About the lack of peach or pink in the skin...so true. If people have frequently asked you if you don’t feel well or you’re tired, you might have an olive undertone.
I was actually amazed when you toned down Mila's yellow/gold top. What you said about seeing her and not the top just made perfect sense. This is the best video on warm olive skin I have found and all the color examples have made so much sense for me! I love that you demonstrate colors to avoid and how you describe if a color looks apart or separate from the skin tone. You have a great eye for color and I imagine you are a very talented stylist.
Merriam referring Mila's 'not so best colors' as friends luring her into toxic relationships is hilarious. That's some serious quarantine inner discourse, Mila!😂💓
Dialogue between the colours and the girls was seriously hilarious. However, very good analogy, it helped me understand. I'm a social butterfly, except, i don't really like people 🤣
So helpful! Not enough olive representation in the beauty space! Its hard being green 🤓 👽 also, green pigment drops can work better than a green primer! I like temper’s liquid drops!
Cool olive version would be amazing to see too. My mom is one, and most colors make her skin seem utterly lifeless. She mainly dresses in muted greys 'cause "at least grey doesn't clash super bad". She kinda ends up looking mousy 'cause of it. Would be amazing to be able to give her some tips :)
@@merriamstyle I definitely agree with cool and delicate! She does have a very clear green tint to her skin tho, so idk if that matters...? E.g. muted pink blush kinda sits on top of her skin instead of blending in it, 'cause the skin is pretty much muted grey+green. She avoids all pinks 'cause of it. Maybe it'd be different if the colors were on the clothes vs. in make up..?

Bright colours look great on me but so do olive ones, I think I’m a cool olive skin tone because when I put a cool pink foundation on then my neck looks more green than usual, but with a cool olive foundation on it blends well with my neck
One of my best friends just told me I have an olive skin tone and I was like WHAT? I'M FAIR AS HELL. HOW? This explains SO MUCH. I was already kind of on track with redoing my wardrobe in these colours, so I feel SO MUCH BETTER after seeing this. Thank you!!
Very interesting the theory of our "best/not so best friend colours" ... So true, colours we wear "speak" for us and when they speak friendly, it makes the difference. Nice topic Meriam🤗🤗 Happy Easter from Italy!
Could you touch on what hair colors look best on warm olives and cool olives? Your video finally helped me realize that I have olive skin. I typically have blonde highlights but dyed it dark thinking it would compliment my skin color better. I lightened it again but it still looks off 🥴 I’m at a complete loss as to whether to go light or dark, and cool or warm….
Finally!!! In the winter I get really pale and am often “paler” than my pink undertone friends since, meh they just have a lot of pink very prominent in their faces, but in the summer I love being outside and get really tan, so much so that my friends think I’ve sometimes gotten a really dark spray tan lol
Cool olive here. What I do is that I use tons (and I mean TONS) of blush. It’s not perfect though as my face sometimes doesn’t really match the body 😂 I would definitely appreciate video on cool olive (I enjoyed this one as well). ☺️
My problem with trying to categorize people into seasons is that there are ALWAYS exceptions and there is ALWAYS an exception for each individual person. I think everyone can rock 1 super bold bright color regardless of their skin tone. What I LOVE about your Channel is that you are the ONLY person on RUclips who I hear referring to Olive skintones as NOT EXCLUSIVELY COOL! or Neutral. Olive is right on the axis of Warm and Cool. So naturally, Olive can be warm or cool. SO saying everyone with Olive Skin tone is a COOL skin tone and then also saying that Olive is a GREAT color for people who are warm and delicate because it is a WARM color makes NO SENSE and directly contradicts itself. I hear this SO often on other channels. Thank you for explaining to the public that Olive can lean warm OR cool!
Wish I could show this video to some makeup assistants at the makeup aisles in stores, I was called porcelain skin yesterday, even though I told the woman I was pale olive right in the beginning of the “consultation”, it’s like they don’t believe me, because I am so pale and the only category they can think of is porcelain whereas I have complete lack of pink in my skin, and look green and ashy at best or yellowish, they just ignore what you say when you are very pale, as olive is automatically being associated with a tan colour.
