I started wearing sunscreen only last year September of 2020 until now. I can say that my face is looking great now although I get some breakouts. Sunscreen made my skin have a nice texture. The moisturizer that I use is spreading easily. The fine lines on the forehead become less visible. I do have an acne scar but I do not care about it. If Cerave is reading this, please come to New Zealand. Love your product. Dr Dray has totally sold me on your products. Luckily I can get delivery through Amazon. Just ordered 3 of the sunscreens 🤗
I just got the CeraVe hydrating tinted sunscreen because I figured you use it and I love it! It matches my skin so well that it’s hard to tell where it is AND I’m oily… so I dust it with the derma e sunscreen powder. The combo looks amazing on me and feels like nothing.
I got the Derma E sunscreen powder and loved it at first. But…it quickly became difficult then impossible to get it to come out, then the top wouldn’t stay on and I had to use a rubber band to secure it. I finally got so frustrated with the packaging I threw it away. I could see at least half the product was still there - but if you can’t get it out why bother carrying it around? Now I’m using a sunscreen powder (Physicians Formula) that comes in a compact. I see Dr Dray likes an Avene sunscreen in a compact so I may try that one next.
I was just recently sent to your channel and so glad I did! I'm 45 and never knew how to take care of my skin for these golden years🙃 I've been slowly working a routine in but I hope I'm not too late in the game starting so late😟

I love AHA's. In my 20's Vaseline made a creamy version with AHA. I used it at night and my skin was flawless and then a moisturizer with SPF in the daytime. Of course, I was in my twenties. When they stopped making it was when I started having problems. I looked everywhere for something similar with the AHA's but could not find it. This was before a little while before the skincare industry exploded so you either had cheap products or very expensive products that were hard to seek out and get. And if you did get them It was hard to know what you were actually getting sometimes. It would be nice to know the difference between all the different kinds of AHA's, BHA's, and PHA's and what are best for what along with good products for each. XXX'S

Could you address the dangers of still baking in the sun when you're wearing sunscreen? I have a friend who spends hours baking in the sun at the beach, still gets very tan, but thinks she's OK because she's wearing sunscreen. (?) Her dermatologist has told her she only needs to come in for a skin check every 5 years because she doesn't have a lot of moles. (?) She has blue eyes and brown hair and light to medium skin and is in her mid 40s. Curious your thoughts on this.

I'm surprised by the assertion that retinol doesn't cause sun sensitivity. My derm told me to put my Retin-A on at night. Thanks for another great video Dr. Dray :)
@@aliruida8642 I’m not a dermatologist, but I believe the same is true for all retinoids. From what I understand, a retinoid won’t “ cause “ sensitivity, but in the first few weeks or so of use, your skin could be more vulnerable, because retinoids increase cell turnover, so you have fresh skin that is being exposed with no dead skin cells that may provide a slight bit of natural protection. And I understand that exposure to the sun decreases the efficacy of the retinoid. No matter what, sunscreen is always going to be your best friend. 🙂
Is cerave skin resurfacing retinol serum is beginner friendly? as i have not used retinols before...plz answer...am desperatly looking for the best one to start with..
She has a video talking value the best retinols, you may want to check that out! She recommends it for those 20-30 years of age. When starting a retinol, start slow! Use it once every three days or so at nighttime, after your moisturizer. See how your skin tolerates it, after a week or two and increase it to every two days. Usually by the time you have been using it for a month is when you will be using it nightly. Hope this helps!

As my granddaughter, age 10, was packing for camp she told her mother that she, . . . really need[s] to develop a skincare routine at camp.” I told my daughter that she would have to make do with soap and water and SUNSCREEN while she was there. Her cousin who is a very fair redhead has been under a severe sun watch practically since the day she was born and wears long sleeves, hats and high SPF every day,, so I’m sure the one will take care of the other. 🤗. My daughter developed vitiligo around age 5 so we have always been very diligent about sun screen. I would tell her about how important sun screen is and we need it to prevent skin cancer. My husband would get so mad at me for telling her that, thinking I was scaring her. Education and routine are key. Glycolic/Salicylic Treatment (Use Retinol/retinoic acid on alternate days)

