Yes some men become very grumpy as they age! But you definitely need space. We downsized to an apartment. It took us ages to get used to it.
We live in Ireland and try and spent time in Spain for nice weather.

Just found your channel and so glad I did! My husband and I own our business and are hoping to sell by year end. My husband is having a real problem with what his new identity be.

Look for our episodes on identity in retirement. They might be helpful.

My husband always luv'd yard sales & estate sales. About 6 yrs ago he started getting storage units that were up for sale & converted that into a business of reselling. Mostly at flea markets every Saturday. Perfect for us. ... Thanks for all your direction. ... Glenda

I wanted to follow up with you about Pickleball--I did take a clinic. And it was so much fun. I played tennis in college in my 20's and 30's, so it was a little easier for me, except for the scoring!

Thank you both for letting us know. We love that you can learn so fast then just keep trying to be better. But plenty of room in this gave for beginners. And the social aspect is great too.

I asked myself a different question - what do I want to be when I grow up? I raised a family, retired from a demanding and exciting job; now what do I want to be? Well I tried a few hobbies, rescued a couple dogs, and 4 birds. The dogs have passed but I remain a flocked Mom. I'm with family at least once a week. There are a few road trips in my future which puts 'work' on hold for now. Thanks for encouraging people to put the fun factor into retirement 😁

Huh...I retired and never woulda thunk about creating a "new identity". Dang...missed out on that one.

Your distinction of leaving the career work as retiring and then choosing to work or volunteer is right on. Go have fun doing something different, if you don’t want to be tied down, volunteer.

@Janet Kenny that is exactly what we do. We do RUclips as retirees and we volunteer.
