►While we are working hard on the KOF XV English dub voice mod we went ahead and took action one of the highly requested titles to dub. So today we present you DNF DUEL English fandub!
THIS IS NOT A VOICE MOD. In fact there already exists an fully playable english mod in the same vein as our KOFXV mod! We recommend to go support them as well! A lot of our own Voice Actors are in the mod too!
So, since there's an already existing English dub for DNF Duel, we wanted to use this opportunity to exercise a lot more creativity in terms of how we could reimagine their voices. This was a challenge since each character is more of a "class" than an actual person (even tho the game tries to inject as much personality as they can) and since Pinwheel's dub is cast to be more faithful to their original intentions, we took this as an opportunity to try just push out crazy/creative casting choices!
From things like giving the characters accents, to having them have a second person to talk to, to straight up breaking the forth wall, we tried to inject as much personality into our takes as we could. Here are some of our ideas:
-GHOSTBLADE - we gave Ghost Blade's "Ghost" part a funnier persona, something akin to Genie from Aladdin where he's breaking the 4th wall in juxtaposition to the Human part being incredibly serious and stoic.
GRAPPLER We had Grappler actually use grappling and Jiu-jitsu terminologies
STRIKER we gave Striker this story of how she's a pressure point theorist trying to apply her knowledge in battle
INQUISITOR We have her a sort of Southern Religious Fanatic.
LOST WARRIOR We made him sound like Sir Christopher Lee.
You'll find many returning VAs from the KOF cast but we'd also like to introduce you guys to a whole new wave of actors we've yet to spotlight! So welcome them in as we thought they did an absolutely amazing job!
This was a very fun project and we we're all very happy to do this. In fact, it was a welcome breather away from all the KOF XV stress.

Wow, I REALLY love how unique a lot of the interpretations here are, like with Dragon Knight's cheeky Valley Girl tone, Grappler's personality bordering on showman wrestler, and Launcher's careless and fun secretary tone. My favorites though are probably Ghostblade's Ghost partner and chemistry, and Inquisitor's devoted Southern priest. To be honest though, I had a hard time deciding so because I loved everyone's performances here so much and wish these WERE the canon voices. I thank you all for the work put into this! I
we're soooooo glad that us fully exercising creative liberties and letting loose here is being received so positively! We wished we exercised this more with our previous projects but I think we're learning a lot about how to approach these localizations. Thank you for your feedback, we GREATLY appreciate them, whether they be positive or negative!
I really love enchantress and swiftmaster, they're so good, and the idea to give trobleshooter the spanish accent was just brilliant
Got a few things to say:
1-) Kunoichi's "It's regrettable" line in Japanese is a nicely added detail.
2-) Vanguard looks like what if Terry chose the medieval and dark side.
3-) Hitman's VO reminds me of Batman (the one voiced-over by Kevin Conroy)
4-) Inquisitor is a grown-up and serious version of Yuri Sakazaki with knightess armor.
5-) Lost Warrior's voice type choice based on Christopher Lee is what I imagined the character having a costume based on Saruman in LOTR.
Speaking of Lost Warrior, his voice sounds like Kotal Kahn from Mortal Kombat
@@milanschacht2112 You're right about the Kotal part. I watched a video about Kotal Kahn's MK11 intros and yes, Lost Warrior sounds much like Kotal Kahn.
The Hitman's VA gives me lots of Solid Snake vibes, its fits him well

Funny that Hitman's seiyuu also plays Solid Snake (as well as Solidus and Venom).
I was thinking more Reaper Overwatch but I like that interpretation too

Honestly, I'm really glad you got to bring that out. The way you played Inquisitor was fantastic!
All the characters are named after their respective professions. At first I thought this was a Guilty Gear spin-off game but it turned out to be different but developed by the same game studio.
I like how some of these range from genuinely cool interpretations to really hilarious. This was a nice use for the creative muscle. hahaa Job well done, everyone. I'm still surprised I left that session relatively unphased. haha

I played Crusader in a Dungeon Fighter Online mod years ago, so it was great to play him again. And this more unique/humorous take was very fun.
Oh yeah, the voice you give for Crusader fits so well for him, and the personality here is a fun take for sure.
If this game ever gets an official dub they need to hire everyone in this video because these are the perfect voices for these characters!

