Kangaroos are beautiful. I love them to bits. Last weekend I was driving around a bend in outer eastern Melbourne and there was a gorgeous roo by the side of the road. It looked at me, gracefully jumped the fence and hopped down the paddock. I was absolutely delighted. Made my day. ❤❤❤❤ I've also had a full grown Eastern Grey land on my windscreen while I was driving. That wasn't the least bit delightful 😂😂 It jumped out from dense shrubbery on the side of the road, also on a bend. I had no chance of seeing it. My windscreen was shattered, I was covered in glass but all I could think was "I hope you're not hurt" ( meaning the Roo). I looked out the side window. It had landed on its side on the road but it got up and hopped away. I was so relieved. They're magical creatures to me. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful Tassie - Australia's best kept secret. Nature, history, culture, produce and adventure all in an easily driveable, small package. Just watch out for the road kill. So many vistors neglect it. So glad it was part of your itinerary this time around.
Ahhh, well that made me homesick. Everyone always says it is very similar to England & ofcourse it is because it was originally settled by English people & convicts. So so many building, bridges, etc are designed by the English settlers & convict built. Lots of us are descended from convicts. Mt Wellington is always windy! My mother saw the last Tasmanian Tiger at the Hobart zoo when she was about 12. Did they still have lions at Zoo Doo. I got to feed one through the wire fence once. Amazing to be so close as it’s one of my favourite animals.
Aussies have jokes about Tasmanians but not Tassie itself. It is like another world. Last time I was there I arrived on a cruise and next time will be on a cruise, perfect way to arrive!
HI Charlie & Rob. Beautiful Tasmania and the weather similar in Kent except for the wind 22/23 C Sat and Sunday. Great video as always very informative.
Some bits of the north of the state are also very English. Hawthorn hedges and a cleaner English green tinge to the landscape. *waves from somewhere south of Hobbit.
Tasmania is beautiful. I will be their next month late November 2023. Richmond my great great grandfather was part of the convict labour that built the Church of England (Anglican).
I love tassie Hobart's salamanca market is a decent size market. That's where they build the catamarans that used to travel the english channel. Cadbury chocolate factory yummy. Cat and fiddle arcade if it's still working lol. Then port arthur is just over an hours drive from Hobart. The revolving restaurant at the casino down Sandy Bay area. Cascade brewery is there and the old women's jail in that area too.. the shot tower is just out of Hobart south. But best thing is its rarely warm in Hobart and no flies lol.
Yes the Cat and Fiddle Arcade, goes off every hour where you see the Cow jumping over the moon 🌝 and the Dish n the spoon. Also the Post Office 🏤 Clock chimes on the hour too. 😊

Now you know why Tassy devils are so angry, it's so damn cold and windy most of the time there. Tasmania is in the face of the roaring 40's (latitude). No protection from land and suffers the force of all of the cold SW fronts from Antarctica. It does snow on Mt Wellington in winter. Some days only reach 8C in Hobart and at 42C S that's cold especially with wind chill. The sun's closer now so feels a bit warmer.
