So, as an art student and BIGBANG fan, what my interpretation of the music video has always been: Dadaism is an art movement that talks about deconstructing previous art concepts. A lot of those artworks were made to challenge the Fine Arts world, tradicional values and what art is (one of the most famous works was an urinal signed with a sharpie by Duchamp). In this video we are shown the caveman "discovering" music or rap basically, represented by the mic. One scene there is a bunch of cave man going from walking on all fours to standing up imitating that famous evolution illustration we all saw as children on science books (they are also trapped by chains so I belive his is talking about how we are all trapped in our modern lifes even tho we are "more evolved" as species). So what I think T.O.P its talking about its how he is re-inventing the game and challenge the traditional music scene in Korea at the time. He and his fellow BIGBANG member G-Dragon were underground rappers previous to debuting as K-pop idol, and it took a lot for rappers to take them seriously because their were "just idols", but now they are highly regarded as actual musicians and rappers, an first for K-pop idols. The MV also has many references, the main ones being for the science fiction movie "2001: Space Odyssey", and his costume with the mustache it's the artist Salvador Dali. He even call out mass midia and their propaganda at the end (the main reason that almost made him trying to off himself years after, with his scandal. Btw this song was almost an decade early so no, it does not have to do with this song).
I like your interpretation, better than what I could come up with. I’m sure some other VIP will provide an explanation about the art concept of the video. You did great, thank you!
The music video is based on Dadaism. Dadaism is an avant-garde movement during the 20th Century in Europe. It’s like surrealism but holds a more satirical and darker meaning to its work. It is characterized by abstract, cluttered and disturbing imagery just like the music video. Hope this helps
Just a heads up if the CC, captions subtitles say *"English (auto-generated)"* there really isn't any subtitles available 🤣. The ai or RUclips system is going off on the sounds or words it thinks are English and puts it out there which results in mistranslation
I loved watching your interpretation of the video! I really enjoyed that you tried deciphering T.O.P's meaning in Doom Dada--your opinions are great. 🤩
On the side theory, this song basically TOP diss to all new rapper in kpop industry and telling to us that he is the GOAT. That one scene where all the monkeys follow him is showing all Korean rappers trying to follow his steps.
I love how you are deep diving and trying to find the hidden symbolism. He and GD are famous for word play. Salvador Dali (artist) is who he's dressed as on the safai. He showed the evolution of rap, claimed his place as the best rapper, challenged anyone to take the title, and dissed the media here.
If an old K-pop music video doesn't have subs (auto generated is just RUclips listening to the audio and trying to detect the words you are saying, and he is speaking korean so none of those words were corect 😂), you search the artist and song name + English Lyrics/Subs etc. Thats how it was being a fan of Korean music back in the day 😂. A lot of those videos have the MV but some it's just a lyric video because of copyright so you have to watch it after the MV.

Auto generated only works if they are speaking that same language. It is for those with hearing impairment.
