A little late to this, but thanks for showcasing this. I'm the creator of this remake/remix! There are a few updated versions of these levels uploaded separately from the Super World if you check the uploads tabs. Thanks for playing! Edit: Wow, over a million views! In honor of that, I have updated all of these levels to be top notch, with more secret areas, better visuals, and closer accuracy to the original Super Mario World. There is also a trailer and custom artwork courtesy of a friend of mine on my channel, check it out!
Awesome! I think the levels would look better if you just recreated the functionality instead of trying to make everything look similar using SMM2 elements.
Personally, I wish Mario Maker 2 had been more robust so more accurate rebuilds of old levels could be made. I wanted to recreate SMW as well, so I could experience it in the other Mario engines, but I was ultimately frustrated by the lack of space and assets. Granted, this is cool. It's like a re-imagining of SMW.
The crazy thing is, I actually liked building worlds in SMM1 more. I loved having two screens; it was very intuitive. If they make a new Switch and then make a SMM3, I hope there's some sort of option to display to a TV while still using the tablet.
Jokes on you. It's all the same engine in each theme except 3d World. 🤣🤣🤣 Also, Nintendo isn't gonna give you every asset from their games for the public to use. That would be stupid. They gotta retain the majority for themselves so they can make new original games.
Never played Super Mario Maker, but am shocked at the low amount of assets from SMW that are included. Props to whoever made this, with so little to work with!
I tried to remake SMW myself but then realized how painful it was, so I stopped the project. That was 6 months ago, and now seeing this, mad respect to Whoever made this.
I was trying to remake SMB2/ SMUSA. I think I got to World 3 or 4, but its time consuming and I have to take so many liberties that theyre basically not the same levels at all. But hey its still pretty cool.
Seeing this only shows how lazy Nintendo was in implementing game-exclusive characters and environmental tools. It was a great effort from this fan despite the limitations.
They weren’t lazy, that’s just the way the game is designed. They wanted it to be so that you could create a level in any style and then change it later, and everything would mostly stay the same. Only difference is 3D world which they made a separate style because of how completely different that game is
@@bensonburner7037 To me, the whole "3D world is different so you can't swap between styles seamlessly" thing sounds like an excuse for not wanting to implement 2d stuff into 3d. Which honestly, very understandable. Considering, y'know the fact that 3D world uses 3D models while the rest uses 2D sprites (with some exception of course, like NSMBU playable characters and bosses). So naturally, it'd require more work to code each of the course parts from scratch just so 3D world can catch up with the classic game style. Though let's be real, I bet they could've easily added all 3D world exclusive to all of the style. Warp box, Fire Bro, Clear Pipes, Spike block, and other parts, shouldn't be THAT hard to add. Especially since you can already pretty much smuggle all the items between styles via glitch. It just that, they want 3D world to not feel lackluster. If they were adding every 3D world items to classic, 3D world would be the only style that has the least amount of variety. So they decided to make some parts exclusive, locking it away from the rest in order to compensate what they couldn't add to 3d world, and thus, "extra game style." In short, the devs probably had given up on adding 2D items to 3D, they had no choice but making some parts exclusive so that 3d world won't feel so hollow compared to the rest. Not necessarily because how different the game is, but how different the game plays out. ...sorry I started ranting out of nowhere, don't mind me. Just still feeling annoyed how they threw so many interesting items away that would have so much potential in classic game styles solely to make 3D world feels somewhat redeemable.
It’s not really lazy at all. It just doesn’t have as much options as we would like. I hope if super mario maker 3 is game in the future that they really work on making adding in more options to work with. Especially background tiles and platforms. It’s hard to decorate with limited options
It's even weirder that Yoshi can spit out 1-ups and mushrooms without giving Mario a life/power-up. Also weirder to me is that red Yoshi has infinite fireballs even without a shell in his mouth.
Kind of ashame Rex, Blaargh, berry bushes and other enemys and assets aren't in Mario Maker. You would think with how aggressive Nintendo is with fangames and romhacks they would try to outdo them.
@@Patrick19833 They wouldn’t have done that anyways. Some of them, like the mines in world 1 are too obscure and behave a little too similar to other enemies to have that much utility in game.
@@pepearown4968 More like they've become lazily complacent. The success of the switch shows they can save money on quality assurance and physical building costs because the fans buy broken stuff anyway, along with exploiting the fear of missing out by removing games from their online shop. I’ve been entertaining the idea of making a SMW3 kind of Super World. Mario goes back to Dinosaur Land for the first time in a long while, only to see that it’s changed a lot and has been taken over by Bowser again. I want to make the world order the reverse of the original SMW (e.g. starting at the now collapsed Valley of Bowser, now Lucid Lagoon), and this might be a good basis for making the landscape.
Super Mario Maker 2 should have been bigger what it was. But Nintendo still won't give us every asset from every game and it's hard to stay invested because of that. This is why the fan games exist.