I understand the struggle. They always push pink foundation or peach. I'm hoping to get muted makeup that might actually match my neck as my current foundation powder in my profile picture is definitely the wrong tone. 😅
God bless you. I used to hate makeup because none the colors I had at my disposal ever suited me. I recently started learning and gave all of this a second shot, and you just poured hope into my life 😂
Merriam, I absolutely love all your videos! I love the sound of your voice and could easily listen to you talk all day. Your personification of the colors makes this one of my favorite videos by you! Genius. Thank you again!
As a warm and deliicate olive undertone with dark brown hair and eyes, my best colors are : - all Olive colors - Deep browns - Warm browns - Reds : from true red to dark red - Burgundy and maroon - light Brown - Muted oranges My ok colors : -Dark and Muted yellows (that are actually close to olive ) - Cream, beige, ivory.. - warm greys - Dark greys - Black - Muted dark blue - Yellowish green - Muted warm pink - Vine My worst colors : - Any blue that is not muted or very dark - Any pastel color - Cool purples - Emerald green
Absolutely agree :D does your colour scheme also change drastically when you get tanned in summer? I have 2 completely different wardrobes and I don't know anyone else like that
@@lemmings6516 i look kinda neutral in photos , devoid of my yellow tinge and sometimes i look slightly pink too while in real life, i look pale yellow 😑... I have a cool olive skin but can't decide whether radiant or muted....
This is super helpful. I definitely have an olive tone and lean more warm in the summer and more grey in the winter. I've also found that my skin almost matches some rose gold, where it's not too warm but not too cool,. However, most of the colors in my wardrobe are grey and tend to wash me out. I'll be looking into more of these warm muted tones.
OMG. That's my skin tone. Right there. And it's so funny that many of my choices tend to kind of mirror her recommendations... I feel like I've intuitively learned to pick products, such as blushes and scarves, that go in this direction. So cool to understand the 'why' behind it all.
I'm sure that I'm Warm and Muted, but what about an olive undertone with rosacea? I have a lot of red on my face, but it feels "superficial". Blonde hair and yellow gold make me look gray. The problem is, even with foundation, peach and warm red lipsticks make me look like a clown; my best bright lipsticks are M.A.C. All Fired Up and M.A.C. Red (cool fuchsia and raspberry). I still can't decide which color I am underneath my rosacea.
That's a puzzle! I'm also WD pale olive, though not with rosacea. When I work out a lot (so I'm redder) I look good with a sheer cool muted red lip, like mauve-y berry or spiced wine-red (both sheered out). They look good all the time but seem particularly suited then. That, and neutral cool-brown eyeshadow with champagne shimmer. When I'm at rest (no extra red), peach lipsticks still look awful, FWIW. Bright red-orange is... doable, but it's a "lewk." Not easy to wear. Both shades are simply too bright and orange-y for me. My olive WD alternative to peach-nude is a sheer neutral light brown with golden champagne shimmer (just the sheer light brown works too). I have a few lipsticks that look peachy or pinky, but they just look neutral brown in the tube. Instead of red-orange or tomato red, rust-red is much much better. Rust red with a warm shimmer is so wearable.
If you haven't before I'd highly recommend trying to match to your neck, I have redness as an olive and this helped me a lot :) And omg blonde and gold me look gray too, sadly blonde is my natural color lmaoo
Warm and muted, pale olive skintype with rosacea here! I look best in brown, beige and olive. For lipstick soft brown or dusky pink work best. If I am wearing these colours, my face looks like it has less redness.
Wow finally this is what I've been looking for..! Your analysis is simply another level and I love how soft spoken you are. Now I'm confirmed that I'm a light olive! Thanks Merriam for this great and loving video
I've been waiting so long for this topic, thanks ! But what about the best hair colors for light warm olive skin ? I love dying my hair with henna but not sure it suits me so well... 😘 from france !
Thank you for this! I finally understand that I’m not just a light olive skin tone but a warm/leaning neutral tone like Mila. Need to go through my wardrobe one last time!
You look so lovely here Merriam! Love your hair like this. Thanks for putting out such great content! You're basically the only person I take body or colour advice from anymore because it just makes sense
Thank you for this video! There are even lighter olives. There are blue and Green eyed olives. However this is a great video! I find olive is a whole different animal. That icy pink is my worst color! Faded pinky mauve makes me look like I expired last week. Very white and very black don’t work either. I have a lot more yellow than Lila (but green is my undertone) Thanks so much for doing a light olive!❤️.