I thought you use sunscreen before moisturizer
A year ago I started following dr Dray advice and my skin changed dramatically… I’m so grateful!!
I'm only 17 years old btw. :))
my everyday routine is basic:
AM
Cetaphil Oily or Gentle Skin Cleanser
Altruist SPF 50 Sunscreen
PM
Cetaphil Oily or Gentle Skin Cleanser (sometimes twice if my sunscreen don't dissolve yet)
(damp wet skin)
Illiyoon Ato Cream
Nivea Lip Balm
:now my dermatologist told me to incorporate Tretinoin 0.05% because I have pimples or acne, especially I have fine lines until now, some scars and blackheads or whiteheads
@@paulachristie7807 same happened to me. Those are so frustrating.
I was just recently sent to your channel and so glad I did! I'm 45 and never knew how to take care of my skin for these golden years🙃 I've been slowly working a routine in but I hope I'm not too late in the game starting so late😟
So glad to learn retinol is good to use along with sun screen. I was going to stop the retinol during the summer. Thx. Dr Dray
I always remember your words in one of your previous videos saying that” I would stick with cerave products just if I’m not trying to review other brands products for you guys “ since then I don’t bother my self with other brands.
XXX'S
Congratulations on your sponsorship with cerave. If cerave has a brand ambassador. It’s you 😃. I am a total cerave tub cream fan. Have been using cerave face wash for 4 years and somehow managed a big feat of making my husband use that on his face!
Thanks
You've taught us so much by now! Thank you! Not only that I understand their function now on a deeper level, I've actually applied them now for quite a long time and most of all I feel they work - together with all your other tips!
Just repurchased cerave night cream w the purple label. I even got an additional one to give away as a gift. That stuff is magic. Got it on DrD recommendation.
Hopefully when CeraVe is reading the comments they will release the famed purple label night cream in Australia. When the Chemist Warehouse TV ad says that they stock the full range of CeraVe I have to say "no they don't!"

I'm surprised by the assertion that retinol doesn't cause sun sensitivity. My derm told me to put my Retin-A on at night. Thanks for another great video Dr. Dray :)
Yeah, no change to the MED
My derm told me to put retinol on at night, not because it causes sensitivity, but because sunlight can lessen the efficacy of the retinol.
Is that just with prescription strength tretinoin?
@@aliruida8642 I’m not a dermatologist, but I believe the same is true for all retinoids. From what I understand, a retinoid won’t “ cause “ sensitivity, but in the first few weeks or so of use, your skin could be more vulnerable, because retinoids increase cell turnover, so you have fresh skin that is being exposed with no dead skin cells that may provide a slight bit of natural protection. And I understand that exposure to the sun decreases the efficacy of the retinoid. No matter what, sunscreen is always going to be your best friend. 🙂
For a nighttime routine, what should go first- niacinamide, hyaluranic acid, or retinol?

🤗. Never too young to start.
My daughter developed vitiligo around age 5 so we have always been very diligent about sun screen. I would tell her about how important sun screen is and we need it to prevent skin cancer. My husband would get so mad at me for telling her that, thinking I was scaring her. Education and routine are key. Twenty five years later, she has beautiful skin and has never had a sun burn ( and we have a pool). She loves being outdoors camping and hiking but always with sun screen and a hat . It’s just automatic, second nature fore her.

In Romania the good spf stuff costs a lot and it's kinda hard to find what spf fits you the best due to the amount of money we need to spend.
do you have balea there?
balea from dm does have affordable face sunscreen options if that's available to you. i'm always testing out body sunscreens because these are much more affordable and so far i like la roche posay anthelios invisible spray shaka 50+ (it seems to have a similar liquidy/light texture to the shaka fluid for the face but probably greasier. it's slightly shiny on my oily face but still comfortable), eucerin sun gel 50+ and la roche posay anthelios dermopediatrics 50+ although it has a slight white cast which i like. i get them from pharmacies and i'm also from the balkans. all of them have very high UVA protection too. the price is pretty low if you calculate per ml but drugstores have even cheaper options if you look at body sunscreens.
