This is the best chwee kueh in Singapore, in my opinion. My wife and I love it very much! The taste is nostalgic and amazing! Can't find it anywhere else in Singapore. Great video, Greg! Keep it up!
This is definitely the best chwee keuh to me too. Other stalls may give me more cai po but i still prefer this stall version.
I love such in-depth review with the history, analysis and sharing of our traditional hawker culture :) thank you
I love this chwee kueh the moment i tried it...the taste reminded me of the chwee kueh cart stall during the 70s along joo chiat road...nostalgic and tasty...
you’re absolutely spot on! One other reason why i love this stall’s chwee kuey is the fact that the chwee kuey itself has 口感, the firmness of the rice cake perhaps speaks of the use of more rice flour than in other stalls. And yes the use of pork lard provides a fullness that is the draw for me!
Not enough chai Poh!!
@@leedonlee5050 you can always add 50 cents of chai por
His Son-in-law used to sell Chinese soup at the store next to theirs, Guess business wasn'y doing very well and taken over by Thai Wanton Noodles now. The Thai Noodles is actually not bad, not bad at all.
Love this Chwee Kueh stall. I will always order it whenever I visit Ghim Moh market 👍🏻
greg. u treat fellow citizens with respect. no doubt.so humble.🙏🏻👍🧑🏻🎄😲🥸💞👍👍👍👍🙋🏻🧜♂️⛪😊😉
Thank you for making your reviews succinct!
Finally a chwee kueh stall!
Well Done Greg for doing Singapore's Best Hawker Centre Vlogs
You are really really making me hungry. I miss Sg and hawker centres. Can't wait to go back for a holiday.
Garlic and sesame seeds are ingredients you can find in the dried radish topping in other stalls in place of pork lard for fragrance.
I agree, this stall's cai poh is kind of an acquired taste. I didn't like it at first try. But because I would normally order it every time I order from the hor fun stall (which is also good) and crave for chwee kueh, I prefer their topping now compared to other stalls. It is kinda expensive though so now I would only get their kueh if the black carrot cake stall's queue is very long hahaha
2 video in a day.... niceeeeeee
Actually I deleted the other one so I lived this one instead 😬
Do try the Mee Siam from 老潮州 in the same hawker centre. Probably the best Mee Siam in SG. The gravy has a very unique flavour, more emphasis on the tau cheo and they do add (what i believe is) tee poh to it as well!
I was getting anxious that a strong wind will suddenly blow all the chwee kueh away
Anything with pork lard is always a plus!
That was many years back, I used to patronize a chwee kueh in Tiong Bahru using pork lard and fat. Heavenly. Nowadays, pork lard is extremely rare. Readers here may want to provide any stall using pork lard?
love the back ground music
Interesting about the pork lard theory, gotta try it.
Nice chwee kueh. Very traditional way of food
Where can we find chee kway with sweet chai poh, and no sesame seeds in the chai poh?
What do you recommend at Seah I'm hawker centre?
Google makanboleh. Their epok epok is nice
Thanks..wonderful video
Best Chwee Kueh store in Singapre! My only complaint is that the aunty won't give extra chilli!!!! haha
Yes they refuse to give more chilli and cai po
Xharge 10cebts more la
@@moonstars6279 nope it's not about money. They simply refuse because they think their chilli is extra spicy and their cai po very salty.
Your kids are lovely
Your son is so cute! 😊
i love the lard oil😋👍👍👍👍👍👍
thanks for sharing 👍
love chwee kueh :)
Now I understand why the saltiness. Will try again. Have been preferring others.
Shout-out to Winsor Arms!
JJ ..... "I love it, dad!"
Nothing will replace lard.
beef tallow
@@noproblematallmate can’t argue with that 👍
Agree lard make food taste BETTER
the hokkien mee video was made private...?
Yes. I found out that the stall is closed bec of too many COVID-19 cases. Will repost the video when it reopens!
@@GregoryLeow thanks for the update! was watching that halfway before it turned private haha
@@GregoryLeow Couldn't you just leave it up but make a note in the description or title that its currently closed due to covid?
@@patq6203 I did something similar for a previous video but unfortunately viewers don’t like it. They want to salivate over the video then rush down to try it lah. If cannot then they get very frus, then I kena 😂
Aunty thought you flirting with her when you said Hello Good Afternoon
ngl but the guy behind you at the start of the video kinda looks like dr tan cheng bok.
Lard is king
Yr kid looks healthy. Good job.
Packed 3 packets, just too miser on the chilly and caipoh. Can hardly taste anything, not even sure where the chilli went!!!So a no go for me...
U should pronounce Chee Kueh lah
Unfortunately I do not think it is worth the hype... I had better ones elsewhere
Very STINGY with chai poh!
Pork is expensive nowadays, including pork fat.😔
Yes that’s true. There was a Govt push for healthier hawker food in the 1970s/80s so a lot of hawkers switched to vegetable oils and that pushed the price of pork lard up (lower demand)
Got better chwee kueh than this one meh? tiong bahru one lose to this one leh...
Too salty, don’t like.
Cummon lah...there are 'better' chwee kueh elsewhere in Singapore! This one at Ghim Moh taste 'average'....guess you never ever taste other hawker like in Tiong Bahru nd others
Hi Jason, actually I've grown up eating all the three big name chwee kueh stalls - bedok, Ghim Moh and Jian bo (Tiong Bahru). Jian bo has been franchised out since the 1990s. they now have 17 outlets across singapore. doesn't mean that it doesn't taste good though. as the saying goes, one man's meat is another man's poison. thanks for watching :)
This chew kuey is sub standard. Very ordinary
it tastes like crap, very stingy with the pickled veg also
you never watch the video? by the way lard is that much more expensive than veg oil
This is the worst CHWEE KWEH i ever eat ,very oily
