You're a braver man than me heading out camping in the Winter, you've built up a great collection of camping gear there, nice review again. Many thanks.
Thanks mate, it's took me a while to build up a lot of decent equipment, I like winter camping but it's a long night with it going dark earlier and you definitely need the right gear for it, cheers mate 👍 ATB
I believe these bags are bloody good and judging by the specs this would keep me warm throughout our winters here. The size of it is still a lot smaller than the 4 season I have. Not a bad price too Gaz. Thanks mate 👍
Alright mate, yeah it's a cracking bag for the British winter, looking forward to testing it out properly this winter, they are good bags snugpak, they've served me well over the years, thanks Ant mate 👍 ATB
you have got it right about the keeping down the price of gear. i have been doing that for the last 45 years on camping wild camping gear. (wild camping is the best and now i am pensioner i have more time to do it) Good one.
Thanks mate, yeah it's not too bulky considering the comfort rating, some winter bags are really heavy, hopefully I'll get out soon to test it out, cheers mate 👍 ATB
I got the GAW gear last week very nice gear thinking what to do with the pouch and Gear but you know me I will do a video soon . Thanks very much Gaz great give away and I finally won something ATB
First half decent bag I bought a couple of years back Gaz and despite buying lighter and more expensive ones (down and synthetic) since, it is still my favourite in terms of pure comfort. Can't always justify taking it as it takes up half my rucksack, but when I do it rarely lets me down (snaggy zip notwithstanding...). I'm sure you'll enjoy using it lots mate. Cheers. Rich.
Thanks rich mate, yeah that's the thing with these snugpak bags, they take up half your bag and not the lightest, but they are warm, I'll have to watch the snaggy zip, nice one. I might purchase a light down bag in the future, I don't like spending too much though on gear, this was the most expensive bag I've bought at 82 , what bags do you use mate if you don't mind, so I can keep them in mind, always good to know good quality gear that others can recommend, nice one mate 👍👍 ATB
@@GazianoOutdoors My next bag after this was the really cheap Snugpak Jungle Bag - it's virtually useless on its own in this country unless its a REALLY hot night, but it is big and square and has a very handy bugnet. With Snugpak's fleece liner in it, you get a really nice spring/summer bag, but the problem is it weighs just as much, and packs no smaller, than the Elite 4 😄. Example vid here : ruclips.net/video/gIECOUwBbx8/видео.html. I eventually bit the bullet and got a pricey down bag as a Christmas pressie to meself last year, the Mountain Equipment Helium 600. Super small pack size and half the weight of the Snugpak - superb bag but still not quite warm enough for the coldest of UK nights sadly. ruclips.net/video/VPHJxO4Y-uE/видео.html I felt like I needed a synthetic bag for summer bivvying that was warmer than the Jungle Bag and got the Snugpak Tactical 2 - one of their British made ones and good down to freezing they say, although I wouldn't go below 8 degrees with it personally. Quite happy with that, and reckon inside the Jungle Bag could be a half decent winter bag too. Then very recently I splashed out on a synthetic bag that's as warm as the Elite 4 but way lighter and smaller pack size - the Mountain Hardwear Lamina 15. Only used it once in a bivvy bag recently and it was super warm, very impressed. You'd need the longer size though mate for sure - I can just about get into the regular and I'm a little over 6 foot. It's a proper 'mummy' shape as well, that's one of the trade offs. To conclude, I've tried to find ways over the last couple of years to avoid the big money on a posh bag but in the end I realise that you do pretty much get what you pay for if you want performance from a light and packable bag. I think the Elite 4 is a good compromise though - manageable size, decent price, and superb performance. Hope this helps Gaz!
Wow, thanks for all the info mate, I really appreciate it, I think your right mate , you definitely get what you pay for with sleeping bags, I spent more than i wanted to on this one but might have to spend even more in the future, but your sleeping bag is one of the most important bits of kit you carry so I don't mind too much. I'll definitely keep the bags you mentioned in mind and check out the vids, cheers Rich mate 👍 ATB

Hey Gaz mate, nice bag, I still rate the EV 400 I love it, but you're right about not going down to -1 I reckon, I find it incredibly warm and I am going to test it down near the comfort limit just to see. I've often heard bad reports about snugpack so it'll be interesting to hear how good it is on a proper test... good price that too 👍
Nice one Lee mate, yeah I still really like using my oex it's a cracking bag, I might give it a go at low temperatures too and take my blanket for back up just incase, would be good to see how it performs around the comfort rating, think I'm sorted for sleeping bags now these should do me nicely , I'm hoping to get out on a camp soon hopefully, cheers mate 👍🍻
Gaz, as a brand I love snugpak equipment. I appreciate there is a built in expander panel that extends the bag by 12.5cms.
