Nancy Wilson was inspired by a jazz singer named Little Jimmy Scott. Little Jimmy Scott was unique because of his vocal phrasing. And many people who heard him sing thought it was a woman!
If you haven't seen the youtube vid of Regina showing up at Anita Bakers Atlanta concert 3 or so yrs ago, you should watch it. I always thought the two of them sounded similar and both did pop 80's jazz like perfection. I had no idea that they were friends and how much respect that they seem to have for one another. And....they sound amazing together add libbing and having a blast on stage. It made me so happy to see it.
