Try the ice cream mochi first. They're delicious. But the regular non ice cream ones are gross. I've tried them multiple times, and every time, they're nasty. It's not that I don't like the actual mochi either I love it on the ice cream ones it's so good I love that chewy mochi and love when its got plenty of it cause some of them don't have a good layer of mochi. But the regular mochi are gross. The texture is more rubbery and almost like blubber. It has a grainy-ness to it, and the starch on the outside just makes it worse. It has literally no flavor, and the flavor it does have just tastes weird and so off-putting. They called it a dessert or sweets, yet it has no sweetness to it what so ever. The mochi on ice cream mochi tastes sweeter. Not cause the ice cream, just the mochi on its own is better. The room temp ones are just hella weird, off-putting foreign stuff. Ice cream mochi delicious. Regular traditional mochi disgusting, and if you get the red bean paste filling, it just adds to the grainy quality, and they are not sweet. Asian desserts and ethnic desserts in general are never sweet. Never sweet enough to even be called dessert. The American market took mochi and made it better. Try the ice cream ones. They're amazing. The my mochi brand is really good and usually at any store. The mango is great, strawberry is great, s'mores is delicious. She's eating a durian flavor. Don't ever get that if you see it. It's like eating vanilla custard mixed with garlic and onions. It's disgusting. I don't know why anyone would eat it.

The only thing that’s disgusting is your complete disregard for people entire cultures and upbringing. Probably why America has such high rates of diabetes and obesity. Mochi is great.
Some people just have a high tolerance/big sweet tooth. I used to demolish an entire cake (not slice, the whole.. birthday sized one lol) no problem, but in the last couple of years my sweet tooth has more or less disappeared
