The more cumbersome and more difficult that things like this are, limit their effectiveness. This has a simple design which is easy to operate, hence its success.

    From the demonstration the person in the wheelchair will probably die from a BROKEN NECK (3.38 & 3.52) and not the foreign body/object in their airway! 🤨

    I just got this for use on myself in an emergency and testing it as they say to on a flat surface. I can’t even get the thing to collapse let alone pulling it up to suction out something.

    Wouldn’t pushing down on the device advance the food or whatever it is that they are choking on further into the trachea before it gets pulled out ? Risk limiting the chances if it getting pulled out?

      It appears to have a one way valve to prevent this.

      As jerry said, it’s a one way valve. Your heart actually has them to prevent back-flow, it’s just a flap that allows air to flow one way. The video also said that so perhaps pay more attention lol.

      No additional air is introduced into the airway, which prevents this from occurring

    Couldn’t pushing down on the device before pulling up force the obstruction even further into the trachea?

    • @lifevacusa
      @lifevacusa  2 года назад +2

      Good question. No, the LifeVac device will not push any air into the airway. There is a patented valve that releases the air outside of the device when you push down. Check out the animation on our home page lifevac.net

    Unfortunate truth is. $69 is expensive for many many people. Single mothers, single father. The device probably cost $1 to make too

    Depressing the vac before the pull seems like it would push the foreign object down the blocked airway further.

    Could it damage lungs ?

    • @gunlover5564
      @gunlover5564 2 года назад +1

      Now let’s think about this for a minute. Whatever is obstructing the airway isn’t allowing air to enter the lungs. You’re trying to eject the foreign obstruction. It won’t hurt the lungs . In emergencies you either fix the airway or they die. Period. Lungs will heal.

    Does it push air in that could possibly push the cause further in? Or is this just wasting time for the heimlich? Should you start heimlich first and if that doesn't work should you use this or go straight to CPR as training tells you?

    • @lifevacusa
      @lifevacusa  2 года назад +3

      No, the LifeVac device does not push any air into the airway. There is a valve that pushes the air outside of the device. There is a 3D video on our homepage here lifevac.net that shows how it works. You are correct about the Heimlich. Start choking rescue protocol first while someone else gets the LifeVac. If the Heimlich fails, then proceed to use the LifeVac. We have many reports where the Heimlich fails and then after Lifevac is used it saves their life. Also, some people due to their size are not able to be rescued using the Heimlich. We received a report of this not too long ago. Here is the news article: lifevac.net/good-samaritan-saves-man-from-choking-with-lifevac-393/

    • @Yuneed2no
      @Yuneed2no 2 года назад

      @@lifevacusa even people of smaller size can perform the heimlich, just need to take a free or very cheap lesson. Pretty much every video I've seen of your product shows people who do not know how to perform basic life saving techniques. Maybe you guys should really push that point because even this lifevac isn't fail safe. ❤️ It would be awesome if you guys actually made a video of basic life saving techniques prior to using your product.
