I love the idea of dying wood black underneath the paint!
I'm in school to become a machinist and we have a class dedicated to learning CNC lathes and mills. We cover all the material for the first two years of apprenticeship and half our time is spent in an awesome shop space. It's super rad and I get to make some really cool projects. I'm loving it.

NY CNC / Saunders isn't an actual machinist and makes a lot of mistakes when machining but he's very successful because of his determination, friendliness, willingness to learn etc,. There's a lesson in that! Much respect to him and Diresta. Keep up the good work!

I gotta tell you, Jimmy - I'm loving these vlogs. Thanks for keeping up with them. I know it can get hectic and they take time away from your projects and commitments, but I do appreciate you taking that time to keep posting them. You and that Tormach are going to be one beast of a combination. I can't wait to see what you do with it. Peace to you and yours!

For anyone seriously interested in learning precision machining. I recommend picking up a NIMs textbook. It has a variety of shop skills, techniques, and introduction to most of the major machinery used. NIMs for those that do not know stands for National Institute of Metalworking Skills.

It is really awesome that you can confront something intimidating like trying to learn something like a computer language that you need to use in order to use that machine. Personally, I know that I would see that as a brick wall and give up on it. I am more physical and find computer language and environments to be very daunting. I know that I create my own barriers due to my own anxiety.