Yes! I'm pale with green eyes and warm olive. There's never anything quite for my tone. 😭 I don't think I'm muted, but cool jewel tones and pastels like icy lavender or blue are the absolute worst for me.
Omg! Finally someone said it! Everything you said in regards to Mila is spot on for me 😀 From my own trial and error I've discovered that. The jewelry color has always been an issue for me. Guess I'll check out rose gold 🧡 Even holding my skin up to the screen as you went through the colors I could see the difference
Oh yes, I've been waiting for this.. I was pretty sure I was soft warm but couldn't understand why a lot of considered soft warm colors looked too warm on me, even some cool colours look better like charcoal Grey than mustard for example. I also see this in makeup, warm blush/lipstick/foundation looks toooo warm on my olive pale skin.
Really enjoyed this video and info! SidraM is so right friends vs frenemies was great. I'm a medium olive thats cool nearly neutral. Could you please do an example of all olive spectrums since we are definitely the trickiest of the skin tones in my opinion? For years I thought I was warm and sheesh! The make-up and colors I selected for me. Ugh! Thank for sharing!
Hi Merriam, Thank you so much for this video!! I am almost 60 and have always thought I was cool toned because I'm olive and looked horrible in very warm and bright colors. Finally, I experimented with soft colors closer to neutral and BINGO!!! I love those warm colors on me ! So much better than the soft and cool colors. I wish the color analysis industry would stop telling people olive skin is always cool because it is simply not true.
Please, could you do the same with cool olive skin tone? I'm specially interested in the makeup part since I always find choosing makeup colours more difficult than clothing. (Don't ask me why lol). Complexion colours like blush or bronzers and NUDE LIPSTICKS are my primary concern for sure. Thanks before hand and congratulations for all your work. You are amazing!
I've never related so hard to a video like this in my life... It explains so much, I knew I was olive, but I couldn't tell if I was a neutral or warm, but I think I know now, btw my skin tone is exactly like the lady you used in this video
You know, in the video I noticed that silver or gold didn't look bad, but didn't necessarily work for me, but when I tried rose gold and bronze it made my skin glow, her colors work perfectly for me and the makeup you suggested also works perfectly; I always believed the cool undertone, golden overtone thing until I watched your videos and it changed my perspective entirely cause my sister is a normal neutral/cool, but when I compared my skin to her I had a lot of green and she had a lot more pink than me. I can only see the green when I compare my skin to another fair girl like me. I love your videos and they helped me out so so so much, since I was totally lost after I figured out I have olive skin about a year ago.
I love how all of the fashion you tubers have simultaneously decided to use Mila Kunis, and a few others, it makes it a lot easier to make decisions for myself 😂😂❤️❤️❤️
This video is SO GOOD. This is my exact skin tone. And I notice I gravitate toward the “frenemy” colors, but they never end up flattering me. I have to tell myself to stop trying to make royal blue happen. It’s not going to happen.
Fabulous!! Thank you Merriam! All those colors look good on me, just never knew quite why. Now it is clear and I can target the right colors for a terrific capsule wardrobe. Thanks again🌞

As a warm muted olive skintone that is on the fair side like Mila, this has been eye opening. Thank you! 😊
True
Makeup assistants are sales staff.

- all Olive colors
- Deep browns

My ok colors :
-Dark and Muted yellows (that are actually close to olive )
- Cream, beige, ivory..
- warm greys

My worst colors :
- Any blue that is not muted or very dark
- Any pastel color
- Cool purples
- Emerald green
Thanks for sharing, I can't wear blue too, I look dead lol
I am warm delicate olive with blond hair and blue eyes, and I like all of your colours and PETROL. Petrol is my fabourite blue
Absolutely agree :D does your colour scheme also change drastically when you get tanned in summer? I have 2 completely different wardrobes and I don't know anyone else like that
And do you also look somewhat dark in fotos but somehow pale in real life? Honestly I sometimes think I'm an optical illusion hahaha
@@lemmings6516 i look kinda neutral in photos , devoid of my yellow tinge and sometimes i look slightly pink too while in real life, i look pale yellow 😑... I have a cool olive skin but can't decide whether radiant or muted....
Love love love! I’m warm delicate olive with stone blue eyes and brassy brunette hair, which is so confusing but ur video helped me a lot!!