This was truly the DNF Duel dub of all time, I enjoyed everyone’s unique take on their respective characters as well as the energy and passion shown throughout, it was a pleasure getting to voice Swiftmaster for this as well as record the gameplay footage ^^.

Wow this game too? I've just discovered the playable dub from Pinwheel. I must say your dub of these characters are is slightly better imo. However, quality wise your dub and Pinwheel's playable dub mod are still equally great! Keep it up!
Well in fairness we had much more freedom with our interpretation, if WE did an actual English dub voice mod then we would pretty much do what Pinwheel did and try to stay faithful with their original voices. Some of our own voice actors are in that mod as well!

This is so amazing! All the voice actors here do such a great job, and honestly, they give these characters a lot more personality than the actual game. I wish the actual DNF Duel had been more like this, because the character designs are all incredible, but the actual characterization is lacking. So this almost makes me sad because the actual game is not this good :(

I am confident that was my mind messing with me (its a thing we do) but a few times you can hear Inquisitor going South Caroline on the accent and i like so much more now that (also its nonreversible).
Why does Inquisitor sound like a Southern preacher?
because we made her sound that way. haha! This dub was in no way trying to be faithful to the original, basically it's us exercising creative liberties!

You said that this wasn't an official voice mod for this game. There's already one out there (and it's pretty good itself).
This would be a proof of concept. Basically, this is your take on what a potential English dub would be if you guys were to do the project.
I do love the fact that you and your team gave these characters a lot of personality. I love Ghostblade being basically dull Aladdin and his ghost buddy being Genie. I love what you guys did with Crusader and Troubleshooter.
As a concept, it's a wonderful idea. Personally, I would love to see you and your team take on Blazblue Central Fiction as the next 'proof of concept' project... but that's just me.
Oh thanks for clearing that up! Then yes! Ever since starting KOF we were always trying to balance casting faithful to the Japanese with being creative and allowing the English language to do what it does best. So with these little "proof of concept" vids we really get to enjoy pushing the boundaries.
I'm glad you enjoy our interpretations! It actually took a lot of brainstorming to arrive at them and on top of that having to find actors to bring those ideas to life.
If we were to do something like Blazblue, do you think we should go the route we did here?

As for a potential Central Fiction fandub, I would hope to see you and your team attempt to create a good fan dub. I don't expect you guys to nail the voices down perfectly, but if you can get the right people to recreate some of the better known VO's in that series, it would be so worthwhile.

We intentionally tried our best to sorta avoid common troupes and really deliver on some characteristics that we think are a bit more exotic in the Anime/video game sphere. I'm really really confused. How come you guys didn't use the voice lines from the game? Did you not like the original personalities? Or did you think because they are nameless characters you could add your own spin to the dub?
(oh what happened to our reply) Anyways... There already exists a faithful playable voice mod (that we have links for in the video description) that we support. So for this fandub we decided to have fun and exercise a lot of creative liberties.

The inquisititors voice is terrible she sounds like she is holding her nose while talking and sound like the character voice is not coming from her.
I think you should drop the texas accent as it just doesn't fit her at all I think a posh British accent like the Queen's English would be more suitable.
Most of the other voices are good though some are a little rough but mostly good.
We appreciate the feedback! But as we've said there's already a mod that's out there that has something closer to what you're looking for and we are very much about trying to give a different non-vanilla spin to these characters. We even went through the trouble of completely rescripting them. if you want something a little less exotic and more in keeping with the common troupes or something more accurate to their original concepts then we recommend checking out Pinwheel's English Dub voice mod!
@@StillThinkingGameDubs Most of the changes are so good I don't know which I prefer as the have a different flavour like Ranger and Striker not sure which is better between this or vanilla but I think giving the Trouble shooter a Spanish accent genuinely suits him better then Vanilla I definitely would switch his voice.
I just find the Inquisititors voice odd it literally seems like she is not the one talking like someone muted the TV and the viewer is doing her lines.
But overall great job.
I don't know which is worse, forcefully shoehorned bible verses or fourth wall breaking "jokes".
