  • Christmas card craft inspiration showing how Christmas papers can be used to create beautiful Advent Calendars which use die cutting to make a large traditional advent calendar with a 3D pop up scene.
This video demonstrates how to make the most from a challenging size and shape.
The advent calendar is 12 in /29.7cm tall but made using a standard (15 1/2 cm / 6in wide) die cutting machine.
    Materials needed:
    3 x A4 sheets white card
    1 x A4 Christmas background paper
    All purpose or PVA glue
    Wide tip glue pen
Creative Expressions advent calendar die set
Dies of your choice to make the scene : I used unbranded nativity dies)
Die cutting machine ( mine is Sizzix Big Shot)
Hope the making method is helpful and inspires your own creativity for Christmas!

Hi Jean. I don't usually comment on videos, but your videos are very special. I saw a few of them yesterday and kept thinking of them. I, like you use dies to create my cards and am planning to do personalized shadow boxes as gifts this year. My search for scene ideas and tips brought me to you. You do lovely work, and it was a treat watching you put your ideas and layers together. At first I thought all your cuts were done with dies only, but when I saw the numbers and the perforations on the openings (doors), I figured you used an electric cutter (maybe a Cricket...?). I have to admit I have a Cricket and a Scan-n-cut but really don't use them. I'm technically challenged and haven't praticed enough to get good results. Anyway, enough about me...I would love to know a little bit about you and how you began cardmaking. I hope you dont mind me asking, it's just that this is such a solitary hobby or job (in my case), it would be nice to share experiences and maybe exchange ideas.

So pleased you enjoyed the videos. It is fun to share my projects and I do love working in 3D! I don't have a Cricut or Scan and cut ( one day perhaps!) and the advent doors were done using dies from creative expressions. I have PM'd you via facebook if you want to get in touch.