@Merriam your hair looks so smooth & shiny, and the middle parting really suits you
You my lady...... have saved my life. I WISH I COULD SUPER LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so, so much for this video
Elizabeth Ward I agree
This is super helpful. I definitely have an olive tone and lean more warm in the summer and more grey in the winter. I've also found that my skin almost matches some rose gold, where it's not too warm but not too cool,. However, most of the colors in my wardrobe are grey and tend to wash me out. I'll be looking into more of these warm muted tones.
Merriam....Absolutley amazing video. Thanks!
I hope you and your family are doing well in these strange times.
aw thank you, we are doing well. hoping you and your family are also doing well.
3 minutes in and I'm already like " BRILLIANT !"
Great video, very informative. I would love a video about the Neutral Olive skin tone? 💃
I was waiting for a video like this for years ! There's basically no videos on RUclips about light olive skin. Thank you very much Merriam ❤️
The BEST video I saw about skin colour. Perfect. Thank you for teaching me about myself.
I double that.
Rust red with a warm shimmer is so wearable.
definetely! a friend of mine has very mild rosacea only on her face, and even thought she is probably a warm&delicate, she looks cool toned.
This was HILARIOUS! FROM THE thought processes to the delivery! I'm giddy! You are enchanting! 😁🙌!
Wow finally this is what I've been looking for..! Your analysis is simply another level and I love how soft spoken you are. Now I'm confirmed that I'm a light olive! Thanks Merriam for this great and loving video
This by far has been the best color theory video I’ve ever seen for warm muted olive skin tones!! Thank you!
I’m so happy that someone gets it! Ours is a complicated skin tone. ✌🏽
Omg finally! Where have you been all my life?
Please make a video for hair colors on the light olives? I'm tired of looking yellow or green in certain shades!
You look so lovely here Merriam! Love your hair like this. Thanks for putting out such great content! You're basically the only person I take body or colour advice from anymore because it just makes sense
YES!! More vids on olive skin tones please!!
Your hair looks beautiful Merriam!
"expired last week" 😂😂😂 never have i seen someone describe it so well, I feel this!
Omg! Finally someone said it! Everything you said in regards to Mila is spot on for me 😀 From my own trial and error I've discovered that. The jewelry color has always been an issue for me. Guess I'll check out rose gold 🧡
Even holding my skin up to the screen as you went through the colors I could see the difference
This Video is a life changer :)
Every point you are making is ME! KEY POINTS I HSVE ALWAYS INSISTED ABOUT MYSELF!
Best video on the matter, thank you so so much
YES! Thank you soooo much for this video! I’m finally figuring out my exact undertones. I’ve been so confused for so long
Thank yoooou some days my olive skin makes me look so pale and dead! Ty ty ty
it's so good to finally be sure about my skin tone ❤
More of these videos please, so incredibly helpful!
That frenemy/friend example ily 😂
Her voice is so calming
Really enjoyed this video and info! SidraM is so right friends vs frenemies was great. I'm a medium olive thats cool nearly neutral. Could you please do an example of all olive spectrums since we are definitely the trickiest of the skin tones in my opinion? For years I thought I was warm and sheesh! The make-up and colors I selected for me. Ugh! Thank for sharing!
Wow you look sooooo good on this video!!! Very harmonious! Nice video :)
Best video on this topic. Thank you for this thorough explanation!
Can you do one for warm and delicate dark/deep olive skin? I think I might have finally found my undertone and colours that I will look good in.
I cannot thank you enough. There's so much confusion when it comes to olive undertones! Your knowledge and perception is one of a kind.
Same!
I love how all of the fashion you tubers have simultaneously decided to use Mila Kunis, and a few others, it makes it a lot easier to make decisions for myself 😂😂❤️❤️❤️
Thank you I FINALLY understand which skin tone I am!!!! I have been struggling for two years.
I also recently discovered green concealer and it really brightens my eyes up when I use it to cover dark circles...I’m a warm olive!
Hi there. Thank you very much! Can you please make more videos on hair colours that go with warm delicate olive?
I would love to see a video on cool and muted olive skin tone !
This video is SO GOOD. This is my exact skin tone. And I notice I gravitate toward the “frenemy” colors, but they never end up flattering me. I have to tell myself to stop trying to make royal blue happen. It’s not going to happen.
:( I need royal blue thoooo
Fabulous!! Thank you Merriam! All those colors look good on me, just never knew quite why. Now it is clear and I can target the right colors for a terrific capsule wardrobe. Thanks again🌞
